  1. actually when the food becomes scarce' date=' people would actually resort to killing and eating each other. lets get this into the game. btw, your whining to rocket is arrogant and misplaced. if you can't take the constant threat of pvp, gtfo. [/quote'] The thing you forget is zombies won't spawn in real-life. You can drive to the big malls and get all the food you would need for atleast a year to come. After that is done you can drive to a big farm in the middle of nowhere, kill the few zombies that are in the area and start living on the food you have until crops are ready and you can harvest them and breed and kill the animals on the farm if needed. How do you think people lived in the the stoneage? all that shows is that you're a bit ignorant to population and the needs of that population. there's a reason food is constantly shipped to stores. grocery stores would be tapped in a matter of hours, especially given panic. if you think that some morality would perceiver in any apocalyptic situation, you're mistaken. cannibalism would abound within short order. there are plenty of survival stories to back up such a scenario. 100k people live within my area. there are maybe 6 grocery stores. do the math.

  3. gallery section. that's where this post belongs. this section is for discussing the game, not showcasing the people playing it.

    37 murders and counting..

u mad, a meme made popular in 2010, still used by the type of guy who thinks IOU jackets are still in style. Throw that shit out of you vocabulary bro, its got mold on it.
  5. completely retarded post considering the scope of the play area. this isn't a cod map. gtfo. why don't you practice that "being aware of everything" next time you decide to go to the nw airfield.
  6. This isn't some preachy thread about how server hopping is ruining this or that, or that rocket better fix my free alpha NOW so that I can have everything exactly how I want it. Its merely a suggestion. If you aren't a fan of server hoppers systematically looting the airfield, me and a couple buddies have found a fantastic new layer to the pvp in this game. we simply go into low populated night servers and sit in the barracks and wait for people to spawn in (2nd or 3rd room is best because they tend to spawn in at either end). Of course its risky, but their are 2 fantastic outcomes to this practice. You need only simply wait around and someone brings a ton of great loot to you, and of course, you get to make a guy very sad. Its all about layers of trolling here. I think these guys are getting bored. Lets give them a challenge. I guarantee you the glee you will feel shortly after murdering a collector just by sitting around and waiting is second only to finding a parking lot and server hopping every last bit of loot they've collected away, then blowing the crap out of the vehicles as a final insult. And yes, I'm aware this thread is a complete waste of time, but i'd like to know if anyone else has been doing this.

    Tent city levelled.

I found 2 of the big trucks a couple of days ago stocked full of sniper rifles, m4a3 sd's, 5 sets of nvg's, 5 range finders, 3 m249's, 30 mags for those alone, 5 coyote backpacks, and everything else you can think of in mass quantity. nobody was there guarding them, so I drove them south and called in a buddy to move everything off of the server, onto ours. we then moved the vehicles again, hoping to use them in the future, but if not, no biggie. On a side note, my buddy put all but 2 of the nvg's into a pack with the range finders/maps/gps. All seemed fine, but the server reset a few minutes later and the backpack was empty when we checked it again. I guess you shouldn't put things in packs in tents.
  8. Just a video I put together for a new series i'm going to be doing for machinima http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1WSPUfyZzM feedback would be great. suggestions and such.
  9. tank traps and razor wire barricades are placed by server hoppers to protect their loot from being taken from players who don't use this tactic. Its a symptom of an exploit and both items should probably be removed from the mod. And for those of you that would whine about this option, do you really think the spirit of this mod is to have to jump to another server just to overcome an obstacle, return to previous server, than jump again to get back out? Please. An exploit is an exploit. This one should be easy to clean up.
  10. negative. for one, you're talking about exponentially increasing the data that needs to be stored, not only tracking individual players, but multiple iterations of that individual player as he would probably have at least 2 servers because of day night. and what if i want to play with a buddy but his character is on server x and mine is on server y? No the solution lies in finding a system that taxes exploitation without ruining the free spirit of the game. You may think being tied to one server would be a great solution, but what happens when the server goes down? What happens when the server begins to lose player count as people move on? What happens if the server itself just shuts down for good, as the owner no longer wishes to foot the bill? Being tethered to a single server just to try and stop an annoyance won't work, and flies in the face of pc gaming in general. And guess what? A guy can still dc his ass off if he's only tied to one server, so what's the difference. If i was that hard up to keep my shit and i was cornered, i'd simply dc and come back a few hours later. Yours isn't a solution. Its a knee jerk reaction.
  11. I'm sorry but global persistence is the major draw of this game and what separates it from a lot of other gaming experiences. Is the system currently easily exploitable? Yep. Is it a problem? Sure. That being said you don't just trash an idea because the end user is using it in a bastardized manner. The onus is on Rocket to try and work a solution that will at least dull the effects of the problems at hand, and I'm willing to give him all the time he needs. Your solution is far too drastic and kills the spirit of what's been built here. You could think of all kinds of contrived gameplay systems and mechanics to try to mitigate the abuse caused by the exploitation of a meta-gaming tactic, but they can have unforseen consequences and open up new avenues for abuse and griefing. I think it's so much simpler and healthier to simply close the loophole altogether. But how about a compromise: Make cross-server characters a local server option. Servers that allow a global/multi-server character are the same as the servers we have now. Servers that don't allow global characters make you start a new character without affecting your global/multi-server character. This is making sure of course that there are clear indications on the server selection screen as to which kind of server you're joining That's not going to do it for me. Splitting the community and limiting people who would play with a friend on his server but his character isn't transferable and it would severely limit player pools. It would also in reality, create two different games with two sets of rules. That isn't a solution. The solution is to keep the core of this game intact and let rocket come up with a scenario, such as the ones i suggested, which are both viable options, despite your vague protestations to the contrary. You're suggesting amputation for a small cut. As stated before, this game being in alpha, an immediate fix, especially a drastic bastardization as you suggest, isn't necessary. Players will find ways to exploit every game you can think of. Changing the entire feel of the game for a few d-bags isn't a solution. tweaking the system to deter them from such behavior is..
  12. 3 survivor's heads and a plate filled with tears. There's probably no tears just laughter at how your sounding like a right proper knob head. Knob head? Please escort yourself back to the bus stops outside of your local Asda' date=' filthy chav kid. I would put you in a Somalian Wrist Grinder and make you tap out. You're probably one of my 18 murders during those 4 hours I played, you're so mad. [/quote'] it always makes me smile how utterly oblivious to perception some forum posters are. The dichotomy that exists between what goes through a guys head when he writes a post, and how he thinks he'll be portrayed, and the one that's based in reality as other people read his literary diarrhea, roll their eyes, and write him off as a dimwitted clown.
  13. this thread is just as equally white noise as the complaint threads. yin/yang and rocket isn't particularly fond of either. we're not here to talk about our feelings.
  14. here you go buddy http://lmgtfy.com/?q=hi-res+chernarus
  15. stop demanding proper usage from gamers. anal retentive d-bag. Word to the wise. I find the game still works just fine if i want to call a bullet an angel fart.

The onus is on Rocket to try and work a solution that will at least dull the effects of the problems at hand, and I'm willing to give him all the time he needs. Your solution is far too drastic and kills the spirit of what's been built here. Some possible solutions could include increasing the time your body is physically attackable when you dc from 5 seconds to say 30 seconds. It might also be worth looking into to create "no-spawn" zones. If you dc in a certain area, say the NW airfield, it respawns you in your new server randomly on the map. This kind of uncertainty would make people think twice about taking the easy route. Of course these ideas are easy for me to say. I have no idea how difficult they would be to implement. I just know that killing persistence is a bad idea and a poorly thought out solution. The servers are too unstable and being tied to just one goes against the spirit of pc gaming in general.

This is how YOU playing this mod.

I would ask the same of you. He has just outlined a valid gripe regarding pussified gamers who would rather fight a kid in a wheelchair than someone on their level. Unfortunately' date=' the server hopping is an issue and defeats the purpose of this game to a large extent. But this is a large contingent of gamers today, not just in this mod but in every game under the sun. They don't want a challenge. They want the easy button. They don't want to travel for hours to find what they need. They want it now. They can't be bothered to risk their life when they can go for those nail biting 300 plus meter engagements against players with at most an ak on them. But in the end, its just as easy to dc on them after they prove they can't shoot anything that's not stationary in the gear menu with 10 or 12 failed shots. I prefer my pvp up close and personal, but that's just me. Cunty behavior is cunty behavior, no matter what. [hr'] I would ask the same of you. Game cannot survive!

if you're afraid of dying, you shouldn't be playing this game and shouldn't conveniently attribute every death to hackers. The fact of the matter is that in this game, you get killed at the points when you feel safest, most in danger, or just randomly. It may feel like you just got hacked but chances are you probably were in the wrong place at the wrong time.
