Me and a few "anonymous" others have been secretly murdering people who have alleged access to the DayZ Standalone alpha. There are a few on this forum that have been "replaced" already, and that may explain behavioral changes or leave of absences. After their dead, we skin them and take their PC's back with us to our secret lair.

There were bandits in the beginning, and don't claim there weren't. They were there, though more numerous as of now. I don't like them as much as next guy, but using cheap game mechanics to "curb" PvP(I doubt it would help) is just making the game worse. I'd rather leave it to people who are smarter than me as I'd rather not bother with it. I'd much rather have a lovely romp through the Cheranrussian country side. I heard Pusta is nice.

Hey, my brother has gone off to college and he's left his PC for me. Its an older rig, but I'm curious as to what settings I could achieve. Specs; CPU- Intel Core i7 920 overclocked(not sure how much q.q) GPU- 2x GTX 460's in SLI, 1768 MB video ram(1.7 gbs) RAM- Crosair XMS3 8gb DDR3 1333 MHz MOBO- Intel LGA 775 EXTREME Motherboard PSU- 800 watt, not sure what brand. HDD- 320gb, 134 is already used up(time to delete some shit) I don't know how much I'd use it, as it'd be my 3rd PC(lol). I might give it to a friend or sell it off Ebay to someone who knows nothing about PC's and get more than its worth.

Don't base anything off of an old build recorded on a computer so shitty it runs like a slideshow at lowest settings; without fraps. Until we've seen solid finished footage, we shouldn't base anything off of leaked/devblog footage regardless of how ignorant you may be. And many thanks to Steak. You should go for the new 6800k instead. Its IGPU(8760D) is said to be equal to a 7750 in terms of performance. For a budget build, that's pretty damn solid.

Its sad the majority of us here will have to rely on youtubers who may or may not record footage of E3. I doubt Spike(a television channel in America for those of you budding foreigners) will cover the DayZ standalone booth, but it'll be a real treat if they do. But still, it crushed my dreams when E3 became a closed event, invitation only. So, I'll rely on Jackfrags to give us some hopefully decent quality footage. They'll be others, but he's my favorite youtube uploader so I'll rely on him above all else.

The GT 650m is sufficient to play DayZ on high with a max of forty frames. You'd have to get Windows in bootcamp to run it, but otherwise your MacBook checks out fine in my book. PS: A lot of people in the Can I Run It thread don't treat laptop recommendations with much respect. If anyone needs a recommend for a laptop, I'm the guy you can trust ;)

The new AMD APU's came out recently. The one I'm most interested in is the A10 6800k, its 8760D IGPU is said(going off a forum comment) to be between the 7750 and 7790 in terms of performance. If that's true, I'd say it'd be a damn good for a budget build. The 7660D was equal to a 6670, and if the forum post is right they've made quite a jump. Now all I except from AMD is that release the Phenom III 8 core. Then they'll fully please my insatiable thirst for dem cores.

Great guide, and everyone HAS to go North or otherwise they'll remain in the utter hellhole of the South. Although you'll see less PvP, people in the North are typically better equipped, making firefights much more difficult and dangerous. To be on a level playing field, I'd recommend you'd find a good midrange rifle with common ammo. The Enfield/AKM/SA58/AK74 all fit this profile. They are common, reasonably effective, and pack quite a bit of damage(except the AK74). For carrying food stores, medical supplies, and extra ammo and firearms, I'd recommend you find a large or medium sized backpack. My personal favorites are the Alice and the Czech pack. They both blend in well and offer reasonable storing capacity. Now for disposing of zombies, either a hatchet or Revolver would do. Nothing else(par the Makarov SD, but that's private hive) is worth the trouble. Stick to the forests and country side and avoid small villages, as the majority are full of scenery houses that are not enterable. Once you've found a decent place to loot(NEA, Stary Sobor/Novy Sobor, various Castles), you have a few options. You could search for a car; unless you travel in a group I recommend one of the two trucks over anything else. Period. You could also move to the forest and become a hunter gatherer and hide the precious loot in tents. You could become a medic and save those noobs who forgot to pack morphine. Or you could become a bandit, but I don't recommend that based on my moral standards(morality on the internet? what is this sorcery?).

I'd prefer the South Eastern North American country side, and I think North Carolina would suit that best. Mountain ranges, mild climate, farms and small towns dotted around larger cities. The map would be placed in the foothills/Piedmont.
