They were super rare. Then their spawnrate got switched with compasses for a week. That appears to have been fixed as of last night. -
M16A2 is zeroed at 300 meters, you can't change it in DayZ. Anything before that shoots high. Also I hear using SD ammo in it will change the zeroing to 1000 meters.

I gave you a solution, you ignored it. Why bother? -
Drinks only spawn in barracks. Bandages only spawn in military and barracks. Food doesn't spawn anywhere. As a result of the lack of those spawns from general buildings clothing, packs, guns, and accessory spawns have gone up. If you really want a ghillie, now is the time.

I have not once equipped the flashlight and have had no problem picking up gear or doing anything really. I haven't had any problems spawning into zombies.

It involves a roll to distribute the energy, it could be impossible to do it on a hill depending on how it's shaped, and a large backpack would probably seriously impede it. It might not be something they go out of their way to do on missions, but they are trained for and can do it. -

I saw this when you first posted it and shared it with my friends. They thought it was silly since it is easy to carry enough medical supplies for yourself. Well now with 1.7.1 I am not so sure. If you haven't found a group already I may be interested. My group isn't exactly total bandits however, we usually don't kill people just to kill them. -

I seriously doubt the spawnrates for all those items you found has gone up. That was just the most sheer amount of luck ever. Should have gone all the way to the airfield and gotten a GPS, rangefinder, NVG, M107, and Mk48 while you were on it.
