+1 on longer hide body& shovel required, question is what hundreds of bodies in the open will do to servers though but you should not be able to loot your own body (if you try to loot your own body it hides as is now or something)

Night time should be toned down

There is an issue with the engine though, the textures don't reflect light (eg, you are in a room, with flashlight on, but can't see anything which is not in the beam of light) if they could fix that and introduce moon cycle it would be OK PS: they could also introduce being blinded by a flashlight? -

yup, the animations are great, but the second video really shows how the 3rd person view screws up things from realistic perspective - so blind firing better not be in SA if the 3rd person view remains as is -
Ideas for Hunting/New Equipment for Standalone

On the picture you've got a deadfall trap, snare (as also is in the description) looks like this http://huntergathercook.typepad.com/.shared/image.html?/photos/uncategorized/2008/04/16/14_ground_snare_335_2.jpg Just remove the "humane" part from the text and you'll be good As a side note, traps in IRL take a good time to actually catch something, they're checked every 12hours or more, how would you implement the waiting time, i cant imagine peps to wait and chech the traps continuously... -
Yes, especially if you forget the step between 5 and 6 - prime the weapon. It's not about practicality though, it is about fun. Imagine how many zombies you could gather with just one shot, Lee Enfied ain't got nothing on the musket.

Awesome! My Czech is very rusty, not much info there really, here is the part that could be interesting to you guys - the greedy ones who want them to go back to work ASAP ;): Martin: they were making normal pics ("just pictures"), When asked about when he'll go back to work he said in a week, in a month, doesn't know yet, he'll go home to relax... Ivan: He'll go to Morava to his Wife and child (no info when he's going back to work). and they're very happy to be home and glad the ordeal is over with

@ m00tley - from your posts it seems you are mainly concerned with the 15minutes it takes to get back to your body, but there are a lot better solutions for that (eg, if you try to loot your own body, body disappears (hide) ) as per skills, although I understand why you would have them introduced, its simply not dayz, (do what you want when you want if only you can find the gear) - and it will also give some additional extra advantage to clans and groups
-
uff, that would be - masochistic, but cool; in combination with various scopes every gun would be a b*** to setup and if anyone took it from you he'd have to figure it out completely anew Not sure how they would implement it though, don't think these settings are in the game
-
funny/interesting idea, also a 6 shooter revolver would do, colt navy perhaps? you could theoretically make your own ammo (making gunpowder is a bit extreme i guess) stopping power - one shot with musket is a kill accurate range (non-rifled) 50m is the limit
-
you have range cards, like this: http://www.scribd.com/doc/97022548/Arm-a-2-Weapon-Ranging-and-Correction-Guide and other rifles like as50, m24, have zeroing (basically the same as adjusting range on the scope turret) The only thing that needs to be changed for the worse IMO is weapon stability, it's ok for trained soldiers (ARMA) to sprint, stop, aim at 500 meters in 2 seconds, but a random malnourished survivor would not be able to stabilize the weapon like chuck norris, nor keep it dead steady at 1500 meters without bippod+monopod/stand...
-
I can already imagine it - spawn on the coast, find hatchet, cut wood for 5 hours to max out wood chopping, killed by bandit, do it again? kinda lame really; no no no no @dallas - pls stop writing good posts, I'm outta beans!
-
One would logically assume so, but even in theory and in practice it is incorrect: Any half-capable attorney would argue espionage is a political crime etc etc etc and than there is this: http://conventions.c...es/Html/024.htm European Convention on Extradition Article 6, paragraph 1. a: and finally, Czech constitution is above everything article 14 (4): So once home, no more Greece, but than again, they gave up on this case anyways, 5000 € bail and allowed to go back to their country, they'll probably get a 5000 € penalty in the end...

As soon as they get back to CZ they are free, they don't have to go back; Greece is no US Now shhh, we'll jinx it

nice vid, but if they implement this (well, its not TOH), then they better implement keys / hotwiring a car, gear changes, manual loading of weapons etc; even realism has limits -

This will be fixed if duping is fixed. I do believe the NV goggles are rare, I've played the game for 3 months and never ever ever ever ever saw NV spawn in normal military locations; I did find them on other players, tents, some vehicles... I do hope that nights will be a bit lighter though / not pitch black as now... -

but he still gets to loot his own body... -
Great news, congrats. Hope it won't take them too long to recover. Nope. Well, don't want to jinx this, let's just say that as soon as they're back to CZ they are as good as free (espionage=political crime, no extradition...)
-
Well, being from Eastern Europe I can tell you that they are all over the place, not ww2 era, but 60-70ies era - basically go to a large forest, walk for 10 kilometers, and you will find some sort of a military bunker or similar... always thought there was something missing in Chernarus... not something big though, just couple of rooms, like a larger house or something, but very well hidden.

wonder where there is a building tall enough with the hotel gone; but it should replace your backpack... -
in post-apocalyptic world there are no Innocents and it is sooooo much easier to justify killing (the first guy had beans and I was hungry, the second guy had a gun and I needed it to defend myself, the third guy had matches and I would freeze without fire, the fourth had a knife which I needed, the fifth had the rifle I needed to hunt, the sixth was coming directly at me from the beach and if didn't kill him with the sniper rifle I would have had to use a gun and he could have killed me, the seventh... If I hadn't had killed them I would be dead myself and wouldn't be able to eat these nice beans by the fire this evening...) If you are a normal person you will feel regret in real life (which is the best part of this game) so we don't need some game mechanic to tell us something is bad, especially because it will never be accurate
-
People in general are social beings and if one is alone (literally not meeting someone for days) they go nuts, that is why the solitary confinement is such a harsh punishment in prisons. The problem, if you can call it that, is that after playing the game for some hours, we all go back to our normal lives, so we will never behave in game as we would if such a disaster really happened, simply because we socialize outside of the game and socializing is not really important. If the game mechanic would somehow be able to represent this normal human craving for human company it would be great (eg you have to keep in human company for at least 1h -20m distance to another live person- for every 12h of gameplay or go nuts) but I don't see how it can be justly implemented; and there will be those who would disagree that they can go on for months without human interactions and that it is unreal... It would be interesting though, you have to keep company, do you befriend a stranger, do you kidnap a stranger? Than again, it is still a game (which we play for fun!)

atm military ammo is way too common (especially the 12,7) due to duping; cut that down and there will be way less sniping in cherno; and you can hit stationary targets at 800m with DMR once you figure out the bullet drop, does very little damage though (3k blood or thereabout) - so no biggy really. If anything it is too accurate compared to real thing, should have bigger spread (M-21 (DMR) has 1.5-2 MOA accuracy, which at 800 yards is 12-16in) -
[X-posting from Reddit]How to fix the Bandit, Hero, and end game content in DayZ with 3 changes.
slivniku@gmail.com replied to danlegend's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
We'll have to wait how (if) this is implemented in the SA As the SA will have slots for hats and glasses and clothes etc I'm not really sure how the current system would be implemented - do bandits get a free balaclava that they can than throw away? or how you would visually recognize a bandit/hero when clothes can be changed... + this:
