  1. I'm fucking fed up with the snark and cynicism of complainers. The OP is fine, and some of his points are valid, yet I don't really think we have anything to fear. I'm fed up with people who simply assume that they're bamboozling us simply because the made a profit. News flash: just because a game is popular and makes money, doesn't mean the developers have turned into greed monkeys out to steal your money. You're either or delusional, a hipster, or both.

Something to help clear the air.

I for one, am relieved to see them putting work towards the game instead of constantly trying to remind us they're developing a game. But whatever. My $30 was well spent, and I'm here until the end. I lay my trust in Bohemia as one of the few decent non-indie developers left out there. I'd rather see changes for myself by playing experimental than have them waste time making dev blogs every damn week.

    Heavy & Light Machine Guns

The only belt fed MMG we need is the PKM. It fits the setting, and there already exist several variants fed with the 7.62x51 round. Anything else doesn't belong, bar the Pechneg, but it's very similiar to the PKM in appearance, so the devs could pass on it.

    Need help with something.

Alright, I was constantly getting session lost on experimental. I found someone with the closest thing to a suggested fix, and they suggested that I delete the .dll file (not the EULA) in the Battleye folder in the game files. Apparently, it's supposed to download that when joining a Battleye server. But it doesn't. Instead, it kicks me for not having Battleye. Is there any way to fix this?

Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it.

I think people really expect too much. You bought a game in development. The developers are going out of their way to remind you, that is indeed, a LONG road until it is a fully finished game. People are not used to the Alpha format, and they simply take it as "Hey, we get the game early!", and not "Hey, let's pay to take part in the development process of a project we see a lot of promise in!". The latter seems to be a lot more attractive process, yet most developers seem to use it as a way to fork cash without having to finish the actual game. Unfortunately, Bohemia has unintentionally made this kind of thing common practice among smaller projects and indie developers through Steam, as a by product of the INSANE popularity behind the mod and hype surrounding the standalone release. They made a cool few million, and now everyone wants that DayZ MoneyZ. Thankfully, it seems the developers aren't scamming us. They've added new assets to the team, are creating a lot of new content, and best of all, AVOIDING answering every single request of the community. Thank god... I hope that the standalone is a great success, and by release, is a fully fleshed out and enveloping experience worthy of my 30 USD, which I've already weened more than 300 hours worth of enjoyment. And Bohemia gets richer in the process, and makes the upcoming ArmA 3 DLC great, and ArmA 4 legendary.
  7. There was the modern 08' Volkswagen Golf in ArmA 2, the 99' Corolla, and a 90's Hilux. That, and a varied array of other vehicles ranging from early seventies to middle 00's. This game is NOT set in the Cold War.

    Happy to....

Good- have a cookie! Still have no idea what the point of the thread is, but the effort is appreciated, one keyboard warrior to another.

In a survival game with severely limited resources, WTF...

I doubt we can get fluid animations like this with the current engine system. You people neglect to understand that ArmA and DayZ, and unlike normal games, don't use a different body rig for first person. So everything you see happening in first person is happening in third, and vice versa. In my opinion, this system is far superior. But my opinion doesn't matter, and the vast majority of new players has come from games that use the rig system and don't appreciate it... I pray they don't rework it. It's good as it is. Melee will improve along the path of development, but it must meet it's logical conclusion. i doubt we'll see features akin of that to a dedicated MMA game.

    [Question] Downed Helo's are UH-?

I think we need more Mi-8, Mi-6, and Mi-24 series crashes. Each of them could carry different loot- 8 series are dedicated troop transports that may carry AK series weapons and defense force uniforms, 6 series logistical supplies such as food and water, and 24 series could carry high level loot. Each being rarer than the other of course. Then again, I'm the guy who doesn't mind armored BRDM's, should fired disposable rockets, and manpads... But rarity is everything, right?

    WWII German Gear in Chernarus

I don't mind some small stuff, like a Stalhelm...but nothing overboard. Also; Takistan borders Chernarus to the West, past Novigrad, the capital (no, you silly ducks, cherno is not the capital). People often wonder why they border each other, but hey, coniferous woodland doesn't instantly turn into arid desert. Look at some pictures of Armenia; it's generally considered European, but borders Iran. Also, Iraq and Afghanistan have woods and mountains (albeit sparse). I'd love to see a gradually changing border area around the Taki/CR border. That'd be awesome.
  12. Strelas and Iglas out the wazoo. This would make DayZ 200% better.

Ballistic Vest - What Should It Do?

I think Torchia just confirmed that they don't plan on adding it. It's in the devtracker, I'm too lazy to link the tweet.

    WWII German Gear in Chernarus

    I love that trailer.

    WWII German Gear in Chernarus

The ArmAverse is a alternate universe. I'd assume the Green Sea is a Casipan analogue, but there are other circumstances applied to it. At some time in history, Chernarus was a Principate of the Bohemian Kingdom some time after the fall of the Roman Empire. Which is pretty generous, but that's Word of God.
  16. I support the addition of MANPADS. Your arguments against this are invalid.

    WWII German Gear in Chernarus

:emptycan: Hmmm, nope? It's based on the geography of the area surrounding Usti Nad Labem, but it's not the area itself. Chernarus is a fictional sovereign country, on a fictional sea, bordered by fictional nations in a fictional universe. I will NOT stop replying to these posts, until the whole of the community gets this. It's a little thing, but it irks me so much.

Ballistic Vest - What Should It Do?

It was in the release trailer. It's a 1st person view of someone shooting a female player, and when she falls over you see the distinctive shape of a vest and MOLLE patterns. Looks just like it.

Ballistic Vest - What Should It Do?

Why isn't in the game already? It was in the release trailer for christsake...
  20. Alright, so I've been a pretty vocal complainer about the whole ammunition debacle. After doing some more reading, I stumbled across a post that changed my mind a bit, and let me understand what they're trying to accomplish with this. Do I agree with it wholeheartedly? Nope. Mostly? Yeah, I guess. Here is the quote for reference; "We're not against adding more calibers but the team feels strongly we should avoid confusion of casual players. This means we can achieve the same effect on gameplay that dilution of the ammo pool would accomplish without adding in more 7.62s, and more 9mm's. 380Auto has performance characteristics more similar to the 9mmM than 9mmP but has several advantages 1) avoids confusion 2) allow for the addition of many iconic firearms such as Makarov, RAK, PPK, MAC10, Scorpion 3) sets a precedent which might allow us to do the same with 7.62 (think .308 Win instead of 7.62x51). " - Scubaman3D Alright. I can see where you're coming from on one angle- the less calibers per weapon, the easier and more pragmatic weapon development is. Shure, more calibers would mean rarer ammunition, which I'd LOVE to see...but that's sort of a crapshoot because people complain. But then he mentions that they're trying to avoid confusion of casual players. Huh? I thought DayZ was marketed as a "hardcore survival game"? I look at the reviews, the media, hell, even the store page. It's always been marketed as a hardcore survival game with a steep learning curve. Now, is the average "casual player" stupid enough to confuse ammunition? And even then, isn't it part of the learning curve? I'm sure I' mistaken a few AKM mags for 74 mags way back when I first started the mod, but isn't that part of the experience? You should learn from your mistakes, not have the developers make it easier for you. Doesn't the average person check the ammo before putting it into the gun? "Hmmm, this is 9x19 Parabellum, this here Bizon uses 9x18, I don't think it fits!", and not just stubbornly trying to jam it in there with no result? This raised some questions for me. Are they trying to make the game easier? Are they trying make it easier for the art team to make weapons? What exactly does this accomplish? And what will it take for me to make them add the AK-74?

    Mullraugh's Guide to Bandits

Appearance is a big issue. I generally assume anyone with even a mild fashion sense is probably more likely to be concerned over trivial things instead of the space for lootz and being the ub3rPl0xsn1pp3r's that I come to expect with all the stupid and mismatching gear that this senseless community loves. I'll tolerate anyone who dresses like a sane person. People think I'm KOS, I'm really not. I just hate the stupid things people wear in this game.

DayZ Zombies, an attempt to diagnose the zed condition

The disease itself is a Prion based one, proteins inside your brain being corrupted by a viral infection. It was confirmed by Rocket a while ago, wish I could find the post. I'd assume that the zombies are just blatant expies of the 28 Days variant, but I like that. That movie scared the shit out of me.

When did they make DayZ look so awful?

BIS is slowly, but surely, transforming DayZ. In two months time, the game will look just like ArmA 2. In a year, Armed Assault. And in three more years, the game will made its final metamorphism into Operation Flashpoint. And hellfire will be rained upon Codemasters headquarters. HAIL TO ŠPANEL
  24. Cap'n (DayZ)

What clothes do you wear for fashion alone.

I've got a massive woodie for CDF gear. TTSKO, CDF beret, hunting pack and the AK. Tasty.
  25. I once hacked up an armed bandit group to bits, camping out the Elektro powerstation. With a fireaxe. They shot me once. Not one of them survived.
