At the end of the day, the game simply needs more objectives. As it stands now there is no reward for surviving, but it's remarkably easy to build an arsenal, so yeah of course people are going to get bored and start hunting human prey; it's arguably the most thrilling thing to do at the moment. Some of your suggestions are sound. I agree that zombies should be harder and supplies should be more scarce, and I agree that more things should require teamwork, but I would be wary of alienating people who like to play the lone wolf. I think the most important thing is to reward people for staying alive over extended periods of time. Less people are going to want to hang out in high-risk zones killing other players if there's a greater reward for simply staying alive. The goal should not be to eliminate PvP entirely. That would suck the fun out of the game because there is literally nothing else I can play at the moment where judging the trustworthiness other players is so important to the game; that's a big part of what attracts me to it. But I definitely agree that something needs to be done to tone it back just a little bit. -
Day Z has an element of risk assessment that most games lack, and that's what draws a lot of people to it. Trusting other survivors is a huge part of this style of play, so introducing any system that distinctly labels bandits would detract from it. What would be more appropriate is a system by which players can identify a body, examine wounds, and make the judgment call themselves (I think they're working on this right now actually, because the function for inspecting a body actually exists, it just doesn't give any relevant information as it is now). As for the journal, it's a cool idea but I tentatively agree that it should be left up to the player what to write in it. I don't know how important it is to have an actual in-game system for bragging rights over player kills, but it would need to be kept to a minimum or everyone would just indiscriminately kill everybody.

My framerate was incredibly low with 1.6.0, maybe around 5 fps. The 1.6.0.1 hotfix improved it, but it's still unplayable. I was getting about 20 fps at first, then plummeted to about 5 again once zombies started chasing (which got me killed, and I'm still a little pissed about it!). This was sunny weather, indoors, in Gvosdno, on one of the Virginia servers. In the past the hotfix would clear this issue right up, game would run very smoothly at 30+fps in all weather conditions with lots of zombies, but that doesn't seem to be the case this time. Computer specs: AMD Phenom II X2 555 Processor 3.20 GHz 4 GB RAM Vista 64bit Radeon HD 6750 1GB DDR3
