help i keep getting 'battleye failed to update'
simjedi replied to somecallmepeanut's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Go HERE and download the "BE Client for Windows (32-bit)" file and place it in the "BattlEye" folders in "Arma 2\", "Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead" and the "C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\ArmA 2 AO\BattlEye" folder after deleting the old one that's already in there. -
In the in-game Video settings: Set the "Video Memory" option to "Default" this will ensure the game uses all the VRAM. Make sure you do not have "Shadows" turned off as it makes performance worse. Any texture "Details" should not be set to "Very low" also as they have the same effect. The lowest you should go with these is "Low". The biggest performance hits come from the in-game settings of "AA", "HDR" and "Post Processing" settings. If you disable "AA" it also turns off the "ATOC AA" which is BiS's own form of AA. Try normal AA on "Low" then adjust the "ATOC" and "PPAA". PPAA is a less demanding form of AA. Make sure the "Interface and 3D Resolution" are the same settings set at the native resolution of your monitor. If playing around with the above settings gets you nowhere, try lowering them as a last resort. If you have a 1920x1080 monitor lower it to 1280x720. Out of game settings: Go to the "NVIDIA Control Panel" and try disabling "Ambient Occlusion" as it is another major FPS robber of ArmA. Make sure "Anisotropic Filtering" and "AA" is set to "Application Controlled" and "AA Transparency" is "Off" "Single Display Performance Mode" to "On" and "Power Management" to "Maximum Performance". Try different settings for the "Texture Filtering". Lower for more FPS but not a nice as picture. Turn "Treaded Optimization" to "Off". FPS testing can be done from the "Single Player", "Campaign" then "Scenerios" lists and choose the "E08: Benchmark" as it is the most balanced test. You cannot have the DayZ mod running or the tests will not work correctly, so just boot into OA itself to do them. Set "Visibility" to "1000" as that is where most servers have theirs set. If you do the above steps and get a good FPS with the benchmarks and then a low FPS online then it is the server dragging you down. It's important to stay on low ping servers as somebody with a high ping will drag everybody down. Software: Since you have an NVIDIA GPU your best friend in tuning is "NVIDIA Inspector". With that you have a lot more options to tweak. Type in "ArmA 2" in the "Profiles" section top left and pick "Operation Arrowhead", then click on the icon with a little man to get rid of the unwanted settings for easier tweaking. The list is long here what you can tweak and you will just have to play around with them to find what works best for you. I'll leave a couple of pics below with my settings if you want to try them. Just so you know I have the "Frame Rate Limiter" set in NI at 35fps because I've been playing ArmA long enough to know that high FPS's are just not possible with this game if you want eye candy. And even if I had a monster rig I would not get it.......lol. That's just the way it is with this game, major trade off's must be made. My GPU runs at about 40%-75% until it get into some heavy Pine tree and City areas where it jumps up to 100% and my fps can then drop to nearly 25. But it's still smooth to my eyes as there is not such a huge fps gap between light and heavy load. But man do I have some nice eye candy and it's actually quiet playable.....hehe

Just to make things clear - weapons nerf is not a DayZ patch.
simjedi replied to davidecibel's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You won't find them over there because they are over here. DayZ is a mod for ArmA 2. Just the like mod forums people post mostly there in a mods thread just like here. The game is not DayZ it's ArmA 2. -
Try here Server General

Newest beta is 95389 -
Go here for the modding community. Arma 2 & - OA Addons & MODS: Complete Arma 2 & - OA Addons & MODS: Discussion If you do mod them they will not work if the signatures do not match. Even offline.
-
All the .pbo files have signature files that go along with them. If they do not match up, yes you will run into problems. Only way to do such things is to create them yourself for a mod.
-
MSI Afterburner is totally free and will allow it. You can even record video.
-
I don't stream, but I used this guide with the x264 codecs and there is barely a fps drop. Just make sure to use the exact settings because he wasn't joking, anything else will give a big hit. GUIDE

It may have been a recent patch by looking at all the latest posts. Usually when a new patch comes out something else usually breaks....lol -

Yeah that's a decent program. By looking at your specs I would guess your CPU is probably the limiting factor since ArmA needs a lot of processing power. -

You hard drive can become like a newspaper thrown everywhere, if it's busy searching all over the place for what it needs bad lag can happen. A defrag can kinda sort it back together. I don't recommend using windows defrag. Something like SmartDefrag does a lot better. -

See what you get in the test. If that still flunks try running ccleaner and doing a defrag. ArmA uses the hard drive a lot so if it's not in tip top shape it can cause problems. -

In the games main menu, go to Single Player then Scenarios. Run test #8. Be sure to turn off the DayZ mod before you do it because it's bugging them out. -

Have you tried playing a single player mission or some of the included fps test in the game? Try seeing what you get there because servers can also lower the fps. Set the view distance to 2k because that's near where the limits set server side is. -
That's been in the log for the past 5 beta patches. The numbers at the start of the line tell what beta patch they were introduced in.

Rocket has already said there will be no such system. He wants the players to decide what is valuable by what they are trying to accomplish and the things needed to do so. Example, if someone wants to be a farmer they will need farming supplies and if someone wants to PvP they will need weapons. If a farmer finds some weapons they do not need they can trade it to the PvP'rs who have found farming supplies.
-
If Rocket Didn't Push Out The Patch, Surely There's Some Way He Can Un-nerf/Reason With The Devs.
simjedi replied to Chewbacca Jesus's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Going to have to agree. They should leave ArmA alone. Not catering to the CoD crowd is the reason why I have stuck with it so long. This is a bad move. -
Oh god no, I hate that mod..... :|
