    [SA]WeaponZ Survey

    I'm going to get hate for this. But I think large calibre weapons with scopes should be incredibly rare or should be 'unzeroable' and stuck at ~150m, either that or remove the zeroing indicator for them. Gameplaywise it would hopefully encourage player interaction through shorter engagement distance. Simulationwise nobody knows how to attach and zero a scope to 700m without firing the rifle a few times. Engaging targets at over 500m = Extremely Low risk, High reward Engaging targets at under 500m = Low risk, High Reward Engaging targets at under 150m = Medium risk, High reward Engaging targets at under 50m = High risk, High reward Possible solution = less scopes, less large calibre rounds and more of everything else. inb4 u got mad cos u got snipd n u dont no how to play I've never been kiled by a sniper in DayZ:SA but I have been shot at by several and wounded by one

    Post Your Gear So Far

    2nd character since release. Been shot twice. There is a magazine in the pistol. Yet to find an RIS guard to mount my weapon torch on. The weird thing next to the epipen is a leg brace.

    I can just see the ozzys holding each oher up for AFL team gear now, "Done shewtim, ew'll reek eet, ya gala" Yeah that sort of stuff doesn't work in a game. In reality, yes the person who doesn't smoke but hordes cigarettes can trade them for chocolate, alcohol, coffee, rations, sentry duty or work detail, they are also a hated member of the team.

    Because smokes are addictive and the harder they are to get the more they are worth (prison, apocalypse or war). Addiction is something that hardly ever works in a videogame though.

    I was hanging out behind a low wall in a front yard when I saw two guys running down the main road towards me, they were about 30m away and the only think I was thinking was "oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck" they ran past without looking but it made me wonder how often it happens the other way around.   19. Will the update wake up characters who are unconscious? My character survived two axe weilding bandits and finally got a decent amount of gear only to fall over later due to a throbbing headache. Sidenote: Really? He got hit with a splitting axe and he's complaining about a headache?
  20. I kill everybody on sight and it is a huge advantage. That said a realistic perk would be survivors getting the shakes for 2 minutes after they kill a player (bandit/survivor/hero). After the 2nd or 3rd player they don't get shakes anymore. EDIT: This is NOT the thread for this topic. Sorry. Hey how about a Savage 69RXL pump action shotgun!? Yeah that'd be sweet. Download .3DS model.
  21. I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but I saw that books were in the game, are there going to be army field manuals or medical journals added? And in saying that will certain books allow the character to do extra things, for example an army FM might allow you to set small game traps, construct water collecting apparatus for your canteen, start a smokeless fire (not really smokeless), a medical journal would let the player know what blood types are compatible without alt+tabbing. You know what I'm getting at!

  24. The dog barking in one of the un-enterable apartment buildings in Celle makes me sad everytime I hear it. Poor doggy, I'd give you some beans if I could.
  25. Some of these have been suggested before but since the forum roll back they disappeared so here goes. Alternate food sources -items are already in game they just need a script to make them not infinite. Apple from apple tree -decrease hunger, decrease thirst, 100 blood Pear from pear tree -Same as above Pumpkin -decrease hunger, no change in thirst, 400 blood Red berries from berry trees -no change in hunger, no change in thirst, no change in blood, 25% chance to be knocked out Tall white mushrooms on forest floor -increase hunger, increase thirst, -100 blood and 100% chance to be knocked out Brown mushrooms growing on stumps -decrease hunger, increase thirst, no change in blood Potato -decrease hunger, no change in thirst, 100 blood, 5% chance to be knocked out Egg -Found in chicken coops, same stats as a can of beans. If cooked the blood recovery is 400. Sunflower seeds? -They are nutritious and they do grow in Chernarus... If these are made inventory items then modelling a brown paper bag would be the simplest way to display them on the ground after you pick them. The numbers and effects are just brainstorming, but you get the idea. The knock out effect is not immediate, it would be 5-10 minutes after eating. Alternate water sources -Ability to drink straight from ponds -Ability to drink straight from water pumps -Ability to drink from and fill water bottle from wells -Ability to drink from and fill water bottle from spouting around houses when it is raining. -Able to search trash cans for a chance to spawn: Empty can, empty tin can, empty whiskey bottle, scrap metal OR empty plastic bottle. -Empty plastic bottle can be used as a water bottle. Puddles? Too hard to add. Counter balancing the new food and drink sources -Less tins of food spawn. -Water from ponds and wells needs to be boiled or it has a chance of poisoning the player. (But what if they drink the wrong one? Tough. It is up to the player to separate the pond water from the drinking water in their backpack) The immediate effects of these additions would be a more interactive environment. The long term effects, I don't know... maybe more tears on the forums when players eat the white mushrooms and die. Thanks for reading. tl;dr i liek choclat milk
