LOL sorry mate, I agree, broken leg in dayz is an issue that should be solved, but that statement above just made me laugh

Urgent issue: Server-Hopping on SA. Let´s say NO! And make it a thing of the past.

Can you provide a link to that? I never saw it confirmed before. -
how to handle property - the issue when being offline
[email protected] replied to joe_mcentire's topic in Suggestions
Huh, this is some long thread, took me a whiiiile to read it through, my 2 cents on the subjects IMO you are looking at bases from the wrong perspective (especially this "ownership" term). The main question is, why will we build bases? If one builds a base to stash stuff there, it is only right others can loot the base, as you are in a way denying them loot while you don't really need it, fore if you did, it would be on your character The base itself is brick/mortar/soil, underground or on-ground doesn't really matter. So IMO if you build a base, and if someone raids it while you aren't there, the base itself will remain. It may be damaged a little as the raiders had to gain access somehow, your loot will be gone, but most of the work remains, you simply repair the damage and go on with building. (this is based on an assumption that if it takes a player x minutes to dig a ditch, it will take another player same x minutes to fill that ditch; who would really bother to do that while raiding?) And if you are lucky enough to catch the perpetrators in the act, you will have a jolly fun time flushing them out. -
Maybe just introduce filtering based on bean counts; BUT only OP bean count! Would be kind of useless to count all the beans on a "shitty idea" response...

Of all the four points you made IMO only ghosting is relevant - and that can be solved without private hives. Eg: no spawning in buildings (if you disconnect in a building you will spawn 200 meters away in any direction) if you connect multiple times in given time frame you again spawn in a circle in the radius of 200 meters. I'm sure there are even better options... as others have already mentioned, it sucks to be on an empty server; it sucks even more if your server is offline or full when you try to connect... edit: I suck at writing -
with lack of other sounds the coughing is unmistakable, and also quite constant... The way I see smoking in dayz it is not as much about having pros and cons, more about character appearance/image that said, if my char found anything smokable he'd look like a chimney ;)
-
? mild coughing occasionally maybe, everything else is overkill, you really should start smoking to observe and appropriately measure all the effects ;)
-
who would want to shorten anything but the double barreled shotty? you loose ammo capacity that way... and any usefulness except for extremely close range - Used with one-hand - huh, would like to see that IRL could use the pistol slot though edit: another one, this one is def 12g

HUNGER-SYSTEM: Add calories to food, and bodyfat % [EASY TO CODE]

no link, I think I read it in a topic about regaining health or something like that - the vomiting and discomfort addition is great -
vodka, becherovka, any kind of alcohol would do, even if it is only all negative effects
-
talk about a dumb argument you don't want to mess with the seals!

Instead of skill system, implement handbooks
[email protected] replied to vaevictis's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
This would than be less of a handbook/manual and more like having an instructor by side. good for players/learning and google problem, on the other hand bad for immersion. Initially I thought it would be something like this with numbers showing steps... -
What have you been smoking?
-
If we will be able to write notes in the game I can imagine some b****** drooping a note with a random number in a drawer next to the safe Imagine every other player finding the note trying to desperately open the safe with that number and wondering "why doesn't it work?" :D

HUNGER-SYSTEM: Add calories to food, and bodyfat % [EASY TO CODE]

Currently (well, the last time I played) I would eat all the food I would find, mainly cans that aren't exactly healthy... So If my character ate 10 cans of food every day (and they are some large cans), I think in 10 days it would show ;) On that subject, and I know it was suggested before, I'm just emphasizing, the player should not be able to eat 5 cans in a row... -

That will always be a problem, with almost everything, the trick is not to use google, for your benifit I played the mod for two weeks until I started using google for help and have to admit the game without google was much better, so for SA I swore to myself I would ignore google (will see how log that will work..) IMO its an immersion thing - if you try to avoid google, finding a manual would be quite interesting (botching up heli start-up only to find in a manual that you missed one switch...) -
care to explain?

You mean the dayz SA admins are testing? These safes shoul definetly be rare, maybe even disguised And i didn't think you could just open one with a crowbar on the first try, say 15% chance of opening with crowba? maybe it would require two people with crowbars to open the safe Contents should be higher grade, but still civilian type, the biggest reward would be a lot of ammo and mags
-
dunno, having two commands/buttons for reload, accidental pressing the wrong one in the heat of battle, loosing the extremely valuable mag for the gun - could be interesting I guess (although I would simply remap the quick/drop reload to nothing as soon as I'd install the game...)
-
if we expend o the idea, anything of value (be it guns, ammo, watches,...) would probably be hidden or locked away - not lying on the table/couch
-
well, with enough time and effort it could be done (they are not like bank vaults) and after all it is a game.. maybe there should be different kinds of safes
-
this is the most important part - but as was explained before the problems is with textures that don't reflect light but instead let it through...

No, offline you don't need no food; maybe have a preset counter, if you log off for more than 1hours (so you stop playing) you burn one time 300 calories, just so you need to eat before you go to "sleep" I agree a more complex system is needed, but your ide needs some extras: This would basically mean you don't have to eat for a day or two; human body unfortunatley doesn't qork like a resrvoir, it is a bit more complex; I wouldn't like counting calories either, but it would be great to see the characther grow thin/fat based on how much you eat + diseases etc... -
I doubt it is really that hard to implement (as everything is already in there its a simple change from 1-3/20 clicks, depending on the distance) would be good if it would be close to real ammo drop tables as well... @Gews I think that is what he's suggesting...

Do not allow the loot map to be published in SA
[email protected] replied to Heathcz's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
If you want great experience simply don'tlook for loot maps (they will exist tho)
