I play on a core 2 quad @ 2.6ghz and it handles arma2 / dayz with no problems, the OP's i5 should be more than sufficient. You could actually get better performance if you increase your gfx settings (if your gfx card is good enough ofc) as you will be filling up your gfx cards memory instead of your ram / swap file and making the gfx card take on work your cpu would be doing. Get MSI afterburner and monitor the gpu usage + mem usage as you increase the gfx settings in game. My GTX460 used like 40% gpu / 300mb on low settings and 60/70% / 500mb on high settings, so not stressed out enough to cause problems imo. The big performance killer in this game is swapping the large game files in and out of memory & swap file , especially if you have less than 2gb of RAM free . If you have 64bit windows and 4gb of RAM free after arma 2 has taken its max memory of 2gb then get a ram disk put the game core pbo's into it and then get a app to rewrite the filesystems symbolic links for these pbo's so arma reads the pbo's in your ramdisk. This will result in a pretty sweet fps increase / 'stutter' elimination.

Yea the admin on the private hive I play on decided to place one on the big hill NW of Berezino a couple of weeks ago, I think its a template off the internet / borrowed from another mod because it sounds exactly like yours. I couldnt find a way into it either and the only way I watched ppl get inside was to spawn inside it or land in a heli. I see it was a UK server like the one I play on, did it have '45 vehicles' 'gmt-5' and 'beginners welcome' in the desc?

Yup I avoid Elecktro + Cherno like the plague and live up north, my current char has gone 36 days without a single murder :P . It does get a bit boring though so currently Ive ditched all my good kit in one of my tents , headed south and am camping the road north out of Eleckro for bandits.

This ^ Though I havent experienced the exact same problem as the OP when I first started playing dayz I experienced alot of kit / weapons vanishing after logoff on the public and private hives. I think a corrupt / incorrectly installed dayz mod was to blame.

I also have 4gb and it was only when I realised that I didnt actually have 2 gig free and rectified the problem that the fps drops and stutters were really reduced (I use the -maxMem=2047 startup parameter). Use this startup parameter and see if the fps drops are reduced AFTER checking you definately have 2gig + free memory. I see you have win7 64bit, as your cpu is 'okayish' and your gfx card is ok The cheapest option for you would be to buy more ram, If more ram doesnt stop the fps issues altogether you will then be able to go down the ram disk route as you will now have enough ram to load a ram dive into memory without depriving dayz / windows of ram p.s your issues are HDD/RAM/game config related It has nothing to do with your gfx card (though it is possible to further improve performance by actually increasing some quality settings from my experience), I have a GTX460 O/C'd by 25% and dayz with max settings only uses 60% GPU :P

Yes, as a tent thief I should have the option to pack up other peoples tents. Ive found quite a few empty tents on my travels to date and it would have been nice to take them. As for the bug/thief comment I hack down peoples tents with the hatchet after ive raided them anyways so unless the owner gets back to the location before a server restart nothing would have changed in this regard, bing bong tent gone!

Yes, camo clothing, ghillie suit and all BAF vehicles + weapons will look better with the higher res textures. I bought the BAF addon for £3 when it was on sale a month ago because I was sick of my crappy textured camo clothing.

Good, its a horrible addition and almost as if the devs thought "hey players can spot for zed spawns in cities to determine if there are players about, lets do the same in the wilderness.... " . Being 100m in a forest and then spotting zeds spawn 200 meters away in the bordering clearing is just bullshit.

I ran into this problem a while ago, after trying the steps below i sorted it out 1. Reinstall the mod 2. Make sure you have exactly the same arma 2 beta patch as the server you are running on 3. If you have the steam version of arma / arma:oa installed you MUST launch through steam for it to allow you to use your mic

Im confused, Isnt windage already implemented in Arma2? I say that because i remember that it was certainly a feature in OFP and that was over a decade ago. From memory shots were definately affected by wind in OFP and you used to determine the wind speed + direction via map ui elements, strange if they took it out from arma etc..

If you search you will find a arma fan site that has all the faces / camo variants. Basically go to your player settings file in Users/Documents/Arma OA and add '_camo01' to '_camo06' (theres 6 variants to choose from) to the end of your players face name to select. Make sure you dont try and view your face in game via player settings or it will wipe your change. Yea poorly implemented imo, Alt+Tabbing, r-click on game select 'close' does the job for me :D

Well you can launch multiple instances of Arma 2 so If you have a good enough PC and the server doesnt restrict multiple logins from the same IP then you should be able to multi box

Once i went down to Cherno to hunt some bandits/snipers. After watching the town for about an hour and seeing no signs of life I suddenly spotted an axe wielding survior on top of one of the apartment blocks. Boredom got the better of me so as the survivor started to climb down the roof ladder I fired a shot from my dmr. Player xxxx was killed, Ooops i really wasnt expecting to hit him and I immediately didnt feel proud about what I had done, this shame however was countered 5 seconds later by an immense sense of pride as it was a 500m+ headshot. :D

Along the same lines as this, Stood on top of a ridge at willow lake to scan the horizon, slid down the ridge into a rock surrounded hole which I couldnt climb out of. Tried to move, broke my legs, unconscious, dead.... Amazingly though i did manage to get all the way back up there (90% on foot) from Kamenka to get my kit back before the server restarted :D

Fookin ell u guys still going? I was a member back in OFP:Res days This map will still be useful for some i.e safely marking their camp / vehicle locations, I however use a tablet with the dayzdb map running on it on my desk :D

I think It may have been combat logging, If you feel you have enough blood to survive the knockout timer then killing the game process while unconscious should theoretically allow you to log back in with the blood you have left.
