A month or so ago I had a good run finding peoples camps, raiding their tents and driving off in one of their vehicles jam packed full of their gear. From my experiences the best place to find / steal peoples vehicles is in wooded areas near roads either in the middle of the map or up north. Peeps always seem too lazy to drive off road for long so they just dump their vehicles about 100m into a wood near a road.

Unarmed surviors / hero's are safe from me, unarmed bandits get one between the eyes any time I see one.

Its frowned upon but accepted as an element of PVP (albeit a very lame one)

I suggest firing a follow up shot quicker to make sure you get the kill. If the loser still manages to combat log while he's unconscious then just camp the spot where he logged. When he logs back in rinse and repeat.

Shhhhh Berezino is my homebase on the server I play on, Its great only seeing one or two ppl up there and having the loot mostly to myself. I think its mostly empty because most players are either: Circle jerking in Elecktro / Cherno Playing DM in Elecktro / Cherno Heading to NWAF / Stary Too stupid to work out how to get off the coastline

Im the opposite, I always use water bottles and never boil the water. Since the patch i have caught 1 yes 1 cold through unboiled water.

Ive seen mid tier military ammo in deer stands since the patch but no weapons to accompany them

For the last few couple of months I thought i had found valhalla, A private hive with a vanilla ruleset. Then last week the server admin decided to give new spawns a coyote backpack a pretty much full toolbelt, food, drink grenades and a g36 camo with 4 mags. Havent bothered logging back in since Friday...

On Monday I died thanks to Arma 2's interpretation of physics slid me down a rock, trapped me in a hole and then decided to break my legs and kill me when I dared move my player... On Thursday I died thanks to Arma 2's interpretation of physics resulted in me breaking every bone in my players body when I fell off my push bike... Is this, quite frankly god awful physics modelling going to be changed in the standalone, or will jumping from 2 meters still break my legs / knock me out?? Is this, quite frankly god awful environmentally induced player damage modelling going to be changed in the standalone, or will tent guy lines still break my legs / knock me out???

From what I heard in the dev blog the current speed of the zeds was upped due to the problems with the pathfinding, This could mean that with the fixed pathfinding the zeds speed may be reduced.

I would have suggested the private hive i play on but unfortunately they have now decided to give new spawns a g36 camo , coyote backpack and loads of kit........

Your white skin will make you stand out even more. Once you go black you never go back :D (even better when you use the face camo aswell)

I dont know wether its down to changing my FOV or the velocity of the .50 round but ive noticed that (without zero'ing) you dont need to use the mil dots until your target is over 400m

I try and avoid the bandit skin because I think having a white shemagh sort of makes you easier to spot so I try and limit my murders to one or two a day so I retain my survior face (which has camo paint)

Alot of good info in this thread, the maxVram param has helped smooth things out for me. Another basic tip (which i overlooked to start with :P) is checking your free memory and closing down unneccesary processes, Now this isnt really relevant for 64bit OS's but if your like me running Win7 32bit with 4GB of ram then freeing up 2gig for dayz can be a challenge when you take into account the OS overhead and any other processes running. With all the optimisations suggested on this forum I still got intermittent frame stutter until I realised I only had 1.4GB of memory free when I was telling Dayz I had 2 Gb free.... After closing down some processes I was left with 2.2 GB free and when I launched Dayz all the stuttering had gone! I will be upgrading to 64bit for the standalone so I can up the ram and load all the pbo's into a ramdisk for even better performance but things are pretty sweet until then P.S Add your arma/arma OA/steam folders to your AV exclusions, This also had a significant impact on performance P.P.S If you launch through Steam you do not need to be 'online', switching to offline mode will make Steam use 50MB less memory ;)

I didnt buy the bundle as I already bought Arma 2 OA, I did however buy the Brit dlc as it was only £2.99 so the camo clothing I often wear now actually looks like camo clothing

In my life before last I went 21 YES 21 days without firing a shot at another player. To be honest it drove me bat sh*t crazy so I satisfied myself with a 500m dmr headshot on a axe weilding survivor

Yeah I get this alot when placing tents, It comes down to the type of pine you are trying to place near/in. There are 2 types, one with wide branches and another with narrower branches. The pine with the wider branches generally doesent cause me problems, the branches seem more 'transparent' from a interacting with objects perspective. The pine with the narrow branches however seems more solid and can really cause problems. An easy way to distinguish between the 2 is trying to walk through the tree's branches, if they block you when you move through the tree then dont pitch a tent
