That's .5 seconds more time you could have to type a sarcastic post on the interwebs. Maybe hills are so uncommon to you because you never get off the coast.

I'm not entirely clear on how many people are actually working on it, but it seems to me that it's in Bohemias best interests to give all the funding and man power they can to the standalone, seeing as the DayZ mod boosted Arma 2 sales like 500%. In my mind it is necessary to get the standalone out as soon as possible with summer coming to a close and advances in graphics in the industry. If the standalone gets released in a year the graphics are going to seem a bit outdated for it's time, and those not truly dedicated will have lost interest by that time. Say the standalone alpha gets released in a month, will it be the quality be that what it could have been if bohemia lent maybe a few more programmers to the team? Just my thoughts, maybe I'm being a bit selfish ;) they are working on arma 3 as well after all.

Take a look at this about FX processors and AmrA 2. http://forums.unitedoperations.net/index.php/topic/13152-amd-fx-cpus-and-arma-2/ If you want other things to try check out my guide.

I had the same problem last year. First I created a new profile, then I assigned a new button for "Talk on direct Channel" and I also forwarded the necessary ports on my router to my computer's static IP address just in case. Problem solved for me.

What server are you on? Those frames are phenomenal, and did you get the beta driver?
-
-
Run your game on 800 by 600 3d and interface resolution. That will give you the most significant frame rate increase. With other tweaks you can scrape a frame or two, but your computer is well... I was going to say it just tries very hard.

I'm not sure why, possibly related to a newer patch, but lately it is very hard to find a server with good fps. You can have a great ping but if the server has the classic 1000 added vehicles with a ton of added buildings, it kills performance. Frankieonpcin1080p's recent DayZ video showed in the debug his fps was around 35. I think DayZ has progressed in a positive way but with that progression optimization has fallen back, and more and more people are now scratching their heads and re-assuring their embarrassed PCs that it's not their fault. Because it's not. If any hardware is to blame for the poor fps on DayZ it is the server's hardware, specifically the CPU. We can only try to cope with the hand that we've been delt, I run RamDisk loading important pbo files off my ram. I have disabled all CPU restricting features like CPU parking, halt states, and am playing around with hyper-threading and cpu affinity. I have tried numerous command line variations as well as optimizing my config files. In the end, I've found the best thing to do is find the right server. Currently playing on 70.32.33.90:2332 overwatch. I get great FPS on that server.

Suggestions for the DayZ standalone - thinking outside of the limitations of an Arma 2 mod.
Cobs replied to ruarz's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I must add the importance on fixing the zombie pathfinding, as well as their movement speeds, and animations. We all know how glitchy they are currently, going from 0-60 instantly jerking around running in zig zags that change direction instantly, only to hit you through a wall or from 10m away. After the zombie movement and animations is dialed in, they should be made horrifying and a real threat. I want to be walking through the woods almost as scared as I was playing slenderman the 8 pages, really terrified I might run into the infected. Zombie sounds should be reworked, damage increased, new models, maybe a chance of them grabbing you, anything to take them from being a nuisance to a horrifying threat. After all, it is a zombie apocalypse game, best to put a lot of effort into having really good zombies. -
Dayz connection with Ethernet/wifi difference?
Cobs replied to minimeistro's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Go to start, type run and hit enter, type "control netconnections" without quotes and press enter. Here you will see your network adapters, ethernet, and wireless. Each connection is connecting to the same router, unless you have multiple routers in a less than ordinary configuration. These connections are most likely set up to automatically obtain your IPv4 address, unless you have manually set them. As for whether you connect "through a different IPv4" I'm not too sure what you are referring to. Your router "name" on your wireless networks is your SSID, basically your wireless broadcast has a name so you can identify it. Connecting via ethernet cable goes straight to your gateway, so no name is needed. Both connections will use the same default gateway IPv4 address in most cases 192.168.1.1. If you want to switch between the two connections the best way is to right click on the connection you want to disable, and click disable (in the control netconnections page), and right click enable the one you want if it is not already enabled. That way it can't interfere with the other connection and won't take priority without you knowing. If you are concerned about which is more reliable, try each connection and go to www.pingtest.net. That will give you information about how reliable your connection is, as opposed to speedtest.net which gives you basic speed info. -
Need some help from you guys to create *new* & *official* DAYZ t-shirts!
Cobs replied to DAYZ Store's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Love to see a T-Shirt with this on the front. Simple, minimalistic, and any DayZ player will instantly recognize it. -
This is probably the most important thing I am waiting for in standalone. Ever show a friend DayZ, and when they see the zombies you quickly have to mumble disjointed excuses about alphas and just a mod and some guy named Rocket and then change the subject to "look I have to eat and drink to stay alive!" ¬_¬ I use a joystick for movement with my left hand, and I can go from a slow walk to a run fairly well in this game. What the zombies need is some good ol analog speeds, even if the animations look a bit slo-mo. Just start em slow and work em faster as they get going.

I do not know what your problem is. Here are some things you can try: Check out your resource monitor to see if any cores are being parked. If they are, unpark them with an unparking utility. Disable C1e, speedstep, C-States in bios, to see if any of that helps. It looks like your processor has 6 physical cores. Arma 2 only will take advantage of 4 I believe. Try using these parameters: -nosplash -cpucount=4 -exThreads=7 -high Do not run a sensor program such as cpu-z, gpu-z, core temp while playing DayZ or you may get some stutter. Best of luck

This is correct for your quad core, also disable hyper-threading in your bios, disable any cpu power saving features, check for cpu parking in resource monitor. Servers with 1000 vehicles and 50 players (seems to be quite popular these dayz) tend to cause major lag with all the added objects and such. I stay away from those servers. Some additional launch parameters for your enjoyment: -maxVRAM=(10 below your actual VRAM without parenthesis) -maxMem=2047 (anything higher defaults to 2047, without specifying sometimes it will only use 1.5GB)

Grey screen, disconnect straight after join
Cobs replied to RegentOrange's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Not sure what the problem is but I would try these things: Try waiting in the lobby a few minutes before attempting to spawn in, make sure battleye updates and initalizesMake sure all files are the correct version in dayz commander, and all paths are correctRun steam as administrator and verify integrety of game cache of arma 2, run arma 2, then verify integrety of arma 2 OA, and run arma 2 OA.Open up necessary ports http://support.dayzmod.com/knowledgebase.php?action=displayarticle&id=11If none of that works, start drinking. -
Try using GPU-Z and seeing what load your graphics card is running at, as well as the task manager to see your cpu usage when in game. If your gpu is maxed out, likely you need something with a bit more muscle ;) Check the cpu as well.

Dayz connection with Ethernet/wifi difference?
Cobs replied to minimeistro's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
What is your internet connection? Please go to www.speedtest.net and post your results. Secondly make sure your ports are open: http://support.dayzmod.com/knowledgebase.php?action=displayarticle&id=11 Wifi vs ethernet will not dramatically affect your ping unless you have a very bad wifi connection, in which case you will have a large number of packets being dropped. You will always see more reliable results using ethernet. You should join a server with a low ping if you are having problems on a particular server. A great ping is under 100ms, personally I don't play on anything that is over 150ms. Refresh all servers in DayZ commander and sort by lowest ping to find good servers for your area. -
Check out this about CPU parking, as CPU parking will still be in effect even with the power settings at max performance. http://www.coderbag.com/Programming-C/Disable-CPU-Core-Parking-Utility

Are you running off a SSD? Because your video card is more than capable. Take a look at my guide for improving fps, there may be something you haven't tried yet. I run DayZ off AMD 7950 3GB on 1 monitor, with an i3 3220 3.3 GHz, 8gb of ram using ramdisk to load important pbo files. My framerates on a good server outside cities are 50-70, and in cities on a good server are around 30. Take a look at this as well about FX processors and AmrA 2. http://forums.unitedoperations.net/index.php/topic/13152-amd-fx-cpus-and-arma-2/

Sound works normally, but DayZ has no sound.. Hmmm I must ask the obvious first, did you go to your in game audio settings and make sure your levels were turned up? Secondly play around with the audio samples (in the same audio settings screen) putting them lower or higher to see the result. Thirdly, it could be related to the 3d program and your graphics card somehow associating audio with the program or something along those lines, try messing around in your graphics card control panel (CCC or NVidia control panel). Example: I highly doubt it's a arma 2 / dayz issue here but I've been wrong before.
