Day Z is soon to be dead

I've always been impressed by the ability of some to guarantee a product will be completely perfect based on a short article, short on details, and heavy on promises. I've seen a thousand games designed to "do it better" than the game its obviously cloning, and they almost always disappear into the ether, never getting off the ground, or taken seriously. The MMO world is rife with the copses of promises made. In short, don't let your frustration over one thing turn you into a gullible fool when it comes to another. The fact that they have chosen to put a big ass capital Z in the title of their game, smacks of cash in. Stick around for a while. Learn how this business works. The game might turn out all right, but your faith is unwarranted.

Question for the "Just play Left 4 Dead" crowd

preference. This is high stakes gambling. lots to lose, making it more fun.
  4. just want to get this out of the way. I should have died. The fact that I didn't is a testament to how shit they were at the game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLi_D6ATV64

Admin Abuse US35 banned for ghosting

I love human nature. group mentality, come hell or high-water. take sides, regardless of any facts actually being presented, and stick to that side. Nobody who wasn't there knows shit. but hey, don't let that stop you from picking which bowl of cheerios to piss in. I as a 3rd party observer, could give two shits about seeing proof, because A. I don't give a fuck. I'm not scouring the internet looking to be part of a soap opera, as my estrogen levels are normal for a man. B. I don't have any power to act on information presented to me as its not my fucking job. You bitches not involved should just grab some popcorn and enjoy the show.

    FN FAL or AKM?

i've got the fn-fal with the nv scope on it. the gun is sick. The only reason i'm not carrying it right now is because I've got an L85. I like the AK for cqc, but it doesn't strike me as a particularly accurate gun.

    Loss of blood

hunting tools: hatchet, matches, knife. 800 blood per cooked steak. as is with everything in this mod, the answer won't be in making it easier. The answer is in understanding how the game works, and putting the time and effort in to survive. Along with that comes the understanding that sometimes, you're going to die.
  9. In my opinion its hard to believe a post apocalyptic world full of Tom Beringers in ghuillie suits filling up their days with dreams of 1 km kills as they lie dick in the dirt watching for lopsided pvp encounters. I personally think the pvp aspect of this game is incredibly fun and can be incredibly rewarding in scenarios that are a bit more believable in a situation like this. If you made people get a bit more up close and personal in pvp encounters it would add to the tension and fun in my opinion, as well as negate much of the griefing that the new players complain about I will kill you without hesitation, but in doing so, you can at least rest assured i'm after what's on your body, not chasing the same rush a 10 year old gets from firing a spitball at the girl 3 rows over in class. Its just a thought. I don't expect it to be a popular thought and I'm not even saying it necessarily should be done. I'm just wondering if anyone else has thought of this or what you think of it. I'd lie to see people have to come to terms with how whiteknuckle they actually play this game when kitted up, maybe even shattering their false perception that they are some alpha warrior when in the end, they're just an asshole on the hill, avoiding risk. disclaimer: i'd be lying if i said i haven't done the exact thing i'm talking about here, but in the end, we're all hypocrites.

    Do's and Dont's of D/Cing

d/c'ing for zeds, what a joke. easiest fucking thing in the world to deal with. i can run through cherno without firing a single shot and come out without one zombie on me. learn to deal with zeds brah. you're doing it wrong.

    Stary Sobor : Sniper Haven

Maybe it's time to sweep perimeters before just wandering into a town. Just a thought. perimeters can be up to 1800m away. that's not realistic, doesn't account for server hoppers and you know it. its a complete nonresponse.

    DayZ Has Some Problems

your right' date=' about berezino. Still that only leaves four real locations [hr'] Stary Sobor has one low military spawn' date=' airfield has 10+. Main Cities have 3+ [/quote'] it has a ton of tents, and they're not low. you've got a higher chance for a coyote backpack in stary than you do at nw airfield. you're also forgetting the 20 plus fields that helicopter crashes spawn in. you're also forgetting the players near cherno and elektro that troll for new spawners. you can kill them and get all you ever needed. you also neglect camps up north... Stary Sober Military Loot Number of Loot Spots:2 Loot spawn chance 40% Coyote Backpack Spawn chance: 0.38% NorthWest Airfield Barracks Loot Number of Loot Spots:24 Loot spawn chance 40% Coyote Backpack Spawn chance: 0.23% Do your math son 2 per tent. at least 7 small tents and 2 big tents. there are over 18 loot spots at stary. have you even been there? Stary Sobor has one low military spawn' date=' airfield has 10+. Tents are useless- The game is too buggy and I've lost countless fortunes due to them either dissapearing or not saving loot correctly. It wasn't stolen from. Also, why would you need a Coyote pack when ALICE packs are 10x more common and hold almost as much? Either way, these two items are rarely even commodities. Crashed helicopter sites are random, and they do make people travel outside of those three places, but generally people just "loot run" it by taking everything, waiting 10 minutes, and revisiting it to get the entire spawn again, so you only really need to find one and camp it. After you do that for maybe 1-2 runs- you end up just going to cherno or electro again to kill players. The OP is right, Cherno, Electro, and the NW airfields are pretty much the most visited places by far. I don't even find myself going north to get weapons anymore- the fire stations in Electro and Cherno drop pretty good loot anyway- And I can rack up ~30-60 murders before dying. an interesting approach deciding an extra four slots allowing the versatility of another primary plus decent storage space isn't worth having. i personally will take it. I've also found a ton of good stuff in tents. sorry about your bad luck on that front. taking the approach that "its not worth it" when it clearly is doesn't really work for me. as for helicopter spawns. i don't give a shit how "random" they are. he was saying there's nothing to do. regardless of your hipster attitude towards it all these are all viable quests. But no one actively pursues deer stands-- Not when a fire station or the NW airfield can almost consistently produce better results. Crashed Helicopters are pretty common' date=' and you pretty much max out your character after one visit-- A bison and 6 mags (2 bizons, actually) and I went down into cherno and had a killing spree. Other than crashed helicopters, there is no reason to go to anywhere but these 3 or 4 places (If you count berezino, which is just another big city with less people.) Also, vehicles and tents are too inconsistent to safely store loot and items- It is better to just make a trip to a common helicopter crash site or the NW airfield than run up to a secluded tent and then back down. Most people don't "just survive"- Its just too easy and boring. [/quote'] if you had any balls, you would have had your killing spree up north where the kitted players are. you're the cause for your lack of excitement. i don't really waste my time hunting people that can't give me better gear.

  14. you raise a good point.
  15. I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels a further explanation is owed on this one.
  16. that could work. civilian hunting rifle. a bit less silly than anti-material 50 cals. I like men. that works pretty good. thanks.
  17. for all intents and purposes, they aren't a factor now. but i suppose its to be expected to get a knee-jerk response, full of yesterday's bag of sarcasm. thinking is hard...oh darn. now i'm being sarcastic.

Walking dead FPS. Dayz rip off?

i find the mentality that same genre games are copying off of others that came before. here's a little newsflash. that's how games have evolved from Pong to what we have today. Besides, if you actually read the article, you'll see there isn't much in common between the games.
