    DayZ FOR XBOX 360!!

ArmA on consoles?!! Oh hell no. Consoles are the lead weight of the gaming world dragging it down with them. Go away console kiddies.
  3. Can't get on the site either. Does anybody know where this came from. Did BiS release this?
  4. Welcome to the world of community ran servers!.....lol
  5. You're doing it wrong ArmA takes into account the weight of the weapon. You're still doing it wrong. ArmA isn't every other game and it will never be. You see that H.U.D. on the right side of the screen? You're lucky to even have one, but you're still doing it wrong. You're not playing CoD, so please DO IT. Edited for spelling mistakes.....
  6. I made a guide for using a RamDisk if you want to check it out Setting up a RamDrive for ArmA 2\DayZ

    official 1.62 patch is out

The way it usually goes is Steam gets it about 3 day later, something about the process involved. Maybe now since so many people are playing it will be sooner.

    are the profiles server-side stored?

That I do not know, sorry.

    are the profiles server-side stored?

The Hive server keeps track of your inventory and your location by your unique identity key that was given to you upon install. If you are talking about your name and the look you gave your character in the games main menu the Hive does not keep track of that as that is in a configuration file on your hard drive.

    are the profiles server-side stored?

Yes profiles are stored on the Hive server.
  11. I tried that and it did not work for me. Only way I got the older version is thru Steam. Bet your ass I saved it though....lol Sucks I have to copy\paste the versions but at least I can play vanilla ArmA 2 online now. Hope you way works for others though. And I feel that fustration man, I feel it...... ;)
  12. Trevors suggestion. Replacing the current version of BattlEye with a older one. Downloading the one older version off the BattlEye website did not work. I had to re-install the game and update BattlEye from within Steam. My problem had nothing to do with DayZ, it was with vanilla ArmA 2.
  13. Maybe if you use anything else besides the .pbo's. So don't move anything else. ArmA 2 players have been using ramdisk's for years (including myself) with no problems. So just stick with the .pbo's and you should be fine.
  14. Yes this worked! The only thing though is you cannot use the older BattlEye .dll from their website as it is too new.. I had to reinstall the game (Steam version) and then through Steam right click on ArmA 2: OA and re-install BattlEye that way. But it did work and was FINALLY able to join a Domination game. Thanks man I am forever grateful.

7FPS? Killer PC? Want playable Frames?READ!

Yes it is true. You cannot set a view distance greater than what is set on the server. You can turn it down lower, but you can't set higher than what the server has it as.
  16. Oh man I have this same problem and miss playing regular ArmA 2 online. If this works you can have all my beans!
  17. Yes you can do this with any file. I recommend just doing it with the .pbo files from the common folder. ArmA pulls a lot from the hard drive so this is an excellent tweak to speed things up. Just remember that this takes up your RAM, so make sure you leave enough or it will start being a burden on your system. I would recommend having no less than 8gig if you do that. Be sure you make a backup folder and copy the files into that before you move them over to the RamDrive. Just make sure you make the symbolic links in the Common folder and not your backup. Also whenever there is an update you will need to delete the files in both the RamDisk and the Symbolic links then move the .pbo files back from the backup folder into the Common directory before you do the update, then start again.
  18. It's very easy. Download LinkShellExtension, either 32-bit or 64-bit, whatever your operating system is and install. Restart when pormpted. Once installed make a backup folder then take the @DayZ folder from the ArmA 2: OA install folder and put it inside the RamDisk. Right click drag the @DayZ folder back into the ArmA 2: OA install folder. Next let go of right click and select Drop Here and then choose SymbolicLink Add -mod @DayZ to the end of the shortcut parameters (no need to point it to the RamDisk) and enjoy DayZ with your RamDisk! ETA 2: I made a guide using the method so if anybody wants to try this click on the link Tweaking Tips in my signature. ETA: I had to adjust the links. I think you guys crashed that poor man's website.....

View distance is set server side and cannot be defeated and is nothing new. This has been throughout all of ArmA's existence.
