    Flashlight Discussion (Headlamp)

Pointing it straight at the ground when you bring up your gun makes no sense and makes what could be a great item completely and utterly useless.

    IRL Hero

Posted in a thread titled "IRL Hero"
  3. I actually just today found a small yellow case, i forget what it was called in game. It functions like a med-kit in that it takes up 4 spaces but stores 6, but as far as I can tell there isn't any specialization. I stuffed a bunch of food inside and it holds it nicely. No idea if it has any protective quality though, but it sure helps with the space.
  4. The reason I personally hate night time is because the other people in the server have their gamma and brightness etc. settings jacked up so they're playing a completely different game than I am. I can always do the same, but it's obviously an exploit and ruins immersion and furthermore, what's the point then? Might as well just play on a day server.

    Drink disinfectant....why?

The will to survive. And fallout.
  6. First player was nice, second player.. probably the most bizarre experience I've had in either the mod or SA. First player: First day of SA, pitch black night. We both just spawned on the beach and saw each others flashlights and promised not to kill each other. Exchanged some info on differences between the mod and the SA (spawn rates, etc) and parted ways. Pleasant guy. Second player: I made it to Balota and was searching the camo building when I got messages showing I was dehydrated. I didn't have any liquid and so I tried to drink from the sink in the jail area and there was no option to. Desperate, I went over to the toilet and I had the option to either "pick up disinfectant" that was sitting on the bowl, or to "drink." I was a little disgusted at the thought of drinking from a horrible toilet, but it was better than dying so I chose "drink." Only when it was too late did I notice the animation was not bending over the toilet, but rather picking up the bleach and chugging it. I started getting messages about feeling horrible and my vision started going really blurry. I walked out of the building and saw a flashlight nearby, but I was too far gone to really see who it was. I called out friendly on voice, but as I did so, a black guy with nothing but a white tshirt on came up right in front of me and started punching me. I panicked and started running but he caught up to me and kept punching me. I ran in circles for a while and eventually gained some ground so I was far enough ahead of him I could turn a corner and go prone before he caught up. I hid in the grass as the blurry man ran past me. I died pretty soon after that, probably from chugging the bleach. ..Definitely a weird night.
  7. This. Also increasing the indicators to show not only when you're hungry but also when you're full and regaining blood.

    Gettin' Yo Blood Back Yo!

Does anyone have any idea what rate you lose hydration and energy if you're just f3ing?

    Grey, grey and more grey..

Ya I'm fine with having an ambiguous amount of health and with having health regen really slowly, but if that's the case I need to know if it's actually regenerating at all. The only way to tell shouldn't be to waste 2 hours of your life sitting in the woods. That's not realistic, it's just dumb.

    Grey, grey and more grey..

I ate and drank until I was about to throw up, sat down for an hour, and there was no improvement in my condition of grayness. Either it's bugged or there need to be some sort of indicator that you're regaining health. I don't even want to play now until there is because I'm not sure if I'm close to death or not.

    Drink disinfectant....why?

My first time playing the standalone I was dehydrated and I came upon a toilet with some disinfectant sitting on it. I walked up to the toilet and I had a the options "drink" and "pick up disinfectant." I don't think it was unreasonable of me to think that by choosing "drink" my character would try to drink out of the toilet and not the bleach, but I was in for a surprise.

    Loss of colors

That's heartening to read and of course it is indeed just alpha. It seems like something that should be relatively easy to implement and is desperately needed- I hope they make it a priority.

sick how to cure besides antibiotics?

Is there a possibility that diseases go away on their own? I got sick before the update, so I didn't expect the new UI to show I was sick given it was a previous condition. The new indicator, however, did say I was sick, but then later the sickness indicator disappeared without to my knowledge my doing anything (except maybe some resting and eating?). Or am I still sick and it just isn't showing it.
  14. Is there any identifiable way to know if you're meeting the requirements to be gaining health other than waiting for at least half an hour to see if there are any visual changes? There's now an indicator for when you're hungry/thirsty, but still no way of knowing if you're full? You get some text if you're stuffed, but nothing saying whether you're fully hydrated? And how quickly do you lose energy/hydration if you're just standing still? I ate and drank until I got messages saying I was close to throwing up and then waited around for an hour and my screen is still gray, which I thought was due to low health but now I just have no idea what the game is trying to tell me. This UI is ridiculous.

    Loss of colors

This is my biggest problem with the UI. I have the same problem and I'm sure it's because I'm low on health, but I just spent 2 hours sitting in the woods after drinking 2 canteens and eating an inventory full of food and I'm still grey. Absolutely no indication of if I gained any health or if something else is causing it or anything. There's no good reason to not have indicators for when you're full if you're going to have indicators for when you're hungry. All it does is make playing the game more frustrating.
