I found a machete in a deer stand. It's a nice weapon, looks great though not entirely happy with the way it's held (picture how the hatchet is held). One hit kill on zombies and I broke my clan members leg with one hit. Edit: It fits in the primary slot when not on your tool belt.

Bump - This is a great group, hilarious and great to play with!

Goats on the mountain are your best bet. Just be careful that you'll stick out like a sore thumb on the mountain.

I like to get an M14, I rarely grab a secondary, unless I have a backpack where I can store bandages.

I use the combat roll to play leap frog with crouched players.

Without a doubt it's Vanilla. I haven't invested as many hours into any others, though I did have a blast on Origins. Not sure what I think about it yet.

+1 for the Blade Runner quote. The only thing I've learnt with DayZ is never get attached to anything: You never know if someone will find your camp, that clever place you thought your helo was safe or that when you log on a hacker will turn off your engine and then bomb you with physical airplanes when you eject (happened last night), it is a shame sometimes though.

My misses shares the opinion of most: Too bloody long. I think I've hit around 250, not too sure. Not the longest time spent, I've got 100+ days on my WoW character (shameful, I know)

I'm 18+, very active, never actually been offended, always up for a laugh, not a dirty combat logger (if I die, I die), experienced with ARMA 2 and DayZ, English is my mother tongue and Teamspeak? I guess I can download that later! I also live in the UK! What times do you guys usually play? My work schedule can vary from time to time.

The server is in the US, however I play from the UK with a ping of roughly 140 and don't experience lag as much as you'd think.

Amazing server, lots of fun. Admins are a great laugh too.

Into the frying pan. Hey there guys! I'd like to start with an apology incase this thread could be answered by another thread around these forums. Now, I'm posting this thread just for some answers/tips. I've been playing ARMA II for who knows how long and finally decided to give DayZ a go. What tips would you give for a new player to DayZ, but a seasoned player of ARMA? Should I dive straight in and lone-wolf my way through the outbreak or should I recruit from the outside and attempt it as a team? The obvious answer may seem to get a team but what are the chances that they will slow me down, be a drain on my resources etc. The map - where should i head to, where should i avoid? When i first jump ingame what should i do after getting my bearings and a scope of terrain? Do i start with nothing? Finally: what should i look at when picking a server? I appreciate any replies and apologies for the mess, currently writing this via my phone. Peace out guys!

Thanks for replies guys. Interesting to see different opinions on the survival tactics. I'm not sure about the idea of specific loot for each person to carry as there's the possibilities of that person getting left behimd. I think I'll be getting my ARMA team on here as we're already used to working as a team, might also be safer traveling as a pack.
