If the mechanics could be done properly, I think it would be beneficial to have a cargo variant of the Mi-17 have a chance to spawn. There could be a small cargo door either on one of the sides or in the rear. From this cargo bay, the passengers could have the option to switch to a small stored vehicle, such as a couple of bicycles or an ATV and drive out of the heli (then drive back on and reenter later). This could allow groups to split up and cover more ground (searching land and air) or just help out some stranded survivors. To make room for this, the seats could be reduced to a modest 6-8 people, maybe less space for items as well.

Maybe some variant like a mountain bike that would do well getting up hills offroad.

Whatever would be easier for the devs. Might be better for them to stick with what they have already, though.

1. It's a cool idea, but in a fairly slow game like DayZ there are only a few times when you even have the opportunity to fix things, let along need to do it quickly. I could see it being useful for morphine or blood transfusions. It would just depend on how fast they want to make these actions in the future. 2. Cool idea. Don't know how they would do it, but cool. 3. There should be a lot more you can do with a heavier heli like the Mi-17, even carry small vehicles. Then again, the thing probably shouldn't be a flying warehouse. 4. Yeah, I'd probably rather blow my brains out that have to play with a bum leg and my ass flapping in the wind.

All the reason to make it work for only a small, fairly common, or even inferior vehicle.

Not saying that's what I want - quite the opposite. Just using an different view to illustrate my point, my good man. Sometimes I wonder though, those guys can scare the bejesus out of me coming and busting through closed doors.

Yes, something to look at further down the line for sure.

Realistically, I suppose there has to be some suspension of belief in a game like this in the first place. From a gameplay standpoint, the zeds just need to be quick enough to pose some threat to a person on foot. I like how they are now in that I can still outrun them, but should I hang around too long, they will be on me like white on rice. In all honestly, we dont even know what the disease could have done to them - if they have super strength, senses, etc.
