  1. This is the fourth thread about STMovement. There has been no word about it from the DayZ devs but the developer of stmovement says it is alright to include in DayZ as long as it is not modified in anyway. The general consensus of players is mixed, some believe it would be great, some would like a toned down version, while some are hostile towards any change to the Alpha. I assume it is because not every player has experienced the horror of being chased upstairs in this house.
  2. How about a creative subforum where people could post 3d models, textures and arma coding? And an already suggested suggestion list pinned in the suggestion forum while the suggestion subforum has duplicates moved or removed with an ironfist. Too many threads pop up suggesting the same thing because people don't take the time to search before posting.
  3. Do backpacks get their own hitbox? It would be funny/awesome to be able to lose things when your bag gets shot. Headshots should ruin NVGs, I know NVGs are expensive but I don't think they make them bulletproof.

    How to learn the map?

    Single player -> Editor -> Chernarus Double click somewhere Unit type -> Air -> Helicopter I like to spawn enemy and friendly combatants around the map too so I can enjoy the DayZ background gunfire and occasional stray bullet.

    Radios and removal/limiting text chat

    Rocket has said he wants to remove global and side chat. Until then there are ways to communicate in it without giving away your position, I use headings, distance and 'enterable building' often. Regarding radios, they work great in Fonline and I'd love to see them in DayZ. There's actually some pretty popular topics about them in this suggestion forum already.

    I like the unnaturally dark nights in DayZ.. Well I did, now I've decided not to log in until I find some NVGs during the day. They're incredibly overpowered and apparently common thanks to people duping.
  7. [[Vehicles]] - Add them, lots of them. The storyline might explain where they all went. I will hazard a guess and say they were destroyed long ago to help contain the infection. [[Guns]] - More small weapons, less military hardware. I believe this is being worked on right now. Though I disagree with you about civilians having abundant pistols. [[Wounds]] I've only ever been killed cleanly once by another player. Every other time I was knocked out and either got up later or was executed. Zombies do eat downed players already and it is fun to watch, especially if you are responsible.

    I too have wandered around starving with uncooked meat in my pack wondering why I couldn't eat it. It would be nice if road flares could start fires too, for some strange reason they're much more common than matches.

    Allow stmovement!

    It's one type of realism vs. another type of realism. It isn't realistic to peek around a doorframe with an enfield but at the same time it isn't realistic to get your pistol caught on a shelf and have to back out of a building to turn around. I would prefer stmovement to be included fully but you can see how some people would not. You can compromise and modify stmovement so it has varying degress of effectiveness but the creator of the mod states in the terms & conditions that this isn't allowed. However, it is hardly a mod that couldn't be recreated easily it would just be unfair to the original creator.

    I was thinking last night about how break open weapons would work without having the same problem as the crossbow (one arrow takes one inventory space because of how ArmA uses magazines) For single shot break open guns it isn't really a problem, just have an 8 round 'magazine' and make the pause between shots a few seconds long with a break open animation then make reloading after the 8 shots take the same amount of time. I can't work out double barrel guns though, how do you make it pause between 2 shots without having 2 round 'magazines' ? http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=12338 I'll have a look at this tonight and see if he managed it.

    Solutions to 1.5.7 gripes.

    I had the opposite problem today, it was great. Crawling around NW airfield I accidentally alerted a horde and the only place I could run was into a hanger. 6 mags and many, many dead zombies later I was still in trouble, they were still coming, zig zagging over their fallen brothers and glitching through the wall behind me. I put my makarov to the side of my head and said my last words "Curse you Rocket!" I shut my eyes and pulled the trigger. The click of a firing pin on an empty chamber punctuated the silence that now crept over the airfield. I opened my eyes. The zombies had all disappeared, even the bodies. Best glitch ever.

    best thing to do would be the few simple models you mentioned and post pictures here, it worked for the guy with the zombie reskin. Single shot break open shotgun would take me an hour to texture and model in 3dsmax, in p3d it would take me a day. and birdshot would be funny to have in game, where i'm from it is more common than buckshot or slugs.

    You are not alone, other people are thinking the same thing. http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=2624 Modelling in Arma is complicated so it's pretty awesome that Harry took the time to offer his services I doubt there will be many more volunteers for a while.

    It was obligatory because I know they will be brought up over and over again. I do agree about the SKS though, it is a nice in-between rifle.

    Yes. I really hope you get on the DayZ team you seem to know your stuff. Single shot, break open and bolt action are exactly the direction DayZ should be taking. I would suggest you look at Toz .22's and converted k98k .22s instead of american brands though. Break open shotguns are so generic you can't even tell one brand from the other but there are eastern european and asian brands that would probably make it to chernarus. obligatory mention of SKS and Nagants
  17. The popularity is great and I'm happy for Rocket and the recognition he is receiving from the rest of the gaming community. I'm also happy that developers are being forced to take notice that we are enjoying a game that is well outside of their marketing comfort bubble. After reading posts from the dev team I am reassured that if the alpha was shut down tomorrow I wouldn't care because I know that when it is eventually released it will be awesome. [/asskissing]
  18. If they didn't run so fast maybe their pathfinding wouldn't be so wacky, they could do with a stumbly type running animation that is the same as a tired player's running speed.

    Made a new bandit skin for you guys

    This entire thread is hilarious. I love the new skin, it is shame .p3ds are so hard to modify. Maybe if we make enough textures bandits will have to deal with random skin selection when they join a server like survivors do (only one survivor skin is any good the rest can be seen from miles away, the bandit skin however is perfect camo every time)
  23. The majority of pre-flight checks are carried out solely to conform with the Flight Manual so the air operator doesn't get sued. As Pilot in Command you have the final authority to decide what is more detrimental to the safety of an operation (zombies or radio check). We can assume you are safe from a CAA investigation in a world where zombies are walking the earth. TL : DR It is a nice thought but in reality those switches take 2 seconds to flick and pre-flight checks can be skipped in an emergency.
