    Too many barracks and Stary Sobor tents [appeal]

    I'm not bothered by the locations so much, just the probability rates. M4's are way too easy to find in the current build, combined with the server hopping and it's just a joke right how easy it is to get tooled up.
  2. The PvP combat in SA is still very unbalanced like the mod because of the third person. In the many situations and strait up firefights I've experienced so far the same old problems appear (predominantly in urban areas/towns). Players camp, hugging walls and other objects without fear of exposing themselves. If one player moves to attack another it's suicidally impossible in most situations, aggressive play and even flanking rarely work. Despite the game having such an emphasis on reality, the combat itself feels hugely artificial and borked. The third person removes the natural "fog of war" that first person creates so instead of skill, tactics and calculated risk determining the outcome of a situation, it's often just a whack-a-mole of who moves first or pure luck. Fingers crossed the Vet/FP only servers turn up soon.

    But... can you move while doing hand gestures? I don't want to wave at some stranger only to have him shoot me perfectly in the face because I'm frozen on the spot 'waving'.

    Despite the bugs and place holder audio, the game is looking fairly good. Little details like seeing your breath really added to the immersion and sold the fact that it's a cold morning, the compass being a actually object you hold up also really sells it. I just hope the journal (if still in) and the map see a similar implementation. In preview vids the map works similar to the mod and even has that awkward 'loading' when you close it, I hope that changes. It's looking far better than the mod both graphically and usability/interface wise. But the fact that this video even got released means to me that the wait is going to be longer.

    I'm not worried about the client performance, it's likely going to be similar to Arma2 or slightly better. Unless you have an utter potato rig most people will be fine. I am more concerned about the settings and hope some of them will be either locked down or have limited changeability. That sounds strange, but it's simply because people have a tendency just to stick everything on Low to try and gain some advantage in spotting players.

    He doesn't even need to produce a vidblog, it's not time consuming to write a few paragraphs at the end of a week or month. He's dealing with the game day in day out and working with a small team so he's not exactly ill informed on what's going on. If he's that busy perhaps Hicks should take some of the PR slack... he is the producer after all.

    Frankly it's about damn time. The community shouldn't be blamed for this mess and confusion, Rocket should have never made that 'final lap' comment back in September. Ever since then his silence, the lack of updates (no devblogs) and cocktease posts by devs created this hype train. It's clearly not ready yet at all, if he had stuck to the monthly devblog format and kept everyone informed people's expectations would have been much more realistic.
