I have GPU=6950x2, CPU=i5 2500k. Why can't I run this game well?
simjedi replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Along with that I would say to also turn off all other forms of AA. That includes Transparency Multi/SuperSampleing AA and AToC. ArmA 2 was designed to run without it and we were lucky to even get it for AO as the community had to twist their arms for it. Even if you look at the videos for ArmA 3 you can tell it's disabled so they are following the same train of thought again. -

Try doing an fps test from the single player scenario list, either 1 or 8 to see what you get as the server can drag it down. You have to disable the DayZ mod first as it bugs them out. If you can get more than 24fps on test #2 with a screenshot to show proof you get my beans.....lol -
Rocket Said its up to the players to do something about bandits
simjedi replied to ThePunisher (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This is a sandbox game, if you want a theme park game there is always WOW....... :P -
From what I have seen the idea for a stand alone DayZ will be like a very simplified Eve Online/MineCraft hybrid. The new ArmA 3 engine along with the current one has a very good editor already in place to make that happen. So trying to do that in the cry engine will be impossible.

Not only no, but HELL NO! You can't have my beans.

When can players play the zombies?
simjedi replied to alienxxi's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You can go into the profile editor on the main menu in the game and pick a Zombie skin. I don't know if it works in game though as I have not tried it. -
So Dean "Rocket" Hall is Breaking away from Bohemia to create stand alone Dayz?
simjedi replied to BaitedHook's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
A stand alone DayZ will be based off of the new ArmA 3 engine. It will remain in his and BiS's hands. -
You cannot downgrade beta versions, you will have to reinstall the game. !Beta Troubleshooting, Tips, FAQs

FPS progressively drops need to restart my computer.
simjedi replied to Comraderam7's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
When you start to slow down hold in LEFT SHIFT then press the NUM PAD MINUS key, then let go and type FLUSH to flush the video memory out. Make sure your in a safe spot as the receiving window will show up as it reloads the textures. -
SixUpdater is most likely your problem. Just install the game and manually add the @DayZ folder and files.

I use to do that and it works very well. Trick is having enough ram to do it and finding the right .pbo's to stick in there. Now that I have an SSD it's not even worth it anymore. But if you got the extra ram just sitting there doing nothing it's a nice tweak. A bit cumbersome to do and a cool little experiment to try out. ETA: Here is the original thread that started it all. QWERTZ is a good guy and I use to play on his server all the time. Here's how I got ARMA2 to perform smoothly using RAMDISK

Looking for some advice for recording some of our DayZ Adventures.

DXTory does a very nice job. Follow this guide to the letter for minimal loss of fps: GUIDE -

Forcing a certain refresh rate in ArmA 2 CO.
simjedi replied to DTsoy's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Did you try clicking on it still? When they are grey it usually means it's set to default. And yes it works with the Beta patches. -
Forcing a certain refresh rate in ArmA 2 CO.
simjedi replied to DTsoy's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
You can't change to a refresh rate that your monitor does not support. The only thing you can do is use a Frame-Rate Limiter. NVIDIA Inspector has one that allows you to do it. See my post HERE. ETA: Also be sure to still enable VSYNC as it gives a FPS boost. -
The DayZ mod was made for the community that has always played ArmA, a very small but loyal base. Somewhere along the line it became a phenomenon and attracted huge numbers of people that it was never intended for. I can tell you never played ArmA before just like the vast majority of players whom are playing it now. Mods for ArmA have always been slow paced in development because it's either been just one person or a small handful of people working on them in their spare time, never expecting to get paid for their time. This is the mod community. It was assumed it would be the same for this mod. Nobody and I mean nobody expected it. And nobody in their right mind can expect that someone in that mindset could have been prepared. DayZ was developed for a engine at it's life's end. If anyone could have foreseen this I'm sure it would have been held off until ArmA 3 or made on an entirely different engine, but it wasn't and now you see the results. It's not really anyone's fault, it just happened. ArmA 3 will be perfect for DayZ because it's based on the updated engine that makes it what it is now. Has anyone new even dived into the editor (2d and 3d) yet? It's amazing how much depth it has and the newer one will be perfect for the ideas being thrown out for DayZ's future. There is more going on behind the scenes now than just working on the mod, the bigger picture is now just starting to be painted but it's still on it's first stroke. So time, LOT'S of time will be needed to get it right. Rocket as already stated that he has been given lot's of offers but all they cared about was the numbers and that didn't interest him, because just like many mod developers it's not about that and those developing companies just don't get it. Games on the PC have been mostly stale because most developing companies tailor to the lowest common denominator of the console world and DayZ with all it's bugs breathed new life into the gaming world almost over night. Have you seen the latest Resident Evil trailers? They're atrocious and signal a new low of lows. I'm not too worried about another company putting out a wannabe DayZ because that's just what they will be, wannabe's. This mod has brought back what gaming is supposed to be about and no big developer will go that route because it's not about numbers and they're not going to have it. My .02 with flame suit on so flame away!

I still don't understand why this site recommends the 666 updater because it's horrid. Glad you got it sorted out!

Horrible performance in cherno/electro
simjedi replied to Fryseboks's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Instead of rebooting the game try holding [Left Shift] down and then press the [Numpad - (minus)] button. Then let go and type FLUSH to flush the video memory. You won't see it being typed but it will register. -
Maybe there was some kind of update, when using the beta's auto-update should be turned off so check that also

Once you apply a Beta patch you can not downgrade to a lower version, you have to uninstall the game then reinstall it. If using Steam make sure you verify each game, meaning Arma2 and Arma2 AO after the install. Then run just Arma2 by itself load the Armory and test drive something then exit run ArmA2 AO and do the same thing again. After that is done apply the patch then install the DayZ mod. ETA: It's also a good idea to make backups of your games before applying the patch so you don't have to re-download all over again, just delete the local files and restore.

Low FPS is just the way it is with ArmA. It's been an accepted fact with ArmA players for a long time now because the game is coded like poo.....lol
