I notice some servers mention using Teamspeak, but isn't voice communication just supported "out of the box" by hooking up a mike and hitting the caps lock key when you want to talk?

So the beta patch to Arma II that I see on some servers--that's the one that allows direct comms? -
The other day and a life or two ago my guy was running through what seemed to be endless woods, and I was like, come on, I'd give anything to see some man-made feature of the terrain. I finally did come upon Lopatino (where I died), but I would have preferred just to "end it all" and come back as a new character on the beach. Is that a possible planned feature?

Thanks for the replies--pretty obvious but I'm a newb. I had a great life just now BTW...I spawned near elektro, got attacked by zombies, survived, drank my water but found a pump, made my way around the outskirts, found some good kit (a winchester with ammo), found another house with food etc., then made it to the railway station, where I climbed up on the roof, hung out for a while there. Then I went to the top of some nearby silos, what a vantage point. Great for sniping zeds with the winnie. When I finally came down though, got swarmed by zeds and died. sigh.

I ask because it always seems to take me three (I know I'm hitting becaue I see the impact). So what's up with that? Do the Z's have to bleed out or something before they die?

Just now I saw the strangest thing when I respawned near the westernnmost town, Kamenka (the one with the two overpasses to the west)--I got to a couple of trees and heard flies buzzing, so I look for a body. What I see is a dude standing stock still with his pistol in front of him, but unresponsive to anything, and I can loot him...so I did. Someone had already snagged his food and water, alas. Also, what's up with those words that appear as I type in the chat? Are they shortcuts or something? If so how do you use them? Also, what's up with my dude throwing flares in 3rd person instead of firing his freaking gun?
