Not everyone wants a map of Chernarus lying around in their house, it would be simpler to have an improved map. Why do you think it's good the way it is now? And hand signals should be added, because not everyone wants to announce their presence by speaking. Hand signals are used because they're silent, not just because they're encoded.

I was thinking that you can always sprint, but more slowly with lower stamina, along the lines of Red Orchestra 2.

You're right, you are being a bit of a Negative Nancy. DayZ has its flaws, and most of your complaints will be addresed. Feel free to wait until the standalone, I'm sure it will be improved. I like your idea of clearing an area, that should be possible but only with great effort. Crossbow bolts can be recovered, by the way.

Thought on nutrition, food, drinks, and survival in general.
Clumzy (DayZ) replied to Jeremiah Cross's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
If foraging is added, then a way to add difficulty would be adding poisonous berries, so you have to be very careful with what you eat. -
It wouldn't be too hard to discourage players from using it in combat. I was thinking it could be used for jumping over gaps, say, from one rooftop to another, if you manage to get to a rooftop. As long as you can't shoot while jumping, and can't jump great distances as many times as you want, I don't see why it shouldn't be added.

It would really only make it easier for lone players. If there's a group, it would be way easier and safer for a person to get out of the current vehicle and drive the new one. Anyways, while we're talking about moving vehicles, I'd like to suggest pushing cars, both repaired and destroyed, so I can do things like this (skip to 1:20): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ga_r6AGZ2eU

1. Make jumps use up stamina 2. No weapon usage while jumping 3. Jump key also lets you vault and climb 4. Realistic jump height And that would be awesome.

1. There are going to be a lot more clothing options in the standalone, so I'm sure there will be some options for identification. 2. All survivors are immune. 3. Nah.

Instead of tents for storage...
Clumzy (DayZ) replied to The Carnivore's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think there's been talk about burying loot in the standalone, but why not try to add a way to conceal tents better? I'm hoping there will be things like camo nets in the standalone, and maybe different kinds of tents, some more visible than others. -
Progression System in DayZ Standalone
Clumzy (DayZ) replied to BoaDrago's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think that the "minigame" approach, if done correctly, would be a lot more engaging than using "skills" to, say, replace an engine. It may be hard to implement, but that's no reason not to do it. DayZ is a really innovative game and I think that if it's possible, it should be added. I don't have anything against skills systems in general, but I really don't think DayZ is the game that needs it. By the way, Uuni, is run speed going to be dependent on health in the standalone? If so, then I guess it would negate the need for the kind of microskills I mentioned, especially if it affects all physical tasks. -
Progression System in DayZ Standalone
Clumzy (DayZ) replied to BoaDrago's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yeah, so why don't we make the tasks like changing an engine and sniping more difficult, so not everyone can do it? I'm okay with getting better at running by running (And only VERY basic tasks like running), and to the people who say it would encourage grinding: Yes, it does that in the real world, too. It's called exercising. The points system should only apply to things that require no skill or knowledge in the real world. Running, throwing, swimming, things like that only. Only very subtle differences, and only if you remain healthy. Changing an engine should not be possible with a single mouse click just because your character has done it before. And regarding your RPG-related posts, playing as a character in a fictional setting does not make it a role playing game. That would apply to every game, ever. There is no role to play, you're just a nameless, faceless person, and that's it. -
If a group finds more a vehicle while already in one, there's nothing stopping them from just having one person get out and drive the car. This would only really change things for people playing alone.

Progression System in DayZ Standalone
Clumzy (DayZ) replied to BoaDrago's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
You mean role playing game? It doesn't seem to me that DayZ is role-playing, seeing how your avatar is a nameless fellow in a vest that looks like every other nameless fellow with a vest in the game. -
No to the insta kill, but it should be a very high chance of death with one hit.
-
But this game is about actual learning, not grinding and leveling up. Actions should be based on player skills, not character skills.
-
Man, this suggestion is getting a lot of flak. We can't have the occasional fly buzzing around as an indication? I think hygiene is going to be important in the standalone, what with all the infections. Going into a lake could reduce the chance of infection and zombies detecting you,

Progression System in DayZ Standalone
Clumzy (DayZ) replied to BoaDrago's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
They wouldn't have to be the same thing over and over. Think of a repairing "Minigame". It wouldn't be the same thing every time, because there are different cars that would be built differently. Think about healing someone after a wound. It would be different every time, was it a bite, a gunshot or shrapnel? Where was he wounded? What medical supplies do you have at your disposal? If the devs put time and effort into a system like this, it would really pay off. -
A Great suggestion for DayZ Standalone or a mod.
Clumzy (DayZ) replied to tomk's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'm sure it will come to that. No, melee won't ruin the game, guys, because guns. If someone manages to sneak up on a sniper and wants to bash his brains in, whats the problem? It's not game breaking. There should just be a melee system, be it fists, hatchets or baseball bats with nails in them. For all the people who are saying that sneaking up on someone and knocking them out is OP, just look at the DMR. It usually knocks someone unconscious from one hit, and you don't have to get right behind the person to do it. -
A Great suggestion for DayZ Standalone or a mod.
Clumzy (DayZ) replied to tomk's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Ha, are you serious? Would you rather run right up to another potentially hostile player, and run a high risk of detection, or shoot him in the back from 300 meters away? I think it's fine if people could just use their guns to smash people in the head with, but give it a chance of lethality, so you're more careful if you really don't want to kill them. Besides, guns should be more lethal anyways, so I'm sure a melee attack wouldn't be that overpowered if that was the case. -
If it did 1100 damage it could still take around 10 shots to kill. I think we should do away with the hitpoint system entirely, and instead focus on lethal and non lethal shots. Shoot someone in the heart, neck or head, and they're pretty much done for. Shoot someone in the foot 30 times, and they wouldn't just die from being shot, maybe from shock or blood loss. None lethal injuries would still have big effects on the player though, such as being knocked down or immobilized. Then people will stop having so many problems with guns being so weak, and you won't be able to take 3 rounds from an assault rifle and walk away.

Improved noise system, zombie warning, improved map, regional loot, more tent/clothing varieties, satchel charges/ammo bandolier and more....
Clumzy (DayZ) replied to Trixxta's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
And satchel charges are in the game. -
Replace M107/AS50 with less effective russian equivalent
Clumzy (DayZ) replied to Xianyu's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
As a lot of people have said, the human body can survive a lot and instakills should be rare. I do agree with you, though, guns should be far more lethal. There should be more gunshot wounds that are an almost definite kill, even if not a quick one, and gunshots should be a lot more difficult to recover from. Also, more of injuries having permanent effects, and a knockout screen similar to ACE would be cool too. -
Progression System in DayZ Standalone
Clumzy (DayZ) replied to BoaDrago's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
No it doesn't, what it needs are non-artificial ways of player proficiency. Like making tasks such as healing wounds and replacing car parts require a basic real-world knowledge. Nobody wants perks, and people seem to be having plenty of fun with the game still. -
Rare items shouldn't automatically be the best.
Clumzy (DayZ) replied to colekern's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
How about a storebought katana that breaks on a hit? -
How about some legitimate DayZ jump scares?
Clumzy (DayZ) replied to kasigawa's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think an event would be kind of cool, not exactly like a QTE, but a little like it. Say you're walking, and suddenly, you stop, or trip. You have a couple of seconds to turn around and kill the crawler zombie with your current weapon before he takes a chunk out of your leg and gives you a limp and an infection. Other than that, I think a zombie just steadily making its way towards you out of a dark alley would be scary enough.
