Why make instanced or underground bases?

I like the idea of a few things mentioned here but having forts and shit out in the middle of the woods sounds a lot like wasteland to me. I'de rather see something like lockable doors on existing structures, or have ways to hide weapons under floorboards/in walls/under couch cushions or whatever, you are a person surviving an apocolypse, not a construction foreman lol. -
i'de like to see zeds eat eachother every once in a while, would add a little bit more realism than having them only attack a person, i mean, they can hear eachothers footsteps, why not aggro eachother once in a while.

Base building is for wasteland... maybe tents, lean-to's, camo-netting for vehicles, but not bases... I personally think thats taking it a little over the top.

ok so the backpacks have weapon slots, supposedly, from what im seeing im just seeing the weapons take up the normal inventory slots still versus the weapon slots. Am I missing something?

no, if it takes up a weapon slot its separate from inventory space. like vehicles.

yea all they did was adjust the size of the bags, doesnt look like the weapon slots are working yet

I agree with this, if you Just observe player movement from a distance that will sometimes tell you if they intend to kill, like watching someone run to sniper hill with a DMR, or camp on top of the apartments in berezino or cherno, theres lots of ways other then skin or appearance that you can tell. -
I kind of agree, if you all start with absolutely nothing then spawning as a group shouldn't really be an issue. and like he said, you should be able to spawn on your friend sitting at the south barracks because a DMR spawned or something. but if everyone is starting fresh, it shouldn't be an issue. I think it makes group play better, right now if you join a server by yourself, and you dont know anyone, from most of the servers i've seen people kill on sight, I try to communicate but if someone is moving directly at me and is armed, ill just kill em, better them then me, it promotes group play more then it does it right now ill say that much.

i like the idea, but i think it will give people more reasons to camp cherno/elektro, can only imagine 15 people in elektro all having seizures and break dancing on the ground because theres a douchebag in the hills shooting to "maim", i'de rather they just kill me and let me respawn then troll me and watch me die.

it is important, we're not just talking about gaming here, we're talking about everything else, if you want to just run a game and thats it, go for it, get a cpu with 512k of cache for all i care, im not just talking about that, im talking about multi-tasking and being able to do more then 1 thing at a time on a computer. you can get a budget CPU with a good cache on it, you don't have to buy a sempron just because its 20 bucks.

processor cache size is important, if you have a 3GHZ CPU with 1MB of cache, is will underperform compared to a 3GHZ CPU with an 8MB Cache, is is important with Dayz because the ARMA II engine is very CPU and HD dependant. Thats why there are RAMDISK tutorials all over the place to boost FPS. just try to get at least a 3 Ghz processor with at least a 4-8 mb cache and you should be good to go. Here are my specs, I play around 30-40 FPS average between low and high pop servers. 3.6 Ghz Quad Core Athlon IIx4 641 LLano(overclocked from 2.8) http://www.newegg.co...N82E16819113133 8 GB DDR3 RAM at 1866 (overclocked from 1600) http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820220558 GTX 550 Ti (factory overclock) http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814130717 I play DayZ off of a RAMDisk and get about a 25% boost in performance. I have noticed that if you can get above the 3ghz mark with CPU's on DayZ the gameplay will be much smoother, if you want something on the cheap try to get a 2.5 or higher CPU and push it above the 3Ghz mark using the BIOS overclock that comes with most motherboards nowadays. I only spent around $300 american on my current tower. im not sure about allocation of cores for the ARMA II game engine, but a dual core would be fine for gaming, but if you want more multi-tasking try to go for 4 cores.

In my opinion completely randomizing spawn location and clothing that you are wearing would be a great idea. Would definitely mix it up a bit, instead of, oh i spawned at kamenka, meet you at stary and then we can go to the NWAF... which is pretty much the loot path that everyone follows. with more enterable buildings the loot amount is going to increase globally and I hope that there isnt as much emphasis on Stary Sobor or the NWAF as there is now, I'de like to see more even loot throughout the map, like military checkpoints that have dead bodies with guns lying around or something. Even out the map so it isnt just one path that you can take, you could go anywhere. at the same time, I dont want to have AS50's and DMR's lying all over the place either, we need to find a healthy balance in the drops so rare weapons are still rare even though the amount of buildings and loot spots have increased. -
