    So, i've been having some trouble with the DayZ Standalone since picking it up on sale a few days ago. Basically, anything that requires an item to be dragged onto another item in the invetory menu cannot be used because the text that should pop up does not appear. For example, i can place a pristine can of beans in-hand. Then i drag my worn can opener over the can. Instead of being able to select "Open Beans" (or whatever it says), i just see a box that says "Recieving" for a split second, then the text disappears and the item's description appears. On two separate occasions, on two different servers, i was able to open two cans, but when i went to open a third, the "Receiving" text appeared, despite having worked properly just seconds before. This also prevents me from combining pieces of maps (all 4 in my inventory right now, none of them ruined) and reloading the rifle i found. There's nothing sadder than a pristine rifle and a pack full of pristine ammo that somehow can't be loaded into the weapon. And yes, it is the correct ammo for the rifle (i found it loaded on a dead survivor, fired off the rounds already loaded to try it out... and now can't load any more rounds) This problem exists across every server i've connected to, and has continued despite verifying the game's cache (and even deleting the .exe and other random files to force new files to download). I've gotten nothing from google on this, so any help would be appreciated.

    bump! stable 0.5 released the other day and i thought that with a new version this issue might have resolved itself. i was wrong. alas, the battery i spawn with is still bent slightly and won't fit into the flashlight. the canned food is encased in some sort of ultra-strong, can opener-resistant material. is ANYONE having this issue besides me? is the target area where the battery has to go on the flashlight just incredibly small and i'm missing it 99 out of 100 times?

    I don't recall the exact bandwidth specs of my connection. If it's relevant, my bit-torrent client shows simultaneous peak 3.5 MB/s down, 3 MB/s up speeds when the queues are full (but no, it's not running while trying to play online games).

    Perhaps, but this seems unlikely. The problem occurs on every server to which i connect, and, since i can't do much in the game, i'm primarily running around by myself on empty servers. Unless a DayZ server can be overtaxed by a single player, i think something else is wrong.

    i've noticed "SmokeShellYellow" appear in the CreateVehicle and AddMagazineCargo logs recently. the entries are always associated with one particular player. is this a valid dayz item? i don't recall yellow smoke being available.

  10. Hello, I've been hosting an official-hive and a private-hive server using HFB Servers as a provider for about two months now. After this period of time, I felt that I should warn others who might be considering HFB as a server provider: HFB has no clue about customer service, and I'm pretty sure their "tech support" staff are just sitting around google-ing the issues sent to them. First, my issue is not with the servers themselves. When I play on either of my servers I have a stable, relataively lag-free experience. Neither server has ever outright crashed during a game, and the few minor glitches that have affected gameplay have always been known DayZ bugs.. The people there at HFB... that's another issue. About a week ago a hacker visited one of my servers and broke the entire game; a week later, that server is still down due to the bumbling, ineffectual efforts of HFB "tech support". I have asked repeatedly that they just reset the server files to a fresh-install state, but apparently that's too much for them to handle. So, what's it like submitting a support ticket with HFB, you ask? When opening a support ticket with HFB, the user must decide whether the issue being reported is of Low, Medium, or High priority. I sent in a minor issue months back and marked it as Low Priority. I got an answer back in about half an hour. But now, when the server isn't even operable, and I've essentially payed for a week's worth of server operation on a down server? Over 24 hours between responses after marking that issue High Priority. As icing added to that fuck-you delay in response, they seem to routinely wait until the end of their business day to send out replies, thus ensuring that if their fix doesn't resolve your issue, you will be waiting another 24 hours for another reply. And, as some more fuck-you icing, replying to your own support ticket, be it to add info that might help them resolve the issue or just telling them that they suck balls, will send your support ticket to the bottom of the list. Every time. Here's the message that I get from their support service the most. Enjoy. "This is an auto reply. You have submitted a ticket outside our normal business hours. Although we try to answer tickets 24/7, tickets submitted outside normal hours may have a longer response time than those submitted during normal hours. To keep your ticket a top priority for faster response time, please refrain from replying to your own ticket, as this will simply change its priority to a much lower one and will cause a delay in our responses." I receive my once-a-day response from their "tech support", usually about 5 or 6 o'clock in the evening, local. I can usually test their fix and report back in less than half an hour. And when I respond to say "No, it's still broken", I get that automatic response every time, each time within half an hour of their message. WTF, right? I work in a customer service industry, and I can say that the company I work for would probably go out of business very quickly if we treated customers in this fashion. It's the equivalent of ordering a pizza in the morning, having to wait all day for delivery, then finding that they sent you the wrong pizza. You call the pizza store to get your order fixed, but the store has since closed and you just get a recorded message with a choir of 12 year-olds chanting "Fuck you / We're keeping your money" in harmony. HFB has been in operation as a DayZ server provider for about eight months, making them the oldest server provider for DayZ (their claim). From their current level of service, I can only conclude that they've been providing horrible service for that entire eight months. They are considerably cheaper than other server providers that I looked at, but it seems that their discount price comes with terrible support and a general lack of interest in providing the services that you have paid for. Hosts, consider yourselves warned.

This server is for DayZ players with a survivalist playstyle, not simple deathmatchers. We encourage interaction and grouping with other players. We appreciate your efforts to make this into a well-populated server with a predominantly non-douchebag playerbase. At present we have granted whitelist status to over 25 players, and the list is growing daily. We are also aware of a problem with DayZ AntiHax that has caused several players to be banned after helicopter crashes. This issue is currently under review, and all affected players should be un-banned by the next server restart, 10AM Pacific.   16. Once we establish the reason behind the ban we can, hopefully, restore your access to the server. Open Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead and select "Player Profile" from the Main Menu. Select your player, select Edit, then locate your Player ID at the bottom of the screen. This is different than your GUID, but should serve to help us locate you in our server logs.
