I suck at blender and have not used it much but to look for coloring tutorials try something like "Blender UV maps". Or depending on what you are using it for you could just apply a texture to it when its inside something else like Unity. As for extending. Select an area that you want to expand and drag out? Or in things like Unity you can also change the scale of its X,Y,Z axis. Sorry if it is not very useful.

I may be alone in this opinion. But it seems they have given us a decent of information and updates about it when comparing it to most other games(Although there is few games i follow like this so it could just be how much i am following this compared to other games). -
