Fucken jesus christ man. Why on earth people wanna waste money on useless ram is beyond me. 8gb of RAM is all you will use. Dont be a chump. Its a pretty expensive build so if you've got money to burn go nuts, if you want to be a smart cookie and save some cash while getting almost the same performance then get an i5 that you can oc, get a 670 or even a 660ti if you wanna save even more. Your PSU is overkill as well. Do not buy a razor keyboard, they are fucking trash. In fact the whole line of razor mechendise is trash except for maybe the deathadder. And why not just get a 500gb SSD? It would probably be cheaper than two seperate smaller SSDs. You obviously have a lot of money to waste so you probably wont take any of that advice but I'm poor and stingey so it makes me cringe when I see people go nuts with ridiculously unnecessary builds. Anyhow, good luck with your new PC! Edit: I can quite happily run BF3@70 fps with my GTX560ti (two years old) and i5 2600k. And I can hold a decent amount of frames in DayZ on medium to high settings, if that is any idication to you. If you want further advice the best place to ask would be at a PC dedicated forum. Try over at KBMOD.com, there's some smart dudes that will happliy tell you the do's and don'ts.

In my opinion mate, purchase A:CO. Its pretty damn cheap at the moment and you will still have at least a few weeks to get used to the engine and the feel of the game. ArmA also provides a lot more to the player than just DayZ. The single player is awesome and there are a lot of great mods out there, one other very popular one at the moment is Wasteland. Play that for a while and you'll get a great understanding of the game mechanics and learn a few flanking tactics etc that can be of use in DayZ.

That's a huge generalisation. Private hives are the best way to avoid hacking and enjoy the mod how it was meant to be enjoyed. No combat logging as well which is a plus.

I've been playing this mod for over 9 months and I couldnt give a rats ass about any of these things you've mentioned. I would continue to play even if the mod was still on 1.4 and a million times worse than it is today. Everything that has you worried is visible to the thousands of other users and will be dealt with in the best possible way by the dev team. Hence to production of a stand alone release.

Well done OP, a worthy thread for the devs. I sincerely hope they manage to spot it in the crowd. Now thats a freakin idea! You know what I used to adore, the card game they had in FF8 on the PS2. I spent many many hours simply playing that mini-game within the massive RPG itself. Ordinary playing cards and a currency system would be wonderful (texas hold em ftw!).

Ping ain't an issue with Arma my friend. You can quite happily play with 300+ ping without noticing any lag. Good luck with finding a friend doe!

Install both ArmA2 and Operation Arrowhead. Then try launching with DayZ Commander. If you're still getting errors, you may need to validate files via steam.

Respect the death of your character and the loss of your loot. It will give you a much more satisfying experience.

Majority of weapons you see these days will be hacked in and passed on from person to person via looting dead bodies. Mod is fucked these days, I'd love to go back to the early days where actually seeing an AS50/M107 was the bees knees.

Server - NZ 06 Time - 4.30-5am AEST Date - 17/8/2012 Name - Not Friendly Incident - My friend and I had just repaired a chopper and were flying around up north scouting tents out when we saw a dude on the ground throwing road flares. We took a few shots at him, which didnt faze him at all then flew off to look for more tents. Within less than a minute there was a hacked heli of some sort chasing us and shooting at us. The chase went on for about 5-10 minutes, I put a lot of ammo into his heli but it did no damage what so ever. Im 100% certain that Not Friendly was the culprit because there were only 3 of us on the server at the time! Anyway we landed and left the server, came back 10 minutes later, he was gone and he'd destroyed our heli haha. I hope something can be done about the prick. Warm regards, A loyal fan. Are Shacktac putting a team in?

This has happened to me as well. However I believe the cause is that you didnt allow enough time between packing the tent up, putting it into your inventory and then changing servers. You need to allow for items to save on the character in a way. Next time just hang about in the same server for a minute or two after you pick up the tent. It should then be on you when you swap to another server.
