You'll need visitor 3, and go onto the Armaholic forums and look for forums that give links to helpful programs and tutorials. Also, you'll need satellite data and a couple of map making mods off of Armaholic. Here are a few good ones; http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=8332 http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=10508 http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=18632

I was brought to DayZ by CHKilroys videos. They were funny, entertaining, and captured what DayZ was about. Tension, suspense, action, and comedy rolled into one big bag o' fun! Honestly, I watch a lot of Jackfrags and Seananners. Everyone hates me for loving Seananners, but that son of a bitch and his misfit friends are motherfucking comedy gold. They have a pretty solid DayZ series, but I'd suggest you watch the earlier episodes and stop at 21 because the quality goes downhill from there. Oh, and there is a video that is primarily meant as a benchmark but the guy carried it on and made three episodes. He never speaks, and it shows the harsh reality of the DayZ world and our eventual death. Plus, its one of the few DayZ videos where they're not playing on very low settings. It ruins the enjoyment of watching a video when some asshole has everything but grass and trees disabled because they "need" 120 frames per second. Jack Frags is a very good example.

One thing that has me worried about the Standalone...
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to scaramoosh's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I like the movement speed and fluidity, makes me feel less like someone carrying a bag of bricks. but still, I think people with more gear should go slower. But I like how the fluid movement might balance the new zombie pathfinding, which seems a great improvement even if the zombie animations are...mediocre. I think everything with the standalone right now is playable, STILL looks better than the Mod and I bet whore money it'll play better too. -
Go to the "new player discussion" thread, and the first thread you'll see will say "Can I Run It?". Click on that and post your specs. Anyways, that PC sucks pubes.

E3 Expo - June 2013 - Interviews and Gameplay
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to SmashT's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I'm surprised at the amount of accounts that have been created solely to trash the DayZ standalone...a game in Alpha. Its not anywhere CLOSE to being finished. What we'll be playing is going to be an ALPHA test, and we'll have just about a year until it hits Beta. Then a couple of months until ACTUAL release. But from what I've seen, some assholes are going to treat it like a full game like the idiots they are. Listen, it hasn't even been in development but for six freaking months. I can understand some criticism, but acting like this is going to be a total failure? What do YOU know? Explain to me just how you can see into the "future"? From what I understand, our whiny little friend has sent as many poorly trained conscripts from the dwindling Cunt army as he could to rage us into submission. Your mistake. We're a well oiled war machine, and your baseless arguments and poor grammar will never sway the masses. When the standalone is FULLY released, it'll be the best motherfucking game ever and you'll be a thing of the past. -

Are they going to follow the ArmA 3 model and release it as a playable and stable alpha, move on to beta, then go to full release? I hope so, because this game will lose quite a bit of hype if they don't. I'm excited from the game play, but how longer am I going to have to wait until I can pick up a version, unfinished or not, that I can play legally? I know I'm being an un-patient bitch, but am I going to have to wait more than a year? -

I'm sorry I didn't post earlier, my hands have been sore from all this masturbating whilst watching E3. So far, they've actually delivered above my expectations just through the game play shown. I felt a twinkle of hope when Dean mentioned he MIGHT have vehicles on release, no shits given if they aren't some super craftable whatever everyone else is frothing at the mouth for. Also, why is it the only weapon they've implemented is the AK-74MN(I WON BITCHES! MY FAVORITE GUN GOT IMPLEMENTED!) when both Matt & Dean mentioned that all the weapons are *somewhat* finished? Isn't everything just *somewhat* finished? Anyways, the best of luck to Dean, Matt, and the entire team of Czech geniuses that are making the game of my dreams! -
DayZ at E3? What time and where to watch?
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to MrONEBADDUDE (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Will Spike show some footage of the DayZ/Bohemia booth? I'm sitting here watching E3 and I'm in total rage mode because I haven't seen any footage yet and I doubt they will. But still, I MUST see footage. -
Will Standalone be released this month?
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to poodude28 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I hope its like the ArmA 3 Alpha where we get early access, play around with it in its primitive state, and then get the full game for free. -

Dayz Performance (CPU Decision Purchase)
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to stagpul's topic in Technology/Programming
The 8350 is near equal and can even surpass the 3570k in some benchmarks. I'm running an 8350 alongside a HD 7950 and I max the game easy, and I paid only 900 USD for the build(650 watt bronze power supply(Nvidia), 500gb Caviar Black HDD, GSkill 8gb DDR3 1600, and an ECS 990FX Mobo). I've gotten a stable overclock of 4.8ghz and it isn't stressing my cooler too much. I average 75-80 frames per second on Highest settings. Show me an Intel build that could get that same frame rate for equal to or lesser the price. -
Will DayZ SA work on Linux?
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to etc (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You could download a Windows compatibility program and then purchase it off of Windows Steam. There are a few videos online of people running ArmA 2 off of Linux, most are using Mint. Not 100% sure, I'd suggest you stick with Windows. -
Question from Gaming magazine: Why is permadeath fascination
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to Lord_Darkmoon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It creates tension knowing that everything you've worked for is at risk every second of the day, and that you'll have to work for it all over again if you die. Blank slate, as I call it. -
Damn Gews, have you ever considered getting an upgrade?

Getting low fps issue in a 7870 HD 2GB O.o
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to ThatGuyPT's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
The 7870 is good enough to run max settings, it has to do with your CPU. Its...its...its hit. You need an upgrade. Otherwise your going to downgrade on the graphics settings. -
70-80 FPS, 720p resolution @ 75hz refresh rate. Radeon HD 7950, FX 8350. Ultra, High AA 40-45 FPS, 900p resolution @ 120hz refresh rate. ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 OC'ed, Intel Core i7 720qm High, Normal AA AA looks better on the laptop for some strange reason, older GPU and the older AA tech works better I guess.

Buddy, a mid range GPU from 2006 isn't going to run this game smoothly on even low settings. You shouldn't be making recommendations buddy.

If you're looking to do a budget build, I'd recommend AMD. Intel's lower end processors(Pentium, i3, Duos) can't keep up with the AMD CPU's of that price range. For under 100$, you could go with either an Phenom ii X4 or the FX 4100. I've found the Phenom handles overclocking better, but it runs hot and has a pretty damn high TDP. For a GPU, I'd recommend AMD + AMD. AMD processors and graphics cards work together and generally perform better(AMD/AMD > NVIDIA/AMD). AMD has again, better GPU's in the budget end. The 7750 is pretty solid on Medium settings, and can even handle High at a lower resolution. The 7770, 6850, 6870, 7790, and 7850 are all VERY solid performers in the Sub 100$ range. When it comes to high end with AMD, there are two processors I can recommend. The FX 6300 and FX 8350, and both can keep up very well with their Intel counterparts. The 8350 even surpasses the 3570k in some benchmarks with fraps(including Operation Arrowhead; fanboy rage in 3, 2, 1). Not saying AMD is BETTER than Intel, once you start laying down money on some expensive processors. Another reason to NOT buy Intel is to prevent them gaining monopoly of the entire CPU market. If they have control, they'll control the prices. If it weren't for AMD, Intel would more than likely pay a lot more than they do now. And why spend so much more on something that is only SO much better? When you get only a 3-5 frame difference with a capable GPU, why spend the extra dollar? Hell, if I went with Intel with my main build I would of had to get a 200$ GTX 660. I decided to go with the 8350, and instead I got a 7950. I overclocked the jeebus out of both of em', and now I'm fine n' dandy. You know how much I paid? 900 USD. And its just as capable as any Intel build with the same GPU. So, AMD and Intel are both good for different reasons. But does spending two to three times the price justify such a minor jump in performance. In the end, it boils down to one thing. Blue VS Red.

Hello everyone, I am here to ask a very important question. In a short time indeed, the standalone will be released and we will be set loose upon the newly revamped land of Chernarus. Among these new features, are two islands off the coast. One of these may be familiar to some ArmA players and Private hive players. Utes, an island housing an airfield and military installments of the Chernarussian military, and another smaller island that we will simply call "Treasure Island". The question today is, will you remain on the mainland or become an Islander? I plan to become an islander and inhabit treasure island, and clear it of all the infection so it may be fit to live. I will make trips to Utes for new guns, and occasional trips to the mainland for food. What will you do on the islands?
