    November Round-up

oh so awesome in understanding text and metaphorical language. (watch out ironic/hyperbolic statement you 500-zombie-guy) tho no reason to get personel raging (still)fanboy. so to sum up: you are ok with the whole project to be a failure/multiple failures and a lot broken promises, or if u want to call them "statements". i only give a second chance but none more. im quite sure BIS would have shredded the project SA by now if it wasnt "promised" to the community somehow. i really hope it breaks down in the first weeks of steam release like WarZ did. thats what it, well not it but the incompetent team, or better rocket, deserves in my eyes.

exactly. probably the alpha will be with 100 zeds, 10 players and 1 item....but hey, at least we get holding a compass in our hands instead of just pressing key for HUD popup. no srsly. they need to release soon, otherwise it will be a joke, tho for some it already is. so in the "end" they will do anything to bring out a somehow working version against their statements of "quality". PS: never, ever believe what rocket says. u will be disappointed and feeling decieved. because in most cases its garbage changing from week to week. PSS: and it really is funny when a lot of people still comment on rockets posts with the attitude:" oh yeah, im so wet, u make me horny rocket. keep that "great" work up u lustful awesome programer"

    November Round-up

u ever though the idea of a horde of zombies in the woods trough? u attract them by accident or however in the middle of nowhere with nowhere to hide or outrun them, like u could in a town. genius... it is almost 100% death, depending on how the zombies work now. because even if u can make it to the next town with 50 or whatever zombies running behind u, u will have attracted every other player seeing that huge crowd following someone, then he kills u.

    thats what Dean actually meant

you can also like justin bieber and miley cyrus if u like to. i dont mind. it was just my explanation for why Dean went silent again. he is talking without thinking and has low PR-skills. we would have been better off if the SA-developement was announced a year ago without giving Dean that much space in public. it was a management failure. but its done. not worth discussing.

i think by now Dean understood he messed up so much and isnt any more realated with releasing information until release. he lets people like Ivan take it, who we have nothing against.

its better not that shitty. if the first impression is bad, like it was with WarZ, DayZ is gonna be destroyed by media and players. you can be happy its on steam and they are obliging with refunds.

that would be absolutley legetimate and fine. but theres the thing that they/team/Dean dont release the 1 star food, they argue with the argument they need time to deliver a good game, yet claim the possible need of releasing the game without zombies. this is like pronouncing a 5 star restaurant but deliver 1 star food.

    October Round-up: #DayZDaily

wt....? whats this absurd argument about no zombies. DayZ has to be with zombies, it is defined through zombies. it would be a whole other genre if left out. and if i´m allowed to copy the text of DayZ frontpage "A 225 km2 open world post-soviet state and one of the areas hit by a new and presently unknown infection which has wiped out most of the world's population. You are one of the few who have survived and now you must search this new wasteland in order to fight for your life against what is left of the indigenous population, now infected with the disease. Go Solo, team up with friends or take on the world as you choose your path in this brutal and chilling landscape using whatever means you stumble upon to survive." From wiki "DayZ is an award winning 2012 multiplayer open world survival horror mod designed by Dean Hall for the 2009 tactical shooter video game ARMA 2 and its 2010 expansion pack, ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead. The mod places the player in the fictional post-Soviet state of Chernarus, where an unknown virus has turned most of the population into undead, violent zombies." and there is no wide range u can define a "core feature", zombies in DayZ are definitely one. its like u order bacon and eggs, and get only eggs. would u define bacon a core feature? srsly lol. however for everyone looking for another game "7 days to die" could get quite interesting. turns out to be a minecraft-dayz mix. i will keep an eye on that to see where pvp and severrules are going and a balanced survival pvp will be possible, sure it lacks the pure survival feature DayZ offers, when u meet other players, but still seems interesting http://7daystodie.com/

its a wrong camparison. its more like DayZ without Zombies is like Minecraft without beeing able to build, smth like that. noone bought the alpha of minecraft because they expected a filling "story" or "content". it was the cool corefeature which impressed, beeing able to build and mine anything (with friends). you also need to see it that way: everthing added to minecraft, needed to be invented. noone knew exactly where the whole thing were going. in DayZSA-alpha there is nothing, at least for me, which has to be "invented". all those gimmicks like craftting etc. dont need to fully work in alpha release for me. one year not beeing able to write a working serverarchitecture with tweaked graphics for ALPHA for a game which had its rough edges is just poor.
  11. Is this a new "argument" saying "you know nothing about gamedevelopement" came in a few posts here. i think everyone can compare other games and their path of developement to DayZ-developement. not very effective to denounce someone with that empty phrase.
  12. i´m not impatient, i just dont even care about the game being good anymore. at this point i really realy hope it fails as hard as WarZ did. and youll pay your 30 bucks and be like "mh he was right the whole time."
  13. its funny because at some point that was exactly what he was doing, maybe because of all the people complaining. He was like "i´m happy if people don´t buy it, rather than them being disapointed in what i deliver" or "i´m happy if people lose interest and the hype cools down" ... thats something that doesnt match with your statement i´m quite sure he says things like that because by now he is terribly scared of failing the whole project and that more or less rigthly. and after all you missed the point. i´m not angry because he says things like "INNOVATIVE!" "Game changing" whatever, its good if there are new features, new cool other stuff, really. but the thing is he says these things to row back few months later and to sum up that in reality it was crap and needs to be reworked (see example above)
  14. its my honest opinion. im not trying to troll in any way. i´m giving facts and tell you why i feel that way, dont think thats trolling. i just cant understand you guys beeing that blind, not open for argmunets and then coming with the standard things: "we want the game to be good, game developement takes time" loosing the sense of reality and being able to refelct objectively what has been said by the developers and what has been done by them until now. starting at 15:46 Dean is using PAST TENSE, "was, has been issue, huge performance improvement" and then 2 months later: oh doesnt work out need to rework? great. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlm_djJe708
  15. see your are blind and not listening. Maybe they need 4 years of developement to produce a story, an engine, whatever, A WHOLE GAME.(with few hours singleplayer-expirience indeed) Dean himself said all the map improvements, to a map which already was there and didnt need to be created, whatever u want to claim here, all the items, crafting whatever is not the reason for not releasing the Alpha. i´m not demanding any of these terms to be complete in any way. but i´m demanding an alpha of a tweaked existing engine after one year, yes, i really does. to the AI: i know exactly that he wasnt pleased with the progress/behaviour of zombie AI and rewrites it from scratch, but u know what? he/team needs months to realize the zombies are still buggy, glitchy, jumpy crap when setting a few new patchfinding points. You know its the way this whole thing happens. There was this video in the beginng where Dean was selling the zombie AI-progression as huge improvement, where we saw the zombie runnig to his new waypoints following the player. i just thought:"well doesnt look too different for me, but hey he said theres still lot of work with it so it may get good" and the forums were full of this crap "wuhu nice Dean. keep it up we love you. yeah. i want a child with you." and what happens then? he throws the "great improvements" away and starts from scratch? there´s something that doesnt match for me, and angers me.
  16. weren´t you the guys defending Dean for whatever he is accused for even if true? and only because i have a few posts on the forums doesnt mean i didnt read them or watched interviews, in all follow the developement does it? i respond now because there are still the blindloving fanboys defending him whereever it is possible and because i´m sick of Deans talking gamescon-impression in connection with the ZombieAI beeing at ZERO was the final straw. see: even tho i could have understand the fact that they need time for the "networkbubble" to be decent, i can defenitly not understand why the f. AI is at zero after one year of developement. i dont demand anything to be perfect for ALPHA(srsly) but he/they fail in coreparts to get the game running and u guys are still pleased with weaponattachement and crafting. these are cool, yes, but in fact gimmicks worth nothing right now.
  17. and thats exactly the point. he always does that. he´s maybe feeding the fanboys, but he rubs salt into everyones others wound, at least for me. its an empty phrase, maybe he finished an baseballcap... whatever than just say it, i´m annoyed by his attitude "we are fnishing things, we are getting close" and then he shows this new melee baseballbat. And you`ll be like "thanks. gg. Dean keep up the good work." seriously i disapprove Dean by now. i watched all the interviews, and sure he is a nice guy and trying hard to please everyone, but in the end all he has proven is that he is a big show-off talking guy, nothing more. its my oppinion think whatever you want, no need to discuss any further, i understand that you want the game to be good and may be still "impressed" by the "work", but for me since august and the not released alpha Dean deserves to fail. Why? because basically he was lying, i dont know when exactly, far before august, he said the client-serverarchitecture, networkbubble, whatever u guys call it by now, was finished. maybe he really believed that and 2 players were able to play, maybe he was lying on purpose whatever it doesnt even matter. fact is the team is obviously not able to get a stable running server for a lot of players because of all the items, zombies etc. the server needs to spawn and communicate with the client. after one year? a whole year? they are not able to provide a more or less stable architecture for APLHA. and at this point I say "thanks. gg. Dean keep up the good work with dat programming skills"
  18. They will buy it anyway, may be true. however Dean is a man.. no THE MAN of breaking promises. his credibility is lost and in his future he should and probably will never get a job where he gets in contact with press/community as he is now. he is to big of a show-off and building this great game in his head but has no sense of what is possible within what timetable and he keeps talking hisself into trouble more and more. and now that he takes another "break" with his new tweet is the icing on the cake. how many last rounds and final phases is he going to start? lol
  19. so the september roundup is ...that after months (a year almost) of developement and the second slipped "release date" in august -they are still at redoing gimmicks, -have no working zombie-ai -and the most critical point: still to stupid to develope a working server client architecture. i mean srsly? one year of development and not even a "buggy" alpha is out. if DayZ fails... if rocket fails, it/he really deserves it, although i really hope not because i would like to play it

DayZ Developer Blog 3rd August 2013

i expected to see at least something and definitly more than a new wounded-walk animation. what exactly i wanted to see? i dont no...really. maybe i just hoped we would see some functional gameplay, more than 10 player on the map, more than shooting still glitching zombies. maybe something that makes DayZ SA to SA. and now i reached a point where i dont even care anymore, because this still takes months and the milestone "server-client-architecture" never actually worked. rocket can keep up his twaddling about what they want to do and they are working hard... at least some people of the community are pleased with nothing at all. finally the reason why there is no weekly devblogupdate. there is nothing they could show except talking rocket and others about future plans.
  21. BongomanConk

    Where are all the devblogs?

but always remember... rocket (and team) is so fast in developing and adding new things that when he posts the devblog-milestoneblog, whatever it´s gonna be, it´s already outdatet within minutes.
  22. BongomanConk

    Where are all the devblogs?

week nearly at its end and the devblog is nowhere to be seen. it´s going to be a "i will work the whole nigth to finish it"-thing, poorly put together and showing sh**. i really liked rocket in the beginng. but he has become someone who just talks...taking back his "internal" releasedate made me realize that at last. he said when the "mmostructure" client-server-architecture is finished, the alpha can be pushed out? nothing happend so far has it? he wants the game to make "perfect" for the "core-gamers", dont you think they could cope with the bugs still left? no rocket is scared that casual gamers will be disappointed and do not buy it, with all his "i dont care if you loose the hype"-talking in mind. and no, i dont want to revive the discussion, what why when (not) happend. i just need to state my opinion once in a while.. and im nearly done with this whole thing. this upcoming devblog is his last chance to convince me that the game is going somewhere, although there is now reason if the serverstructure "works" like he said and hold the alpha back
  23. the hype? come on really? everything what changes for me is that i get more and more disappointed in the staff. At some point there were promises and statements about streams, videos, release-styles...but nothing or almost nothing was considered to be important enough to really do. ive been really really happy when rocket excused his absence and the lack of information a few months ago and i thought at that point it will get "better", but in fact it didnt. recorded videos, always late and put together hasty in the middle of the night, trying to keep another promised update with no regularity or system after all. now rocket again is gone, which i can understand because it was planned before and costs a lot of money and whatever, and we are fed up with the pax videos which were already on youtube. maybe not in this format but almost...whichs buys them another 2-4 weeks where "updates" were posted. im just disappointed because of their lack of dependability. it cant be that hard to take 1 or 2 hours every 2 weeks and write together what was done, what hasnt been done yet, what the artist did...plain:whatever the past week(s) happened. and if they dont want that, they should have started it in the first place.

i know, but i just needed to tell my opinion and state that my patience has an end although i will buy it whenever it is released <_< even though if its not before rocket is on holidays i am going to deeply hate him >:( and he cant outweigh it with the quality of the game.

    DayZ Developer Blog 8th March

I know im going to be hated, but really? thats the new devblogupdate? really? put together in haste with people who do not seem that interested in the game...and few other things the thread already mentioned. On the top containing not much new information at all and at that point im starting to get angry. Dont get me wrong i appreciate the work which is done here and i hope for a great game, but where is that "we will have the community help us develope the game" minecraft style thingie? For what reason ever (WarZ-fail?) youre not having us "that" involved was and is discussed somewhere else but at some point it is just frustrating. You really had me think when i saw the running and "jumping" over things and rocket said: "we're defenitly not going to show that youre just clipping through it". I mean what is rocket trying to achieve? i think the majority of us could cope with bugging animations if the mechanics behind it works. What i want to say is that i think they/he gets lost with details at some point which wouldnt really be necessary and just raises my expactations of how good it will be every day the game is not released. ...and then i might end up disappointed
