Look at the map and ask yourself: If I owned a vehicle, where would I hide it so others can't take it? Then go there. I found a stash of no less than 6 vehicles hidden in the forest this way :). Also boats are generally in the water.

I play at day because I have to make a choice. I wish I could do both (faster time), but alas. -
I wonder how difficult this would be. Arma is crazy sometimes..like it's pretty easy to mod in parachuting cows and all kinds of nonsense, but on the other hand putting in door sounds might be a pain. Been awhile since I messed with objects, but pretty sure would have to find the class object files for each building and then modify to code to link to a sound for every door. After this you might also have to swap the buildings on the map with the new one and export a new map.

I have the same problem. Cannot access side/global and see others using them. I wonder if it's the Arma Beta patch that's doing it. -
I love the idea of a few people having something awesome as opposed to most games where everyone gets the same stuff and no one is really powerful.

If you are going to do this, you should probably go all the way the first time. As in starting with nothing not even a backpack. Reasoning would be this would test more gameplay at once and it's also easier on the public to add things back in later than to remove more. -

I use road flares all the time to distract zombies. They move toward them slowly but it works really well. Throw a couple outside of a town and then walk around and loot. -
So last night the server I was on turned to night so I logged out and back in to the same server to reset the time. When I came back in there was an hourglass on my screen that moved terribly slow. Was probably 5 minutes before it filled up. Is this a bug or a new way to prevent log out abuse? The servers I play on usually restart right before sundown when I play so I have to relog every hour or so to keep my time in the daylight. If this is a new feature I sure hope they fix the JIP time sync bug.

I think the only way this would really be great is if we spawned with nothing at all. No pack, no beans, no bandages. This would make every upgrade that much more rewarding and a more interesting stories to tell how you managed to make your way up the ladder from nothing. -

Ahh. I think I might have had a hopper following me the last few miles. That might explain it. Timer is pretty boring though. Hopefully come up with a solution less annoying someday. -

I love this idea. I think fishing should give you better stuff than regular food though, to make it worth your time. Perhaps fish work as a morphine, food, and pain killers all in one or something. Also fish should take awhile to catch. It would be nice to have a minigame for it, but at the least make your guy sit at the lake for awhile with his pole in the water. Would just be cool to come upon people hanging out fishing. Another awesome thing would be able to fish off the side of boats. There are boats in the game that are too slow to be practical for traveling. Allowing them to catch better fish would increase their usefulness. Seeing a bunch of guys out in fishing would be great. Also it would be nice to keep track of fish sizes and types you have caught. This could be another incentive for people to fish opposed to scavenging. Could see who catches the best one. I love it!

I believe it could definitively make money as a stand alone game if it came out today. I believe it would make more money as a stand alone game if support for this mod was continued first and after the release. If not the Arma series itself would loose a lot of customers seeing how many people bought into the game just for this mod. I know I wouldn't bother buying a standalone considering how perfect it is for Arma and how easy to mod in. I'd just mod something myself or play one of the other great Arma mods. I also won't be purchasing Arma III just for DayZ if Arma II support stops. Yes you could argue whatever side of fairness and what they were really buying but in the end it's up to Bohemia to decide what they want to give their customers. A restaurant might not be required by law to refill your drinks, but you are a lot happier when they do. -
If you have parts on you, you will then see options to apply the parts. They show up red when broken. Also if you get inside there will be indicator lights that show red or green for broken parts, although I'm not completely sure this is working right :).

Unfortunately forums are really never the place to find positive information about a game. Most players that are happy and having a good time with it don't have any reason to post.

Simple solution to disconnect exploit

Here is how Eve Online does it: In Eve your ship has the capability to warp. It takes a bit for the ship to align so you have some time to take damage and possibly get destroyed, but if you are able to warp away then you can be safe from the battle. Other ships have warp jammers that can stop your ship from being able to warp away. Not all players use this. You can sometimes do enough damage to a ship before they warp away without having to jam them in place. When you log out the game initiates your ship into warp to a random far away location. When you log back in it warps back to your last known location. This happens no matter if you are in a battle or not. Since warping away is already an option it doesn't benefit you to log out. If you are warp jammed and log out then you are in the same situation, except your ship won't be firing back. Eve Online does have major penalties for dying. You could have a ship that took you months to get destroyed in a second. You also have a chance of loosing skill points on your character. -

Putting labels like "bandit" or "survivor" leaves no room for grey areas in character play. If you are dying for food and kill someone to get it, or are scared someone might shoot you and kill them, you are now a bandit. What if later you decide to make some friends. Not all people you encounter are the same, so you shouldn't have rules determine how you interact with each player as if they were just a number. -
Time of day inconsistent between players

The server currently only sends the same time to all JIP clients. So if the server was started at 6:30 then everyone who joins is at 6:30 and move along on their own from there. If you start a server at sunset and it becomes dark, just rejoin and it will be sunset again. It's supposed to send the current server time to JIP clients, but it doesn't. It still could be fixed with normal mission scripting though. Manually set the JIP clients to the correct time when they join. -
