Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year
beani5003 replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
yeah, and from what I gathered from what i was told, they (or Dean) was planning to get rid of of even the info you get on the Tab menu, could be wrong, And Zeppa, maybe I wasn't clear, what I was getting at was the fact that there are more important items to add to the game than cowboy hats, so why put them in, stuff like that can be added later on -
Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year
beani5003 replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
Not at all, I think Dean is a retard and I'm glad he's leaving, the game has so much potential, but is being side tracked by stuff that doesn't need to be in there (cowboy hats anyone?) and I think the driving force behind most of it is Dean -
Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year

Not surprised about this to be honest, he scored big when DayZ came out on early access, why would he hang around after his bank account is full? I've always thought dean was a bit of a tosser anyway, does not have his priorities straight, goes on extremely long holidays and from my experiences and what I've seen, doesn't listen the community and has some messed up vision of what DayZ should be, where you can't tell if you character is hungry or suffering from blood loss (I read somewhere that he wanted to remove the text from the bottom left corner). I, for one, will not miss him, its a shame we have to put up with him till the end of the year, before some competent game makers (Bohemia) get to take the reigns and DayZ gets back on track -
I've seen this posted a few times, but I thought I'd throw my hat in to see what happens I know the game is in alpha, but I think that the volume of ammunition available is far to high. To solve this, I think that they should add a reloading mechanic i.e they add the following items into the spawn tables:- - cartridge casings of the various calibers. - primers - gunpowder - lead items (wheel weights, fishing line weights etc) - molds - scales - clamp - Manual these should be spawned in in industrial (molds, gunpowder, primers, clamps and cartridge casings) residential (scales) and shops (lead items) Now, as I have done this personally so many times I have lost count, here's how it works. you melt the lead down on a gas stove (I use a cooker, but they have a portable one in game that would work) and then pour the molten lead into the mold, this results in the projectile part of the round. You then have to put the primers into the cartridges, you don't need any special tools to this, I've done it on a flat surface (not recommended). so you now have a cartridge with the primer in it and the projectile, you need to consult the manual to find out how much powder you need, which you can measure out with the scales, and then load into cartridges. You can use a clamp to press the projectile into the cartridge (you can do this, but don't try it at home). this gives the advantage of being able to play with the amount of powder you load into the cartridge, so an overcharged round would travel faster, doing more damage, but would be a lot louder drawing more zombies. You could also undercharge the round, creating sub-sonic ammunition, that would do less damage but also make less noise, drawing less zombies. You could even pair it with a suppressor to make it even less noisy. if finding primers laying around is out of the question, you can even make your own, all you need is matches, an empty can of coke and a paper hole punch. You cut the top and bottom off the can and cut it so you can lay the metal flat. You then you the hole punch to cut out a circle, which you then press into where the primer goes, which makes it into a cup shape. You then cut the material off the top of a match head, and cut it into a fine powder, which you then put into the cupped piece of metal and load it into the cartridge as a normal primer. It sounds unreal, but I have done it myself, and though not the safest way to do it, it would get the round downrange in a pinch. Doing this would make people a lot more cautious or expending ammunition as pre made is a lot rarer and it would take a lot of work to get more.

I have been noticing this more and more lately, the devs are getting . . . strange . . . with what they are putting in the game, the first was painting your gun (really? in the middle of a zombie apocalypse? would you care what your bloody gun LOOKED like?) and now there's bloody COWBOY HATS? REALLY? how many Russians do you know that wear cowboy hats? Now I assume that the team that created the cowboy hat would also be responsible for the artwork/modelling for the painted guns, so my question is, why are you placing valuable resources on such asinine projects such as this? Surely that team would have been better placed to create more authentic weapons (SKS was brilliant) or clothes? Now, to my suggestion, get your priorities sorted, your doing everything back to front. Their are more important things that need to be done than adding bloody cowboy hates and customizing your gun! Oh, and I know its a Alpha, before you start screaming it at me for daring to question anything, i'm not having a go at the devs, not the game itself.
-
i'll call an idiot an idiot no matter who they are, because being able to spray paint your gun PINK is a really practical thing to do when you have zombies running around, or how about being able to where a cowboy hat?
-
camo clothing is a given, but a firearm? I'd rather make sure it works, then once the other guy has been show the inside of his own head, THEN show his how fancy you can make your gun :)
-
I agree completely, but how about this, instead of being able to put paint on your gun, how about being able to rub dirt/mud on your face and hands? aids in camouflaging yourself and blending in with the background., you know stuff that AIDED you in the fact that its a survival game.

Lee enfield ( do you want to see it in game?)
beani5003 replied to Sweendawg's topic in General Discussion
nae, to much like common sense for the devs, the would rather put cowboy hats in, wouldn't be surprised if you got the boots as well in the next patch. -
yes, because putting decent things in game is a 'stupid' suggestion, of course it is.
-
the suggestion is that they get their shit together, if that not a suggestion to you then, my good sir, I don't know what would be
-
good idea, but far to much like common sense for the devs given their recent history, I would definitely be up for it.
-
Agreed, BUT after you have more than half a dozen (exaggeration) items in the game
-
but surely it would take people to create it? even if it is simple as re-skinning something
-
in the games current state it would be like lighting a fuse that would make the current situation worse, it would make the fight for loot and weapons even harder to survive the massive hordes. Slyguy65 is right there aren't enough items in general to start cutting back on anything, put the loot levels back to pre-patch levels, just add new stuff to the tables, the FIX the loot spawning system, THEN you can start dialing down the volume of loot. Like I said the devs are doing everything cock eyed and back to front.
-
its becoming 'nu-COD' because there's fuck all to do once you've kitted up, and with making loot rarer and harder to find, it will only increase the 'you have something I want, I'm going to take it from you' mentality that leads to killings, it does not increase player co-operation or any other such trite ideas. Survival is cut throat at best, at worst its 'butcher you while you sleep for that bottle of water'.
-
It probably has something to do with the strain that Dayz will eventually put on the servers and the bandwidth that it will eat up once they crank up the number of zeds and other things.
-
they shouldn't touch the amount of loot there is in the game, until they have the re spawning of loot working right. They should only add items to the tables while its in its current broken state. Its like putting new windscreen wipers on your car when the windscreen is cracked. It make no logical sense, but considering the patch history, I'm not expecting much, the game most likely will be in the same state at the end of the year, we wont have a solution to combat logging, server hopping, zeds no-clipping etc, but you can garantee that we will have nice shiny mechanics like painting your gun, or be able to dye your clothes or something equally as stupid.
-
In case no one noticed, the developers silently increased zombie numbers in last patch.
beani5003 replied to alleycat's topic in General Discussion
no, that's just the hit-boxes and hand to hand fighting being broken as all hell. and no, they haven't done nothing to stop the zeds no-clipping, its still as bad as always -
it can't be THAT tiresome if you even took the effort to reply then? If your fed up and read the same thing '20 times', why bother even commenting, read it, think 'oh its this again' then click the back button on your browser, simple solution
-
simple solution, join a clan, we are recruiting all the time, give us a shout

yeah, but real life stops some people sitting on the forums all fucking day, just be grateful that their is a constructive member of the community, rather than being childish and giving him shit cause 'poor baby diddums is annoyed'

Crazykage's 6 step survival guied for newbs (how to not get KoSed).
beani5003 replied to crazykage's topic in General Discussion
good info and guide, I find my only current problem is boredom, either it taking a while to get anywhere or nothing to do once your kitted other than kill other players, but hey, lets hope the Dev's get their priorities and shit together and put some end game stuff in at some point, weapons painting FTW! -
Or, how about you guys screaming 'use the search' STFU and stop being ungrateful, the guy went out of he's way to try and inform people of what he found, there is no need to be dicks about it

Hi all, I have been trying for quite a while now to get the, i call, fabled 'healthy' status. Now, I have literally sat next to a well, drinking my fill, and ate until i was full, as well as taking vitamins. I had members of my clan bringing food to me for a few hours, and not once did 'healthy' or any other message pop up. This really needs to stop being so abstract, I understand where Rockets trying to go, I really do, but even if you haven't eaten for 2 days and you donated blood (bad idea btw) you would start to produce new blood (red and white cells, plasma etc). Why do you have to be 'full' to regain blood? I know their is the saline bags and obvious blood bags, but still. I'm not asking for COD level regenerating health, but you should gain blood at (if its still 12000, as in the mod) about 750 - 1000 every 20 min. Does anybody else have trouble getting the 'healthy' status? do you like the current system or would you change it?
