    Suggestion for the Zombies.

because dayZ's zombies are better than normal zombies. they are very authentic infected people invented by Rockets virologist brother. that's why they run zig zag and are faster than a healthy person. also the virus can attack your spine that's why the monkey zombies...eh sorry...infected are crouching. they have back pain. don't question the dayZ zombies...d'oh!...infected. they are perfect! (and case you read this and are a total retard: i'm just kidding) :P on a serious note: i heard in some interview that Rocket is planing on adding a lifecycle for the zombies later. so weaker more hungry zombies would be slower. kind of silly when you think about it since the lifespan of a dayZ zombie isn't really long. it gets spawned when players get close and then despawned when they leave the area. maybe he'll track every zombie and save it's condition when it despawns. anyways i think it's a matter of taste and Rocket seems to like the fast and thus more dangerous zombies better. i actually agree because slow zombies are only dangerous in huge numbers and closed spaces. it would just make them even less of a hassle which would degrade them from mild annoyance to decoration assets.

    Guns & Gameplay

btw in one of the rescent interviews Rocket said that guns wearing down is something he really wants to implement. just thought i'd add that for all the angry kids with their badass "no, no and no"-posts. it's funny how one dick just takes stuff he posts from another. it's like the dayZ community is one great family of unoriginal angry persons. atleast show some wit or humor. this gets really boring to read.

    Remove sniper rifles..more realistic...

so you're the pussy in your squad, right? lol just kidding :P

Easy Solution to Solve Many Problems

this idea is good but it goes too far. it would simply break some core features. it would be much better to only save character data globally but not the position of the the character. that way the character would be global but disconnect abuse would be reduced to people who log out when they are in danger...pussies so to speak. and yea i could absolutely live with that. to avoid people camping at the beach waiting for people with good gear to spawn in there would have to be extra spawn zones in forests for people who connect and the beaches would be for the normal respawn. but i think none of this is gonna happen because i think rocket seems to find the current solution more elegant, which i get. BUT if his new punishment system doesn't work he will have to think about something more drastic because those exploits are used to a ridiculous extent, which atleast to me is absolutly game breaking and the reason i'm not really playing anymore.

Make 1911 take 7 bullets to kill

why talk about shit you have no clue about? why would you think that changing damage values isn't possible in a mod?! there are little arma mods for just that. jesus christ i can take all those retards talking nonsense but people stating stuff that just isn't true and acting all competent with it just makes me wanna vomit. you sir have no excuse for the shit you talk. you aren't a retard you're ignorant. and that's worse...

Removal of Sniper Rifles and Silenced guns.

i totally agree with Fapguy (facepalm @ the name :D). the problem aren't the sniper rifles. it's the game basicly being designed for server hopping and disconnecting when in danger. everyone who doesn't see that should find a nice spot overwatching the hills north of stary some day and enjoy the show. it's just ridiculous how many people you see just popping in sniping someone in the military tents and disconnecting again to do the same on another server. and when you shoot at them the suddenly disappear. it's like the game is designed for this. dayZ is a bit schizophrenic. on the one hand it's about hard work to get good stuff and survive with it on the other hand it just invites people to cheat (and i'm not even talking about the hacking here). and yea sniper rifles are an overpowered weapon because they are just awesome and the best choice if you want to shoot someone from a "safe" distance...that's just how it is. it's like crying about campers in games that have maps that offer "tactically overpowered" positions for people to use. but combined with the dayZ's inbuilt exploits they just created a huge mass of those people i just described. you can't even blame them. it's way too easy.
  7. it's a funny idea but kind of too silly in my opinion. if you want to solve the "bandit-problem" you should maybe stop using the word bandit. i mean seriously? who doesn't kill on sight these days? everyone is a bandit now. how about removing the murder counter instead to make killing people less of a sport? in my opinion the bandit problem was created by adding the bandit skins and the murder counter as a reward and sign of status. it simply created a myth that doesn't depict the truth. i mean there's even a seperate bandit section in the forums as if there were 2 factions, it's ridiculous. it's like the whole thing stagnated somewhere around the start. the game is what it is now. i think not even group gameplay will change that. only people on teamspeak will use that stuff and most people will still kill strangers. i mean there may be still alot of people who avoid confrontation but real cooperation with strangers is very rare. it's just a game. why would people have strong morals? and yea it's not perma-death it's more like perma-lose-your-stuff. it's all based around loot and to be more specific, weapons. it's just what it's about. in my opinion the only way would be to really force people into situations where they are dependent on a stranger in a convincing way. and i think that can only be done by a ridiculously hostile enviroment. also zombies would have to be extremly dangerous if you'd want a real desperate situation. why would there be desperation when it's perfectly easy to survive alone if not easier in some cases. and of course the choice of weapons and the amount of ammo you can find would have to be changed drasticly. if you don't have to count your ammo before you engage (because you might need it later to get food from zombie infested villages) you sure won't hesitate to take the shot at anyone. i sure don't. most of the time i have more ammo than i need. i think dayz came to a point where it's "don't change a thing if it works". "works" meaning making alot of people play it. and i think there are just some things that dayz can't deliver due to the way it works. sure human encounters (let's just say firefights :P) are intense but there's always the built in exploits and the pure natur of it being a game that will keep deeper stuff from happening. it's more of a raw "survival of the fittest" kind of thing than the "walking dead" experience. too much anonymity for any social stuff exceeding the boundaries of an already existing group to happen. sorry about the long post. your idea kind of inspired me :)

    Remove high-tech tactical devices

@Rob1: yea and in reality there wouldn't be any zombies. also hospitals would be filled with morphine and antibiotics. you would be able to drink from a lake without a bottle. morphine wouldn't fix a broken leg. you wouldn't be able to run all the time. you wouldn't get hungry/thirsty that fast. you would have to sleep, pee and poo. i could go on like this but i think you get the point. this is a game and it already is balanced in a certain way. all that is being suggested here is changing the balance.

    Remove high-tech tactical devices

very good idea! i totally agree. and people giving another of those bad ass speeches defending those high tech toys is just contradictive. you should just ignore people like Vertisce. he doesn't really have anything to say. the problem here is not realism it's about balance and making gameplay and especially PvP more intresting. one reason for the high number of those items are the hackers who destroy the balance created by the spawn probabilities. when dayz started NVGs were actually really rare. in my opinion military weapons should be very rare and the ammo for them even more. that would maybe even stimulate trade a little bit.

    Why call this zombie survival?

@Lady Kyrah: what's with people not tolerating opinions of others in these forums? last time i checked this was the suggestions section. i think people posting here realize that not every idea they have will be put in the game. so why are there still those "special" people searching for suggestion threads and annoy the topic starters with their wise-assery (i knowthat's not a word XD) about how this game is meant to be. all you're doing is disagree without any input to the discussion. why the hell waste everyone's time. no one cares if you disagree. this is an area for brain storming not stupid "i'm right you're not bs". this might not be the most original thread but still.... ps: oh i see almost 500 posts. this seems to be you're hobby...

    Why call this zombie survival?

@Lady Kyrah: he wants it to be harder. didn't you read it? contribution to the discussion = zero. on topic: i think it's a technical problem. the zombie count would increase drasticly if they were also in the wilderness. they spawn when you get close to settlements and they also despawn when you get distance to them. that's a way of keeping numbers balanced. i'd love some kind of stealthy stalker zombie type. like someone who got recently infected and is still more agile and intelligent than the normal zombie. they would have no aggro sound so you wouldn't hear them coming. stuff like that is hard to make with just a mod for arma though.

"I hate You Guys" (Cartman voice)

man i feel your pain! actually i encounter hackers everytime i play dayZ now. it wasn't like that before but now it sure is. with the hack they use they can warp around the map very fast. due to that i more than once killed a guy twice in a matter of minutes because he came back after i killed him once. your "story" describes pretty good why hacking in dayZ is even worse than in any other game because just getting the most simple stuff used to be an achievement in dayZ. and even for PvP it's the same. all the work i do to get in a good position and all the patience i invest to wait for the perfect moment to pull the trigger are worthless now too because once i search for the guy's body i realize his body is gone and then he comes back knowing exactly where i am and shoots me in the back. and even if you are more skilled than them (which is always the case...why would they hack in the first place) it won't help you. i once revenged the dead of a friend killing several guys who tried to get me too. i kept changing positions and they never knew where i was (i thought). after killing the first two i was stalking the last guy while shooting him atleast 5 times in the chest from about 200m away (which didn't kill him because the hack makes them invincible except for head shots) his buddy i just had killed appeared next to me out of nowhere with fresh top gear and a ghillie suit of course. i had to empty a whole mag into him before i killed him again. so if you have the slightest suspicion that someone is hacking just disconnect because it's not worth it if you wanna keep your stuff. i survived that time but most of the time they will bomb you or teleport behind you to get you.

    Blood Trail

nice idea! the only problem i see is that most people will stop the bleeding as soon as they can or they will bleed out anyways. so this limits the use of this to very few situations where you for example hunt someone down you just shot once in close proximity and then try to go finish him/her off. what i'm trying to say is people hardly bleed for so long that it would justify the effort to put something like that in the mod. it would make more sense if the bleeding mechanic would be changed a bit. for example that people would leave lots of blood on the ground while they're actually bleeding and once they put on a bandage it keeps slowly dripping increasing the distance between blood stains. so you'd have to wait untill the wound fully closed up.

    Build 1.7.1 Rolling Update

well, boo fucking hoo. i didn't even try it yet but all those whining people make it sound awesome. if you people prefer zombies that don't see you just because your character does x animation and has y distance over real challenging AI then i guess you should work on your skills. i for one was bored of them for a long time now. calling the old zombie behaviour AI was an overstatement anyways. it was more like really simple detection system (no offense rocket i know you had to rebuild the AI from the ground because of the whole agent vs unit thing). and reading about the tents finally being fixed gave me the weirdest boner. i don't know why it took so long but i guess....: "A wizard is never late, he arrives precisely when he means too."

Character Location tied to individual servers

totally agreed! it also integrates tents and vehicles more into the whole thing. yeah and of course it has draw backs like any suggestion. but let's be honest. the whole system like it is now is just made for the kind of exploits people use. that's why so many use them in the first place. also it's a good compromise between what we have now and having everything tied to a server. it could work really well i think. anything is better than what we have now. 9 out of 10 firefights i had ended with the others disconnecting. and people blocking loot spots in a way you can only enter them by server hopping will be avoided too. i can imagine it would be hard for rocket to kind of downgrade the system but actually the persistance would stay just not the position. and the pros outweigh the cons by far!

    Making Bloodpacks more important

just a simple balancing suggestion to make bloodpacks what they are supposed to be...a thing that makes you need other people. problem: i was on low blood very often and i never needed a blood pack because quickly scavenging for food in small villages and eating it all or killing an animal and eating its meat will do the job at much lower risk than having to go to one of the big cities to get blood. AND you won't need another player to help you. possible solution: greatly reduce the blood regeneration value of food and meat or remove it totally. it'll make being injured (low on blood) a much bigger problem and will create missions for groups if someone gets injured. also it'll maybe motivate people to form groups more. i mean like blood being an important resource which could make the fighting and player interaction more intresting in general. and let's face it. food regenerating blood instantly is plain unrealistic. just to make it clear. i don't want PvP to be reduced by this. i just think that it'll maybe increase group versus group combat, trading and having a goal in general. i know in addition to that there should be some reward for staying alive longer so people won't just respawn and let their buddies save their stuff to avoid the effects of low blood. after playing a lot i realized that bloodpacks a just a luxury item instead of a critical item. hell...most of the time i find blood on dead players i'll leave it because the food solution is way easier as i described before. it's obvious how blood packs are intended to work but it's too easy to avoid their usage.

Oh you found a Ghillie Suit and M16? That's cute.

Oh look is that a guy bragging about a gun he found in a video game? That's cute.

    Unchangeable gender

seriously? so i guess you missed the huge orange dialog warning you that you won't be able to change? i can't believe you people. where did you all come from? and yeah let's enable people to daily change their appearence as if the lack of possibilities identifying one person from another isn't bad enough already. and no i'm not talking about the bandit skins. hell these forums need much harsher rules. just delete all those threads. nothing constructive in here only very annoying people. jesus i should start to avoid this place. only makes me angry.:@
  19. watch the first part of this and tell me it's not totally awesome how you only hear them coming and then see them just right before they attack. me and bud have lots of great gameplay in pitch blackness. you guys just gotta be more patient and try it for a bit. it seems like you just played for 5 mins at night then quit and came here making a thread. ADAPT FFS! and yeah human eyes can adapt but only to a certain point. only if there's enough moonlight. star light alone isn't enough to create a reflection on the ground strong enough for your eyes to catch it. on most servers the moon will rise after a while giving more light. but as you can see in my vid it's very possible to play at pitch black darkness.

    So about the skins

^ ^ this +1000 i can't even begin to imagine how Rocket would feel if he read all of those threads. the download link clearly says not only alpha but test. they are trying things before investing time to make new art for it. i can't believe people's attitudes. you didn't even pay anything to play this awesome stuff. constructive suggestions/critiques are welcome i'm sure but this demanding whining tone in all those threads and posts has to stop. who do you guys think you are? learn coding and modelling and make your own goddamn game/mod. JESUS!
  21. sure you have to find chemlights before you can use them and sure it's hard but why do you think everyone spawns at the coast? it's really easy to find the next town/village following the coast to find a better light source than flares. and actually arma 2 is perfectly capable of simulating brighter nights. but why do that and make flares and chems useless? it will make nights just less colourful than days and take all the challenge out of it. if you respawn just equip yourself with all you need before leaving the coast. i mean i heard people saying on side chat they're totally lost so many times. and it always turned out to be their fault because they just ran in one direction without a compass or map. this game isn't just a zombie shooter/PvP game. it has all aspects of survival which includes navigation. and that's what makes it so great. i'm already getting sick of all these servers having gps activated by default which basicly breaks the mod imho. this is based on a military simulator so stop complaining about playability or dark nights being unrealistic. it's just bs and you know it. i personally play day AND night and have no problems with pings. it's just a weak argument (except for australians maybe). and also the gamma thing is the least of dayz's problems when it comes to exploits.
  22. brooklyn said (shame on me i don't know how to quote ;D): I'd say if you can make a certain area visible within a certain radius from the player as a circumference from the player say 5-10 ft across all sides that would be at least a whole lot better then absolute black, you keep both but give the user just enough to actually want to play at night and possibly find some flares so extend that visibility. 1. you start with 10 flares 2. a chemlight does exactly what you described. just throw one and pick it up. there you have your radius of light. 3. if that isn't enough pick up one of those flashlights you can find everywhere. you people need to realize that those things aren't eyecandy. they are, combined with the darkness, genius design decisions which make the game even more interesting at night. it forces players to make difficult decisions. i personally carry flares very rarely. if i use them then only to scout a place without actually going into the area they light up. all i need are chemlights. and although it has been said before. nights CAN be that dark in real life. it's just a fact so get over it! you just have to accept that dying is part of the game. and well since you don't actually die, just see it like this: what doesn't kill me makes me stronger. that's what makes us humans number one on this planet. our ability to adapt to bad conditions. to get good at this game you need to make mistakes and learn from them. if you don't like a challenge this is simply not the game for you.
