Okay so my headphones are currently broken, but if that's the case and someone doesn't own a headset when people in the game talk through the mic would you hear it through your computer speakers? Or do you need to have a headset in order to hear people talking to each other in game? Thanks guys

Good stuff. I heard Cherno isn't the nicest of places. Me being a newb, I tend to stay away from there. It's good to know there are good people out there. Quick question though, you mentioned he asked you initially "Hey man are you alright up there?" was that through your headset. Because I have a headset but I lost the piece where you talk into, therefore, I can't talk, but if I had them on would I at least be able to hear people talking over the mic?

Okay so I suck enough as it is. I spawn who knows where and I attach the battery to my flashlight and then drag the flashlight into slot number 1. All of a sudden it just disappears. I tab out and then tab again only to find that it was still gone. I keep going on and come across a crowbar which never happens. I never find weapons ever. I walk over it and push in the mouse wheel and he throws it on his back. Great. I press tab and see that it automatically went into slot 1. So just messing around I click on it and take it out of slot one only to find that it disappears again. Anyone know why this is happening???

So I was just playing and saw this guy in a distance getting attacked by a zombie. It didn't look like he had a weapon to defend himself so, completely sucking royally at this game, I still decide to run over and help him because I was lucky enough to find an ax which NEVER happens. I run over and draw the zombies attention to get him off of the other guy then we both book it and eventually get away. So we're both in a somewhat wooded area now and I notice that I'm bleeding due to the zombie getting a hit on me. I still don't really know how to bandage myself, sad I know, but every time I take my shirt off to turn it into bandages it just disappears after I drag it into the vicinity box. Annoying. I don't have a working mic so I type to the guy like hey do you have any rags and he just didn't respond back to me even though he was still with me. Is there any reason? You need a keyboard to play which means you can type and talk. And he's not the only person to have not responded back when I tried to speak them. Is there something that disallows people to talk?

It says I'm in 'Direct Communicaion' is that what I have to be in in order to talk to people?

Okay thanks. Quick question for you though if you don't mind. I was literally just playing and I got attacked by a zombie so now I'm bleeding out. I pressed tab in order to get to my shirt to take it off then use it as rags, but when I clicked the shirt then dragged it into the vicinity box it disappeared and I couldn't find it. Would that be related also to my desync? And what should the ping be at for a good connection? Thanks

I personally would like to see a little bit of everything. I'm new to DayZ so staying alive past ten minutes is tough enough. I just can't seem to find any useful items and my games normally end up in me just bleeding out and going unconscious. The game is awesome though and I will get better. You should just implement everything you had as an option and that'll make for a very cool series.

So I just fixed my computer and I conveniently hear that the DayZ Standalone is out. AWESOME! One question now, how do I get it? :\ Is it as simple as downloading it from Steam, installing it, and playing it? Thanks guys and sorry for the silly question

Thanks a lot for the advice. I have a gaming headset where you can remove the piece you speak into and I did and lost it so now I'm without a working headset :S A problem I find myself getting into is when I first spawn I'll search house to house, but I never find anything at all lol I best weapon I've ever had was a shovel. Any ideas on what I can do?

Okay will do thank you. Any tips on if I run into a zombie with no weapons? Or how I should handle when other people approach me?

I'm sort of getting the hang of it myself. I try to stay away from bandits as my aim with the rifles isn't the best yet. I need to practice a bit more on killing zombies then eventually I'll get the hang of it. Hopefully..

So I told him how awesome DayZ is and how it's so much like my favorite show ever Walking Dead. I told him about the whole aspect of scavenging and surviving by finding food, drinks, and other things. He then asked me the simple question of how do you win the game. So I guess my question is if there's an objective to this game? Is it literally just to survive? If that's the case, what kind of objectives do you guys give yourself to keep you occupied? For instance, currently I'm okay with food and drink and I have a decent weapon and stuff. At first I was like okay what do I do now????? But then I figured since I don't have cooked meat for my health why don't I go out and try to find matches, a hunting knife, and a hatchet so I can go out and kill and animal, cook it, and save the cooked meat. What do you guys do to keep yourself occupied in the game?? Thanks

I'm actually only a few games into it myself. I'm sort of getting the hang of it. I think the most important part is to memorize your surroundings and learn the coastline, as it will lead you to the two main cities. I always make finding a box of matches a priority when I start because you'll need it to cook the animal meat you get, which will then be used to eat and regain your health. I'm far from an expert, but I'm just making sure I go into the game with an objective and it really adds to the excitement factor.

I'm two days into this game myself. I've watched tons of videos and feel like I can hold my own. I honestly don't know how much guidance I can offer you being two days in myself and all, but I wouldn't mind having someone else to loot with.

So I'm my third day into DayZ and I'm loving it more and more every day. What I've finally come to realize is that it's truly a dog eat dog world out there! So here I am, no clue as to where I am, but I'm strolling by some church doing pretty well for myself with an AK, some bandages, water, all the necessities and I'm thinking I'm good to go. Out of nowhere bullets whiz past me and I'm thinking that someone is actually helping me out and taking out a Z for me, but nope. I proceeded to get popped in the head and everything I worked so hard for is gone... People here always said don't trust anyone and fire on sight and it actually happened to me. I'm always one to want to team up with someone and try to survive, but I'm finding it hard to run into someone with the same intentions. If anyone out there wants to team up and do this please let me know. I am new, but I got a good grasp on what I need to do thanks to multiple YouTube videos hehe. So lets do this

Hey guys. I just finished building a computer that will hopefully run this game smoothly because I've been waiting for months!!! I'm new to PC gaming and the thought of using a keyboard and mouse to navigate scares the living crap outta me lol. I wanted to know if it was a good idea to hook up and use my Ps3 or Xbox controller instead. If I do am i at a disadvantage?? I'll consider buying a pc gaming controller if it isn't too expensive. Also being a "bambi" are there any tips you guys can give me to start off ? Im a straight up gamer and very loyal. Thanks guys
