    Top 10 Features to Remove

My goodness, people are still complaining about things in first person they can so easily change. Blue, double tapping - on the numpad will increase your first person FOV to well above regular third person, and it's virtually the same as third person after double tapping -. The headbob is easily changed, People say first person is clunky, which i admit can be true, but the real reason most people use third person is to look around walls. And the OP means looking for zombies in an area to indicate the presence of a player when he says "Recon by zombies".

    DayZ Animal Suggestion

Why drop bears? Aren't Russian bears scary enough?

Player Skill. (This is not a leveling thread).

Not necessary, you would already start out bad at it, and improve after time. That's the entire point.

    Optional team based friendly fire.

Because when servers have an option to make the game easier, most use it. Look at how many private hives have 'spawn with gun/loadout', or at the very least, spawn with extra equipment.

I like that idea, maybe an animation of 'trying to load the incorrect mag but it won't fit'.
  6. Ah, but the comments are a maelstrom of ideas, my friend...
  7. Well, the Non-Lethal Weapons thread from this afternoon might answer your question: http://dayzmod.com/f...lethal-weapons/ Sarcasm aside, I do support this.

    New damage system

This is a great idea. There's a game called Ground Branch in the works that's doing a realistic damage system. They're basing their game design on NORG, Natural Order of Realistic Gameplay. It sounds awesome, and it sounds awesome for DayZ as well. People would actually fear a pistol, and I think players need to be a little more afraid of firearms than they currently are.

Player Skill. (This is not a leveling thread).

Making complex tasks actually complex is a must have. I would love this as a feature in DayZ, but if it's not very hard to do something, then people will become proficient at these tasks quite quickly. If you want something difficult, it needs: Variables. To make an example, depending on where a player is shot, pulling out a bullet could be as dangerous as the bullet was in the first place. You'd have to make sure that you don't hit a major artery in the arm or leg, or any of the vital organs in the chest. You could have a lot of unsatisfied patients if you don't know what you're doing. No hud. No 'Press X' pop-up, no indicators saying where to place something, you need to know beforehand. Realism: Not just 'place the object here', maybe something that actually requires a rudimentary real-world knowledge. That would ensure a bit of variety in player skills. It could be hard to do something like this right, but if they did, it would be amazing. I like what you're thinking. :beans:

I would like to see this in Dayz standalone!

Wait, so you posted this idea twice on purpose? The suggestions thread isn't some sort of lottery where more entries = better chance of success. You're just cluttering the front page with needless duplicates. If you have a good idea, and get some support from the community, then the devs might listen to you.

    Securing Buildings

The spawning system I'd like to see would be this: Once an area is Completely cleared, the spawn rates change. Zombies still spawn there, but way less, and it stays that way as long as it is cleared before every restart. For every restart that it is uncleared, the spawn rate increases, until going back to normal. The real danger would come from wanderers. Wandering hordes of varying sizes that could and would pass through anywhere. They would be more attracted to areas that have been cleared and settled. A zone could be cleared, but won't stay cleared forever.

    Bears. Russian Bears.

THE ANTI GAME - STAY THE COURSE

    Well said, sir. Well said.

    Non-lethal weapons.

I'd like to have a way to stun players, but not knockout gas or tranquilizer darts. They would seem out of place to me, and from what I hear, they're not very reliable. Hitting someone in the head would be good, but there should be a windup, like throwing a grenade (preferably still being able to move, though). Use too little force, and you would just alert them to your presence. Use too much, and you give them brain damage or kill them. Tear gas, with gas masks added, would be awesome for PvP. Maybe flashbangs too, although I think those have a chance to kill people under certain circumstances. Maybe that could be added in, but I don't think that one is too necessary.

    Optional team based friendly fire.

Well, hopefully in the standalone, there will be apparel that is unique enough to identify players you are working with (Coloured bandanas/armbands would be A+), so that we wouldn't have to resort to artificial barriers. And while a satchel charge may be a bit unlikely, what about grenades? You can find those things anywhere. No need to clear the area of friendlies, just toss them at whatever.
  16. Clumzy (DayZ)

    Optional team based friendly fire.

I'm sorry, but just like in real life, accidental friendly fire should always be a possibility. I mean, something like this added into the game would be the first step down a path that most players wouldn't want to take. Would you really want someone massacring bambis in Cherno to have a satchel charge blown right beside them, but not get killed because a teammate did it as part of the offense? I know I don't.

    Get Rid of Player Count

So, I had this idea, and I thought it may change the way people play on DayZ. What if there was no information that told you how many players are in a server? It would mean that no one could carelessly stroll into the airfields, knowing that there are 0 players in the lobby. It would mean that every time a player goes in to scavenge, there is an uncertainty that the player could encounter a large group of bandits, or nobody. There may be some problems out there, and I've thought of some, and ways to combat them. Looking for someone in a server So, what if you want to see who is in a server? You could just count the player names in the list and you would have an advantage. I think the solution to this would be a search function, so you can look up that player's name specifically. Computer Specs Having more people in a server causes decreases in performance. Hopefully this will be improved upon in the standalone, but if it is not improved enough, then there could be some sort of compatibility rating for a server and your pc. Not just regarding player count, but max limit of players, ping, whatever. I think one of the best parts of this game is the suspense of not knowing. So, I think this suggestion would make the experience even more intense. Please feel free to share your thoughts!

    Get Rid of Player Count

I think that finding a DayZ server could be streamlined, so I support anything that makes the process a bit better.

    Get Rid of Player Count

The icons and low/medium/high descriptions sound pretty good to me, that would give you a little bit of choice, and benefit people with low-end pcs, but still keep the mystery.
  20. Clumzy (DayZ)

    Get Rid of Player Count

Like I said, we could try to distribute the players with a "Find Optimal Server" function, or something. The real solution, of course, would just be to have less servers.
  21. Clumzy (DayZ)

    Get Rid of Player Count

That's not a bad idea, although that would only work for people who aren't looking for empty servers. Anyone wanting to walk around without fear would choose the "No Players" servers. I guess that would put that server into the "Players" category, thought, which might cause some people to join without the original person knowing if there was no player list in-game either(hopefully). I like it, you'll never truly know if you're completely safe while playing.

    Suggestion: Bags, Boxes, Bulk Items

I kind of like the duffel bag idea, that would definitely be something you could do in real life. But, why not just carry your backpack in one hand, or put a duffel bag on your back? Maybe if backpacks could be used like that as well, and things like grocery bags becoming improvised (and prone to spilling items/bursting open) backpack? With the crates and bulk items, I totally agree with you. There should be some items that players can't just toss into a vest pouch and keep on strollin', and the cargo space idea for cars is cool too. Beans for you.
  23. Clumzy (DayZ)

    Get Rid of Player Count

Well, that's a good point. However, I think a lot of players may choose not to join a server because it is empty. So by not knowing, this may change the way a person chooses servers. Maybe a 'find best server' function that will help distribute players more evenly. Sheepdawg, I agree with you on all of those points, Especially 3rd person. People may defend it zealously, but I think that the main reason everyone camps on roofs and snipes bambis is because they can use 3rd person as a periscope. I was once playing with a friend, and he was stuck on a floor below a cherno rooftop sniper, and the sniper was stuck on the top floor. I went to distract him, but got shot. Without 3rd person, the event wouldn't have just been some drawn-out campfest, but maybe an actual intense battle.
  24. These are all great ideas. DayZ is a survival game, this would add a lot more depth to the 'survival' aspect.

    Shooting out of a vehicle

Well, your opinion is right. This is not Grand Theft Auto. If you think that is a good reason not to put this feature in the DayZ standalone, though, I would have to disagree. Do you think that a passenger of a vehicle, or even a driver, would consider their firearm useless in a car chase because "this is not GTA"? In a life or death situation, I don't think most people would decide not to shoot at their attackers out of a car because they're not in a car chase video game? I've seen a video of a police officer leaning out of a car with an assault rifle, and I've heard of soldiers shooting out of helicopters with M4s. I think this is a feature that would be amazing in the standalone, as well as jayman's idea of being able to duck down at the cost of reduced visibility.
