We need some form of law, and a place to post bounty's.
simjedi replied to blynx's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't know what happened but the servers before DayZ use to announce when someone changed their name. -
So, is hacking impossible to fix or what?
simjedi replied to Lowbei's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hacker hacks. BattlEye reports hacks, updates to block hacks. Hacker creates new hacks. BattlEye reports hacks, updates to block hacks. Rinse, repeat, rinse, repeat. -
Great deathmatch / team deathmatch mod !
simjedi replied to CERVO (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You can't just go running out in the open either. You need to scan every possible direction from where a bullet can come from. Don't treat it as if it's a CoD game because it will not work. You must be like a Ninja. :P -
So, is hacking impossible to fix or what?
simjedi replied to Lowbei's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You need to realize that DayZ is running off of public servers and not in-house one's where someone is constantly monitoring and catching hacks in progress. BattlEye is the only line of defense. So yes Rocket is correct when he says the system is working as it should be. -
Mouse lag and negative mouse acceleration
simjedi replied to cybz's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
If your using Windows, try opening the Control Panel and navigate to the Mouse settings. Go to the Pointer Options tab and make sure it's dead center of the speed slider. Also try un-checking Enhance pointer precision. Just so you know ArmA's gun-to-mouse-movement isn't instant like other fps games because it takes into account the weight of the weapon. -
rendering distance for grass while moving
simjedi replied to aenima's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
That setting is set server side so no one has an advantage over the other. Just like viewing distance I believe. Keeps the snipers from having too good. -
Turn pre rendered frames to 1. The less the cpu has to work to feed the gpu the better. ArmA is heavily cpu dependent and needs all the cycles it can get. See my signature since you have an nvidia card.

You can if you want but you only get the low rez textures with Arma Free.

ArmA 2 does not support EAX. ArmA 2 does have surround as I get it with a HDMI connection to my receiver, but it's pure PCM 5.1 surround. Seems Creative cards have a problem outputting surround without EAX support and you have do some trickery to get it to work. Check this thread out to see if there is any help to get it. Thread: 3D surround sound ETA: Or what SeanOfTheDead says.

Have you tried running a single player mission? I was on a few servers last nite and the fps was horrible. With the amount of fps problems while playing online I'm starting to think that most admins don't realize that they have to actually reboot their servers. It's recommended they do this every 6 hours, so if your a server admin reading this, REBOOT YOUR DAMN SERVERS!

Tips on DayZ performance optimization
simjedi replied to aTypicalGamer's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Umm, like never ever close down explorer. Gamebooster is cool though. Shameless promotion, see my sig line for tweaking. -
Open BOTH of these folders. C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\ArmA 2 AO\BattlEye and the ArmA 2 AO install folder wherever it's at and goto the Expansion\BattlEye folder. Download the new BattlEye file v1.61.94876 BE Client for Windows (32-bit) from HERE. Delete the old BEClient.dll from BOTH folders and replace them with the new one.

Why does it take so long to enter server now??
simjedi replied to dellamorte's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
It is the weekend so most likely there is a lot of people on taxing the hive server. -
Dayz Standalone, Do arma 2 players need to pay again?
simjedi replied to PC. (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
ArmA 2 warfare is a blast, too bad most are missing out on it as there is nothing else like it. And yes EVERYBODY will have to pay again. I'm hoping for a DLC myself as ArmA 3 is what I'm waiting for more than DayZ. -
Which is better; installing DayZ manually, or using the Six Updater?
simjedi replied to Simu's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Manual. -
Before you can retort with "I can play other fps games just fine" ArmA isn't other fps games. Couple things you can try is by disabling Multi/SuperSampleing AA in your NVIDIA Control Panel. Along with Ambient Occlusion as this is the most performance hit your GPU can take with ArmA. Turn VSYNC and Triple Buffering on so you don't bottle neck your card because ArmA is heavily CPU dependent and it needs the cycles. In the Video Options in game turn AA to normal or low and Video Memory size to Default so all your GPU's memory is used. Make sure Video Resolution and Interface Size is set to be the same, the native resolution of your monitor. Post processing to Low and HDR to normal Also try going to the config files in C:\Users\USERNAME\My Documents\ArmA 2 and edit these lines in them. ArmA2.cfg GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1; GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=1; ArmA2OA.cfg GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1; GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=1; AToC=0; PPAA=3; PPAA_Level=3; <<== THIS defeats the purpose of Multi\SuperSampleing AA and AToC (ArmA's own unique AA) PPAA is actually SMAA Try these settings out and see what you get.

Your processor is waaaaay too slow. ArmA is the Grim Reaper to CPU's.
-
Not enough CoD-Kiddies references used, so none of my beans for that. Pretty much agree with you about everything except the 3P perspective because ArmA has some pretty bad collision detection IMO. But that doesn't offset the rest of the argument so you can have some beans for it!

Yah Commander is bugged as it says the same for me. I left a post in his thread to tell him about it so hopefully he will fix it. What kind of crash is it doing. What does it say? -

Invalid CD Key Please Help Me! Arma 2 and CO
simjedi replied to Braydon (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Only thing I use DayZ Commander for is a server browser as I do all updates manually so I know exactly what's going on. You know how to install the beta patch. When a new game beta patch comes out all you do is delete the 2 files "Launch Arma2 OA Beta Patch" and "Uninstall Arma2 OA Beta Patch" in the ArmA 2: OA folder. Then delete the "Beta" folder located in the "Expansion" directory before you install the latest one. Don't worry as it has no effect on the game. For BattlEye go HERE and download the "BE Client for Windows (32-bit)" file and place it in the "BattlEye" folder in the "Expansion" directory and the "C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\ArmA 2 AO\BattlEye" folder after deleting the old one that's already in there To install the latest DayZ mod that comes out just open the "Addons" folder inside the @DayZ folder located in the "ArmA 2:OA" install folder and delete everything in there. Then I download the latest one from HERE then unzip them to the "Addons" folder inside the @DayZ folder and your done. That's it and it's not hard at all and you know it's done the right way. Hope this helps.
