If you could make a Makeshift Gun/Melee Weapon in DayZ with no limitations..
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to Shrapnell's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Okay, I'd get a grenade launcher or non-lethal tear gas gun in 40mm. I'll remove some of the HE/Tear gas shells projectile and insert correctly sized roadflares. I would then fix a gas lighter on a metal bar going to the tip you ignite. Then, I would lightly douse the flare with petrol. Viola, I now have the ultimate PvP death machine. -
what i found in my basement that can help dayz
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to Shrapnell's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So, how exactly does one attain a will to be buried in an occupied home? You know what, I'm getting on to something. Mr Nelson, your previous wife, they didn't die on accident or by their own will. No, you murdered them! Prepare to burn at the stake by roadflare! -
Skilled Vs Unskilled bandits
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to stonewall1350's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm not a bandit, but I don't agree with you on #1. He took advantage of your weakness, and had every right to. A good bandit does not need to be praised as honorable towards his methods of killing. He simply needs to walk away alive and well with your loot. But does that change my outlook on bandits? Nope. I kill them anyways, brah. -
I've posted about this before, I'm doing it again. I don't stash twenty Urals deep in the forest. I have a hatchback hidden somewhere very secret, and have managed to keep up with it for the last two weeks. I don't rely on cars all the time, and only use them if I plan to travel across a great distance or get somewhere fast. And right now, the vehicle physics and driving mechanics are fine and dandy. Why do they have to rehaul something that works and it works good at that. Just my two cents.

Most of the reviews seem legit, but there a five or six posts from users who have only posted once to review this server. Shady bit much, brah?

I don't call anyone a "bambi", or refer to a group of players as "bambies". I call everyone by "brah". Dog is my hero, don't tread on me, brah.

How do i get wifi internet access for a desktop.
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to Blondedash's topic in Technology/Programming
Just get a wireless adaptor off the internet. You can get a decent one for 20-30 dollars. And yeah, USB adaptors suck. -
I know I'm not famous on these forums, but I'd love to see Cap'ns Roadflare Energy Elixir as a lootable drink.

PAX East - March 2013 - Presenation/Q&A/Interviews/Articles
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to SmashT's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I've never seen anyone willing to type up all that text for some random strangers on a forum, but that must be a good quality. Most of things I heard/read please me, but I'm not very happy that vehicles won't be making it into the game for a while. Why can't you just port all the current vehicles into the game? I understand they're trying to implement advanced mechanics for everything, but don't you think a crafting system for vehicles is a bit overdone? And to think, we'll only be able to travel on foot for almost six months, on a map even bigger than its current state. This is one of the very few times I've been unpleased with the development teams plans. -
Looking for Partner age 13-16(x-post from Survivor HQ)
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to maldorlevr's topic in Clan / Group Recruitment
Hey, I'm also 14. I could consider joining your escapade, but I might get bad ping because I'm here in the states. I don't get to play with people my age that often, so it'd be nice to hang with people I might be able to relate to. I'll forward a message to you if I want to join. -
Why do the Zombies run? ZOMBIES SHOULD NOT RUN AT ALL!!! c.c
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to SoulHunter (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
They are not reanimated corpses, they are living people driven mad by a virus that makes you crave flesh. Like bath salts. -
DayZ Standalone and next generation consoles
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to Cap'n (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah, but consoles don't need to keep up with PC's. People get consoles because they are cheap, convenient, and don't require many of the things a PC does. But DayZ would struggle in its current form, but the Standalone will be able to squeeze out better framerates. But have you ever played BF3 on the consoles? It shows how demanding games, even when downsized for a console port, have trouble running. So I could see some difficulty with consoles handling the game. -
I'm sorry that I said that, I went back and only then did I pick up that you're Norwegian. Not that you'll forgive me, but I just want to satisfy myself by apologizing.

I'm ready to spill blood the moment someone posts with an "lol".

DayZ strategic encounter breakdown
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to shaneisaghost's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Very informative. I don't see PvP that often, but I like to watch a guide here and there to see what others have to say about the do-whats and do-nots. One thing I must point out is that instead of one entire video showing what you did right and what you did wrong, make a seperate video for each. One should show sucess and the other should show the ultimate defeat-death. -
Big words, poor grammar. That shit don't mix right.

Some more than others....

Pistols are incredibly underpowered
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to Shrapnell's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've shot a M1911 before. It's loud, it's heavy, and makes a big hole. And I agree that pistols should get a buff. I miss how the M1911/Revolvers were a one hit kill on zombies, and now pretty much every pistol but the revolver and 1911 are more akin in damage to a squirt gun. Just sayin' -
whats your favorite gun for slaying survivors
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to shreddedrocks's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
CQB: AKS-74U. Plentiful ammo, decent ironsights, and okay damage in such a small package. Midrange/Everything: Was once the AKM, but I've found the Sa.58 to be superior in many ways. Plus, it looks awesome. Long Range: Either the SVD Camo or CZ550. I don't snipe all that much, but a rifle with a scope comes in handy. -
Make the crosshairs near useless as they are now, and I'd be fine. I only use them in CQB anyways, as its a helluva lot faster than ADS.

The switch from console to PC
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to NautilusGoose's topic in New Player Discussion
Welcome, friend. A good sum of DayZ players are people who've seen videos on youtube and decided to buy an entire new PC, just to play this game. You'll get accustomed to controls within a week or two. I look forward to hearing your stories of vanquishing bandits and eating beans, huzzah!. -
How can people just run around town with rifles?
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to Wick94's topic in New Player Discussion
I use one of two methods. I either clear out a town from a few hundred meters away with a scoped rifle(usually CZ550, I find lots of them), or sneak around them. If I do aggro, I'll try to avoid them and break LOS. The best method against zombies is stealth, as just running into town ignoring every aggroed mother f'er in town is either pure stupid or naive new player syndrome. -
The only thing I use for night is flares. And I don't think I've ever gotten shot at night whilst running around with them. And I play on a full server. Plus, flares are what make this game great.

My best moment was my finding my very first truck. I was just floating about Mogilevka trying to find a friend who was overlaying coordinates to me on Skype. I was fairly new, it was my third week of playing the mod. Me and him were set to raid the NE airfield, as there was a lesser chance of bandits there and we had a lot of time to spend. So I fixed the truck up, and I giggled over Skype that we had a "sweet new ride". After picking him up, me and him traversed almost the entire map on one of the most enjoyable road trips I've had yet. We met a few people, some friendly, some not. But the fun of it was getting to know the map, and the adventure of not knowing where I was or where I was headed.
