so i have been playing the standalone for awhile and have decided that the mod would be more fun with cars and stuff. I remember watching youtube videos of the mod awhile ago and in the server you could build full houses and there was actual Door locks with codes and there was even a market where you could trade and what not. I'm just wondering if anyone could tell me what these servers are called. thanks for the help. =) Im installing the game right now. Is the mod still the only thing I need to play besides arma 2 combined operation?
-
so when i first got this game i could join any server but died from not being able to hit a zombie with a mallet =( im tried to play again yesterday but battle eye is saying i have a moded data file. i have tried re installing 3 times and verified game cache twice. can someone help please
-
yea xD i got so pissed though lol

so here is my story guys. i have been slowly build a computer since january. I'm finally about to be done. i took me so long mostly because im 15 and a freshman in highschool (9th grade) and sometimes id help my dad on the weekend and do chores. so im getting a summer job and will be able to afford alot of stuff. so here is my question.
what fps am i looking at with this setup?
3570k OCed to 4.5
ocz vertex 80gb sd (2 in raid 0)
750gb seagate barracuda
(2x 4gb) 8gb of g.skill ripjaws 1600 (will upgrade to full 16) when i get my summer job.
i plan on picking up 2 GTX 780's superclocked to sli.
i know i will be able to max but i was wondering if you could tell me three things.
1.what frames will i be looking at?
2.will i be able to max everything? (like the highest AA and details set to ultra for every-single thing?...i have never played dayz so i dont know what the graphic settings go up to)
3. is there like a facebook page where i can keep up with dayz news for the mod and standalone?
getting so happy because i have been playing stuck being able to play about 4 games on my sony vaio.
sorry almost forgot. i will have windows 8 installed on the ssd raid 0 setup along with dayz/arma ii and maybe battlefield 4/3 and a couple other small game that i play alot. i remember someone saying on here along time ago that he got a major improvement in frames form a ssd because it would load textures faster and so on...

*The drivers
I would rather aim to get a 690, as it has the performance of 2 680's but less issues with microstuddering etc (even though it's not needed at all for ONE Full HD Monitor). Also, you can't change the view distance in DayZ as it's fixed server-side. And depending on the server you might still get less than 50 frames, just sayin.
i would get a 690 but they still go for around 850-900 even on ebay. plus, i might be able to get them cheaper when the 700 series comes out.

Most people do. It eats a lot of FPS and hinders you more than it adds to the game. It looks nice if you're taking screenshots or something but other than that it's not really worthwhile.
yea. well thanks for the help! can't wait to play.
-
It's a setting called 'post-process effects' it's more or less ambient occlusion, motion blur and a DoF blur effect rolled into one. It blurs everything in the distance and actually makes it harder to spot players, it's good practice to disable it anyway.
Off the top of my head I think the AA settings are: disabled, low, normal, high, very high, 5, 6, 7, 8. I would have thought you'd be able to run on at least 'very high'.
I'd rather skip the blur =]
-
You won't get it to use the SLi properly, ARMA 2 just isn't optimised for it.
That being said it should still run more or less max settings. I'd max everything with the exception of post-process effects and if you aren't happy with your FPS drop AA down a couple of notches. Really, it should hold 50-60 FPS in Cherno on those settings though.
What are post-process effects? I want aa at least on 2

so I'm building a gaming rig and om probably going to get a 680 sli setup if the 700 series is to expensive.(hopefully there is a 600 series price drop too =) but im wondering what settings i should put dayz on. this is my first gaming rig so i have never played any games where i had to choose like msaa and stuff like that. my monitor is an asus vs24h-p. i want to get the best picture possible with no lower than 50 frames and high view distance so i can see everything.
this is my rig.
mobo: asus p8z77-v
intel i7 -3770k at around 4.5ghz
680 sli setup
8gb g.skill ripjaws 1600
750gb seagate barracuda
2 ocz vertex 2 80gb ssd's in raid 0. <<< this will hold windows arma 2/dayz and maybe some other games.
so accounting for dayz being installed on a ssd raid 0 setup what should i put my settings at?
oh and i know i dont need and i7 for gaming but im starting a youtube channel and me and some friends are going to be making a game over summer. thanks!

http://pcpartpicker....-bx80623i52500k - $214. for the 2500k
http://pcpartpicker....-bx80637i53570k - $189. at micro center for the 3570k
i wished i lived near a micro center. i would live there.
-
I've got my 2500k at 4.4GHZ and it's all good but why didnt you just get an i5 3570k with a matching z77 motherboard?
I don't think it'll work because the z77 is made for the ivy bridges...
i haven't purchased the 2500k but it looks like il just get the 3570k. and what i was asking was iven if the 2500k doesn't support usb 3.0 would they at least run at 2.0
-
There is quite a difference between the i5 2500k and the i5 3570k, less power consumption and heats I believe and actually better performance.
And seriously I dont know what your trying to say for your question :(
sorry let me try to phrase it better. if i have a usb 3.0 header on the front of my case and my mobo (asrock z77 extreme 3) are connected. using a 2500k will the header work?
what other differences are there between them? everywhere i look it's just people saying pcie 3 and usb 3.0 and heat problems and the 3570k is a little faster.
if i get the 2500k il probably overclock it to 4.5 and the 3570k would be at 4.3
-
so out of the 3570k and the 2500k i chose the 2500k since the only difference is pcie 3 and native usb 3.0
from my understanding alot of devices can't even use usb 3.0. correct?
i will be getting a gtx 680.
so my main 2 questions is this:
1. i don't really know what native usb 3.0 means so please help but if i have a usb 3.0 header on the front of my case and my motherboard has a hook up for it. will it work with the 2500k?
sorry i don't really know how to explain my question,
-
The margin between a 3570K and 2500K aren't that extreme, but a z77 board only takes advantage of Ivy Bridge capabilities. You are better off with a Z68 or a P67 for a 2500K. If you are really concerned about the fifty dollars, then there's nothing wrong with just going with a 2500K, as it will work in the board. It just won't take advantage of native usb 3.0 and PCI 3.0.
so the 2500k can't use usb 3.0? even if it's on the actual case?

so im building a new rig right now and im trying to decide what processor to get.
il be playing tons of dayz/arma ii when i get my gtx 680 and some bf3 with some other games.
i don't do a lot of video converting. maybe 3 videos a month sometimes 4. it will be a pure gaming computer.
so from a gaming stand point what processor should i get. a 2500k or 3570k.
ill also be running two ssd's in raid 0 and a 750gb hdd.
4gbx2 of g.skill ripjaws 1600 ram
an asrock z77 extreme 3(got it as a gift)
and a gtx 680.
i can get the 2500k for $50 less and since the heat problems arn't like the 3570k i can overclock more. il be using a coolermaster 212 evo.
-
ok thanks. i think im going to go with a ocz vertex 2 120gb
-
so im building a rig right now and i see all these ssd's on ebay that are sata II. are they still faster than a regular HDD? or should i go for a sata III
-
so im building a pc and the case im getting only comes with a front fan(5 extra fan mounts not counting the front)
so i bought a pack of 4 coolermaster 120mm fans they all have a 3-pin power connector.
my problem is that i dont know if il be able to use them all.
so my setup is
i5-3570k-processor
cooler master elite 430-case
asrock z77 extreme 3-motherboard
is their anyway i can use all of them
i haven't decided on a power supply yet so any suggestions would be great.
-
do you think it would be good for games or should i get a newer one?
-
i just pulled a old hard drive from a friends pc. im wondering if its good or not.
its a western digital
WD7500AAKS
is it a caviar black?
is it a good hard drive for games?
which SATA is it 1,2,3?
-
i am building a computer tight now and im trying to decide on storage
im tihnking of getting a 1tb black HDD and maybe a ssd around 50GB
can i install windows 8 on the ssd and then the games im going to play the most and then switch my install directory over to my HDD?
-
I overclocked my i5 2500k from the default value to 4,2Ghz. I did not touch the voltages at all. My processor cooler is Scythe Mugen 3, and my processor is running <30c idle and 50-60c while playing.
I got no problems at all. So there is something wrong with your processor probably.
i just gotta say i love your avatar
help me find a server?
