Yeah, you're right! In fact, why add in any other guns? They all fire heated metal projectiles at high velocities to cause damage to their target, exactly like any other gun. So let's just have the makarov pistol and call it a day.

Ran around the Wilderness for a few days, no idea what I was doing. Then, I find myself in Cherno in a server being bombarded by hacking. On the east side, near the garage, I find a hacker box (No idea of what it was at the time) and suddenly became very well-equipped. M4, ghillie, M9SD, even a radio, because I thought it was useful. But, that didn't stop me from going into Cherno anyways. I'm wandering around, near the hospital tents, when someone opens up on me with a handgun. He missed a few shots and ran away (I thought i was the luckiest person in the world, didn't know how much pistols sucked). But I still followed him, he went up a ladder to the roof of a nearby building. I didn't have a microphone back then, so I remember frantically trying to type to him not to turn towards me in side chat, and just giving up and M9'ing him when he wouldn't listen. His friend was pretty perturbed, threatening to kill me in side chat, saying the guy was friendly, so I felt pretty bad. I got my chance to be a good guy when I saw a guy sprinting on the streets shortly afterwards. Being chased by a small horde of zombies, bleeding, he was in pretty bad shape. So I typed to him, and I guided him through the streets to my position on the building, an he escaped the zeds. I bandaged him, gave him my pistol, and we parted ways. Everyone was killed by the hacker shortly after.

I'd rather not, there are a lot of reasons you wouldn't be able to distinguish a person from a set distance, I think a good amount of character customization is the solution and more immersive.
-
I know you have good intentions, but you aren't really in any place to say what zombies 'should' and 'shouldn't' be. Let's remember that they are still living people, infected with a virus, and more importantly, that they are fictional creatures. There is not a set of rules that must be followed.

Slowed down zombies mode. (Possible for SA?)

I think it would be interesting if admins on private servers could change the zombie settings. Fast or slow, headshots needed, amount, infection risk. I like your idea, but there can be more than just these two presets if we are given more options. -
The most detailed Prison topic yet
Clumzy (DayZ) replied to LancerG2's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I like some of the ideas, I would change a few aspects of the loot, though: Flashbangs and teargas, more guns, switch the armour levels of the riot helmet and riot vest, more guns so there is actually a reason to go there. One other thing, though: Nightsticks should not kill in two hits. They're not designed to be lethal. -
I still think that the health system should be entirely revamped, and hitpoints should be done away with. I've read the threads debating gun damage and what people can survive, but I still think it's silly that someone can jog away from 6 handgun rounds in the upper chest, or that you can kill someone just by shooting them in the foot a few times. I'm really glad to see that the health system is being changed, I just hope that the avatars aren't as hard to kill as they are now. Good suggestion, though. :beans:

Civilian Items, Weapons, and Bandages
Clumzy (DayZ) replied to Lightripper's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
And of course, this isn't Russia, so the same rules do not necessarily apply. -
I think I actually saw you in a Red Orchestra server once... it was unexpected. But, I don't understand why this scope view isn't in ArmA 3, there is Picture in Picture when in vehicles.

A Western (Cowboy) DayZ in the future.
Clumzy (DayZ) replied to Stitch Jones's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'd think I'd prefer something even less modern. Think middle ages, or possibly pirates. Something with less of a focus on firearms. -
So this is where it all began...

[SA] - Books, Magazines and Reading Material
Clumzy (DayZ) replied to Draco122's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
All of the books would be written in Russian. -
I was thinking about how loot is spawned in DayZ and how you can so easily find high level loot just by going up north, and how you are pretty much guaranteed food or drink if you walk into a supermarket. Some suggestions have been made such as removing the higher end military weapons or making loot not respawn. These have their flaws, but I think the direction they try to move the game in is appropriate. The apocalypse should be a time of hardship, scarceness, and famine. I've got a couple of ideas for changing the way loot spawns and respawns to create more of an impoverished and desperate aspect to the game. Or, at least high end weaponry to ensure that they are not available for everyone. My idea is to treat weapons the same way as vehicles, so that there are a set number of them that can be spawned on the server that do not respawn until the current one despawns. No matter how much the spawn rate for weapons is decreased, it is still entirely possible to stockpile 10 .50 cal rifles in your camping tent if you are patient, thorough and lucky, with the way things currently are. With the suggested method, the availability of guns can be changed to create a different experience. And the same could be done with all loot. Food doesn't respawn until it is used. This could make it very difficult to come by food, which I think is appropriate for an apocalypse scenario. There would be no source of food, other than hunting. Now, I'm sure my idea is not without its flaws. That's why I urge you to share your thoughts and criticisms here to see if this feature is something that is worth implementation. Thanks for reading.

Yes, but people could just as easily hoard weapons in an actual apocalypse scenario. That doesn't mean more should come out of nowhere.
-
A timer sounds reasonable to me. Not short or anything, but if someone leaves the server for a few months then I think it's fair.
-
Like I said, the loot doesn't spawn somewhere else until it despawns. The server checks player inventories and loot on the map and decides if loot should respawn based on the amount that are allowed to spawn.

I remember hearing something about rivers being hard to add in, because the water level would change with elevation and that's a no-no for some reason. I'm sure someone else could explain it better.

I believe the Russians had a double barrel that was used in WWII, I may be wrong though.

DayZ Suggestions. Please take a look.

You can carry people in vanilla ArmA, but you can't use weapons in the process. In the future, you really should play the game before making suggestions for it. -
cars trucks new map elements and stuff related

The thought of a Huey fitting in the back of a flatbed seems somewhat... Unlikely to me. Maybe let's not do that. -
Not so big on the timer, I don't think you should know exactly when your bone will heal, but other than that it seems like a pretty good suggestion.
-
I doubt you'd be getting service in an apocalypse.
-
I'm pretty sure it's confirmed for the Standalone.
