  1. Well, arma3 works for me, and according to steam I've racked 70+ hours on it already, so it was definetly worth the 25€ for me. I will also spend the +\- 25€ on dayz SA alpha when it comes out, not for the time I will spend on it, but as a reward to the mod i spent hundreds of hours playing for free in the last year. The time i will spend playing it in the future is just a bonus IMO. It seems to me you want certainty of a good game at a low price, you will not get it; you buy alpha cheap and hope it will be good, or wait untill you are sure it is good and pay full price, whats wrong with that? I don't know what your financial situation is, but to get 70 hours of fun out of 25€ is a good deal for me... Not to mention the good times ahead with beta, full game, and all the awsome mods that will surface eventually; all that for the price of one steak. The only better deal you can get is in Thailand ;)
  2. This - is exactly how it shoul be. You like it, you buy it; you don't like it, don't buy it... You have a point there, many companies would do that (sergei), but I for one hope and think BIS is not like that. In case they are like you describe them, I hope you will continue your rambling about SA, that way i can buy it early as alpha, and your rambling will make BIS develop it to beta & full version faster...
  3. In european servers it wouldn't matter much, so many languages ;) Nice surprise, this devblog
  4. Nah, catchpa would be enough ;) Thanx for the update, nice to knoe mice are not just playing while the cat is away...
  5. This thread is turnin into...bit**** about just about everythin' The smartest thing to do is to play arma3 and just peak in here ocasionally...
  6. would the clothes be wearable by player? not sure if the clothes will decay visually, if not it would kind of ruin zeds... nice general idea though
  7. Maybe, just maybe, BIS is just being practical atm; they've released the arma3, and a lot of us are playing it, so if they released SA it could hurt arma3sales; at the same time that gives em time to polish and improve the SA as well...
  8. Although that goes for most companies, I think BI is somewhat different - not that they don't like money but it doesn't seem to be their priority -None of their games is for crowds=money, like or hate thing, if they would be about money they would go the CoD way a long time ago -they made so much $$$ from dayz already that they can afford to delay dayz SA and than there is this recent commebnt by Rocket on Reddit, doesn't look like "all about the money" to me... It is wishful thinking on my Part, I know, but I honestly believe BI is not all about the money.
  9. just to add, after your character has managed and survived all that, you will think twice, nay, five times before engaging someone...
  10. Who'd spend a 50 cal bullet on a zombie ('s arm) :o ? PS: in most cases the arm would still be attached to the body IMO; I still like the idea though
  11. I suggest you make a suggestion in the suggestion thread ;)
  12. make destroying a base just as hard (time consuming) as building them, nobody will bother destroying them... maybe instead of a timer where a base would disappear if nobody would be in it for a certain period of time (to avoid cluttering the servers), the bases could deteriorate over time? It would be hard to implement appearance vise, but would make sense from realism perspective
  13. Not rally realistic, but would look cooool
  14. There could be helmet adons as well: WW1 type and modern equivalent
  15. good idea will have to roughly count rounds just like IRL - when unsure, reload...
  16. I didn't say I want it now, I just meant that they should not wait forever until everything is polished (IE, when it is playable, present it, don't wait until you implement this, implement that, etc)
  17. As long as you don't wait forever (there is a sayin' in the mil, a good game now is better than a grate game later ;) or something like that
  18. Wow, and there I was thinking rocket & matt were just "testing" Arma3 for this past week  edit: my F5 button just started making funny sounds, any solutions? anybody?
  19. are you using fixed drift (say 0.15 degrees over all distances) or curved (increases over distance, as in Hestaine's tables)? If you can get your hands on bulletflight for Iphone, that is the best solution for you (in case of curved flight) for fixed drift let me know at which distance you need info Good addition, btw, just a little nag: arma grass and trees are swaying back and forth while IRL they would simply lean in one direction, or at least lean in one direction and than sway slightly, could a better wind indication be added/used?
  20. contradiction? (I know, it is meant figuratively, just teasing) I'm personally opposed because it goes against the general idea that if you can do something IRL you can do it in game; Kudos for a fresh idea though.
  21. Not sure if this was suggested before (couldn't find any topic); Most responsible firearm owners keep their guns safely locked away, so it would be logical to find (RANDOM and RARE) in rural areas a gun safe in a building which would contain multiple different civilian weapons and corresponding ammo. So if we find one - jackpot. However, gun safe as such, would be really hard to open, would require a crowbar an a lot of effort, maybe explosives, finding a code on a piece of paper somewere in town (or on a zombie) etc. would have to be really rare (1-3 on server restart) and hard to open as hell Not sure how hard it would be to implement to the game though opinions?
  22. aha, so if I understand this correctly, ownership would be implemented so bases that are not in use for X amount of time would be destroyed/gone - so they wouldn't overburden the servers? well, if they are underground and instanced, that shouldn't be an issue; if they would be on ground, than "occupancy" timer IMO would do it - if nobody is in a base form more than 124 hours - gone... I guess we will be able to comment/suggest better once rocket gives a more detailed description of his idea...

    Illegal drugs

This topic should be merged with smoking, alcohol, and possibly the topic "give us things we don't need". It's all about having fun, and finding stuff that has no real purpose than to have some fun with it. If you find drugs when you just started with a new character, IMO many people would try them, just to see what happens. than you might die very quickly, or, if you are very (un)lucky, you might find some sweet gear/company, than you'd have to actively search for drugs to keep going.. IMO it's all about finding new ways to spend in game, could be hilarious as hell
  24. It would seem that items will be spawned in cabinets and such, not sure if these cabinets will be closed so we would have to open doors to loot them; if yes, than locked cabinets and safes/vaults are just an upgrade of that I wouldn't call it a quest really, just a very rare item (everything else depends on player imagination); Really like the part about moving them around, but I don't think the engine allows object manipulation at the moment, would be cool to see players moving a heavy object up some stares and through narrow doors, the only thing missing would be a white van ;)
  25. That is just it, private hives will not be in the game initially, and from what you wrote, it means they will not be in game until version 1.0 hits steam - a year from alpha release probably. Not what OP had in mind I think... Well, I guess it depends on a play style, but the only really annoying ghosting I experienced was when I covered the only entrance to a building and somebody spawned behind me. When sniping from the woods, one should move all the time, if somebody ghosts 200+/- meters behind you it is no different than if somebody came from 500 meters. as per farming, the same solution as ghosting really, as you have to enter the buildings it will not be nearly as safe as logging going from building to building; and if you log in/out frequently, you will not be allowed to log in for "some" time, IMO it would work basically like ddos protection... I have no prob with private hives, but your topic title kind of reminds me of "say NO to cans", and will not have that ;) edit:still can't type
