Elitist bit much? -
Why are the devs making the gaming so diffcult?
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to Asheville44's topic in New Player Discussion
And on a moments notice, the elite special forces of the DayZ forums embarked on a ruthless counter-trollerist mission to eliminate Asheville44, better known as Bashir Al Abadtroll. /sarcasm If you're serial, you deserve any kind of harsh reaction for that opinion. This is no "everyone is right" bs. You are straight up wrong. -
What will your policy against cannibals be like?
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to yazar8's topic in General Discussion
Handcuffs, bag to the head, kitchen knife to the neck, and a handful of zombies to speed up the process. Hey, how else will the poor zeds get a meal? -
The People of DayZ (What Makes You Special?)
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to over9000nukez's topic in General Discussion
The name is Cap'n. I'm a survivor, a military man, a dying remnant, the last of our kind, and I carry out the authority of a vestigial empire. My main objective is to cleanse the fatherland of this filth. My comrades have all been turned, killed, or simply deserted. I will not give up the fight, as I am a true soldier, and I carry the burden of the entire quarantine campaign on my back. My only true goal is to assist the remaining population and refugees, eliminate the hate plague, and kill the murdering rapist thieves that have taken over my homeland. I carry a service rifle and uniform, and I am the acting authority of the government. I once operated at the battalion level, then company, then platoon, dwindling into a meager fireteam. My closest compatriots have all either fallen or quit the fight. But I will not surrender. I search the lands, cleansing every sickened soul of their burden, giving food and aid to every fellow survivor in need, and finishing off the bandit dustmen who have raped and pillage Chernarus. Until the plague has been cleansed, the order restored, and rule of government has been returned, I shall not quit. You may call me the remnant. I shall not quit until my job is done. -
DayZ Standalone Bounty: Xophor and StoneStock
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to cheeseburger8's topic in General Discussion
Reference appreciated. Also, that Smersh vest gave me a hard on. I might consider it. -
I've started a new thing for me. Cannibal hunting. It feels quite satisfying. Me and a random in Novo had a pretty intense encounter last night. A group of geardo's were having a roast up in the Novo tower, and the random I ran across said he'd just watched the guys gut like five newspawns and were apparently cooking them upstairs. I gave him my M1911 and we murdered the shit out of them, and it felt sooo good.

Third Person View should be Over-the-Shoulder, NOT a bird's eye view.
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to Rags!'s topic in General Discussion
Over the shoulder just feels awkward to me. This is one of the few games were I'm actually comfortable playing with the 3rd person view. -
What to do with the edges of the map?
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to rickyriot's topic in General Discussion
I'd prefer them either create a natural looking barrier of rocks, valleys, and streams than just making it an island or some magical barrier. It fits the lore far better, and doesn't look stupid. Actually, I hate the idea of Chernarus+ being an island in general. EVERY open world game map, and specifically OFP/ARMA, is a fucking island. It's nice to have some kind of terrain not surrounded by water on all sides. Chernarus feels original, something unique and familiar and that's why I love it. -
I'm going to gut and cook fallen comrades, then slyly offer them some food when we meet up once again. "Wait, so this is meat is human?" "Not only are you eating human meat, but you're also eating yourself. Auto cannibalism isn't so bad, eh?"
-
So where dou you hang out in Chernarus?
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to goofert's topic in General Discussion
Zelenogorsk/Kozlovka/Pavlovo area has and always will be my hunting grounds. I tend to venture farther North and East if the need arise, but otherwise I stick to that general area. -
Big fucking whoop. I could care less really, and you're just being a picky asshole.
-
Poor guy, he's definitely bucked.

Are you trying to bait someone? Feels like it.

There really isn't an excuse for not having helmet covers. Besides, the MICH helmets look *awful* without them.

With a little over 500 hours, I'd say yes. The game has come a pretty long way and the most recent update was quite feature packed one. I'm really enjoying it at the moment.
-
I don't know why, but I just love the feeling of the smaller villages. Isolated, quaint, unaffected by the world around them.

Thoughts on the new .50 Update...
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to Schweinsteiger's topic in General Discussion
I'm really enjoying this build. The new towns are very well built, and some of the smaller ones remind me of the ArmA 2 Stary Sobor and feel like actual villages. North of Severograd there is a brand new run down military base, and it looks really awesome despite not being very valuable in terms of loot. I feel like the game itself runs better this update, at least for me. .49 I was getting maybe 25-30 average, now it feels far smoother. The new animations for pistols are pretty fitting, while the running animation still looks a bit wonky. Really loving the derringer and the waterproof. Oh, and did I mention... 5.45x freaking 39 is here!!!!!! -
What exactly makes Standalone so taxing on your system?
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to anderswhk's topic in General Discussion
Rage much? Besides, OFP and the ArmA series in general are brilliant games. Seems like you've come back just to complain more. -
So, are vehicles coming in 0.50 or not?
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to haxborn's topic in General Discussion
And this a constructive post, how? Tell me, did you come to whine or contribute? -

I think it looks pretty nice, tbh. -
Back stabbing? Today I beat a German woman to death on experimental for her dry bag. I'm far from trustworthy.

*Chernarussian I'm an asshole.

So, I've been busy with life...
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to Michaelvoodoo25's topic in New Player Discussion
Zombie wall phasing has been fixed in all yet the most rarest cases. Stairs and ladders are still somewhat dubious, but I haven't been killed by a zed through a wall in months. A lot of new survival mechanics have been implemented, yet they are still relatively barebones. Still more hermit friendly than release was. All in all, it depends. It's still Alpha, but it's come a LONG way since January (in my opinion). If you want a finished, stable game, I'd wait until midway Beta or release. -
Does anyone dislike the "no military stuff" agrument?
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to stielhandgranate's topic in General Discussion
It's a knee-jerk reaction, and frankly, it pisses me off. Mainly the hypocrisy that surrounds the logic behind "If it's mildly military, IT HAS DESECERATED THE SACRED SHRINE OF SURVIVAL!". That's funny. Y'see, if it's 70 years old who cares? Yet anything past the early 60's and has either a selector switch, magazine, foregrip, accessory rails, or all of the abive immediately gets the bullshit excuse of "DAYZ ISNT ARMA GO HOME CODKID!". Please, just shut up. What we need are better survival mechanics that reward the player and still make it incredibly challenging. A good balance of military gear doesn't break that. A large variety of rare items is better than an incredibly boring handful of incredibly rare items because of the rantings and knee jerk reactions of hypocrisy.
