I'd just like to point out, I've just now realized that people in this thread seem to think Dean is the only person developing the game. Seriously, Dean leaves, life goes on, DayZ gets worked on.

I'd wait till they get zombie numbers to the final levels before we cry about them not being hard enough.

It sucks to see him go, but at least he gave us 10 months warning and will continue to be part of the development for that time. He could have just not said anything and disappeared at the end of this year. The guys transparent, he tells us whats going on and what hes going to do.

Irish, no one (okay maybe someone) is saying that there is no hacking at all in DayZ. We're saying that the first video posted by the OP was more than likely not hacking. The second video is probably hacking but sometimes its safer to not go screaming "OMFG HACKERS WTFBBQSAUCE" and consider other potential reasons.

I checked DayZDB because I remember their wiki having damage values. Apparently every gun does 500 blood damage and 200 health damage. So it may or may not be complete horse shit. EDIT: Google'd a bit and it seems to slot between the M4 and the Mosin in terms of damage

I've got a cheap headset and it helps with sound. Its not like I hear a shot and I know exactly where the shooter is but I know the general direction. I have had some weird issues with sounds coming through the wrong side a couple of times though.

So, basically "Truesight" is only rendering player models in a predefined visual cone. Why not just say that instead of giving it a fancy name?

I'm like 6'1" and I'm almost as tall as the doorways in my house but not as wide. The picket fences look more like garden fences than privacy fences, something nice to put around the yard without obstructing any views. The BMPs do look a bit small though honestly. I know you can't stand in the things but I don't think a grown man in combat gear could even sit in one of the ingame models.

Um, OP. I'd be more convinced if you actually caught video of the guy that killed you. Since the guy in the town seems to lag and then freeze (he also looks unarmed from what I saw) and then you start swinging your camera all over the place so we never see what he does. $5 that someone killed you for being a sniper on the coast line and you jumped to the conclusion it was a hacker.

Some of the ideas sounds interesting. Welding irons bars would be hard as fuck though, unless you happen to be carrying a generator, petrol, an arc welder, and welding rods. I suppose you could conceivably make a fire hot enough to weld iron but good luck. Cell phones would make no sense considering the lack of electricity means the towers are all down. Heat Vision Cameras. Good luck finding FLIR in a poor post-soviet nation. Currency only works if civilization exists. This is a hold over from ArmA 2, where street lights would automatically come on when the sun started to set (either that or were always on and we never noticed) What possible use would you have for welding goggles? (except maybe welding) Unless the tinted part flips up or you find some fancy pair of auto-darkening goggles it'd be worse than putting on a burlap sack.

Considering we're only a few months into the Alpha, I'd say its a bit too early to be asking for new maps already. When modding tools are eventually released we'll prolly see new maps being made like crazy.

How bout the Degtyarev instead? Was developed in the late 90s and is closer to a NATO .50 rifle with 12.7x108. Its still in service today (in small numbers though) as a counter-sniper rifle and for engaging light armored targets. I figure you'd be more likely to find one of them in Chernarus than you would a working PTRD-1941 w/ammo.

I like the Magnum. It looks nice, sounds nice, and .357 has more than enough stopping power. Also, FNX Mags. I swear they don't actually exist.

I read them while I wait for friends. Nothing sets the mood better than reading Poe and Lovecraft before setting off into an apocalypse.
