  1. You have none. You did not buy DayZ, you bought the Arma2 bundle. I assume you can still play Arma2...the game you actually own, and have legal rights to. Let's not also forget, in this increasingly messed up society, that you also have Legal Duties, and can be punished, by a ban, for example, if you, or somebody with access to your computer, don't fulfil them.

    Strange happenings in a barn...

Strange happenings in a barn... That's what my cousin said to me a decade ago...of course, nine months later she wasn't so pleased about my "investigation".
  3. Thanks, will definitely give it a try. And don't sell yourself short, there is a lot of creativity, knowledge, love, and hard work contained in your site. Definitely on of the best things in the community, if not the best. I salute you, Sir.
  4. Heroes, whatever that means, run faster then bandits? And who's bright idea was that? I thought the object of the game was for the players to make their own choices on how they play. Oh, wait, this wouldn't be any PG BS so that the standalone can be sold to all age groups, would it? And no, I'm not a bandit...but the constant rewards/punishments for playing a certain way are starting to feel more, and more, like impositions of certain ethic criteria, whatever that means, on players.
  5. What a magnificent idea, and the execution approaches perfection. Wish all journalist has a tenth of you professionalism, integrity, and work ethic. I would like to know, if you're willing to share, the software that was used in the creation of such a clean, and seamless looking website. Thanks for this great addition to the DayZ world. As a veteran tired of this game, it is resources like yours that keep me in touch, interested, and in the community.
  6. Nope, haven't had any problems with it at all. This may probably be because I took the time, before installing it, to read all the available literature on the process, options, and what each of them did. Since I always take a step-by-step approach, to everything I do, can't really point-out why it works for me...it just does. Sorry you are having problems. Try to install it again, reading all that seems relevant, on their site, and in their forums.

What Kind of Player Are YOU?

After 30 minutes, to an hour, depending on your luck, you have obtained everything you need...so I do as Welch does, otherwise it's a useless bore fest. This "game" needs to implement objectives...fast, otherwise after about 30 minutes most people just go on a killing spree. There isn't anything else to do. Explore? I already know the whole map. Airbases? Already have all equipment I require. Visit towns, and barns? Been there done that. So "killing bambis, fucking bitches, and clobbering baby seals", is what we have...until we get killed in a zombie apocalypse. I used to choose elektra, get them all raged, and kill until I ran out of bullets, now, with the new patch, even that has been taken away...no more zombie hoards to kill. This "game" needs objectives, otherwise it will just fade away. Even in survival everybody needs to have a goal in mind...otherwise, what's the use?

    The Notorious Can Incident

Hey, I was born in Churchill, Manitoba...we club baby seals for a living. Is that what all this is about? I for one vote that clubbing baby seals should be included in the SA!!!
  9. Ok, now I'll say it. You never left you're mom's basement, have you? Orientation is easy? What are you, mentally challenged? I'll drop you in the woods of your choice, and add-in a ton of maps, even military cartography maps...let's see how easy you find orientation to be. Hell, I'll even throw in a GPS...and bet you get lost, and starve to death...
  10. I was about to "flame" you, and say that you must have never left your mom's basement, or went camping...blah, blah, blah. Then I took a step back, re-read your post, and realized that you are right, Sir. The Dayz character is so unrealistic that having a built-in GPS chip in tour brain seems perfectly natural. I say get rid of everything...car repair/precise shooting/medicine/ and so on. I mean, it's ridiculous, passed annoying, and just stupid/laughable...does anybody even realise that it is harder, and takes far more training, to fly an helicopter then a commercial airliner? Remove all the nonsense, lunacy, and idiocy, from the game...that's the answer, not add more, and more idiocy.

Game is a challenge again, good patch!

Zombie threat? Are you serious? Have you ever played on a server with more then thirty people, in Elektra, or Cherno? Nobody even notices the zombies are there...what a joke. I'm sorry, and don't take this as a personal arrack, but you are either a prepube, or you are only playing on empty servers. I haven't been killed by Zeds since...can't remember...was I ever killed by Zombies?

is dayz 100% PvP on the long term?

The simple answer to your question is Yes, it's inevitable, probably desirable, and the most realistic scenario. As for your reference to a KoS mentality, it is not totally correct. I, for one, entered the game with no intention of killing (destroying hours of work) anyone. I started to KoS because the first five, yes I was that stupid, "helpless" players I helped, or/and rescued, killed me the first chance they got...after that, I started avoiding other players, and KoS the ones I couldn't. I do revert to helping/saving players, but, like always I am reminded of the price you must pay (being betrayed/killed for your gear). Just yesterday, the 17th, my thirty two dayz old character got killed while saving a "friendly" in Elektra...gave him morphine, blood...then got shot. Not only that, he kept telling the channel, as I re-spawned determined to get back some of my gear, and hunt him down, that I had attempted to kill him!!! The nerve. I proceeded to "suicide/sprint" to the roof of the fire-house, got some of my gear back (knew he couldn't carry it all, and would have to leave at least two weapons), told the channel the truth, warned that I was hunting him down, and would KoS anybody I saw. So yes, it's inevitable. Coming from a military background, my first thoughts on this game where that it was a huge military/sociological/psychological experiment...I see no reason to negate my first impressions. Lately we have been bombarded with "games" that try to predict/study human behaviour in a SHF/martial-law situation...I see Dayz in that category. "They" are pepping-up, hope you, and your loved ones, are too (in the real world, that is). Stay safe!
  13. Yes, slow regeneration is what I was aiming at. Your last sentence strengthens the point I was making: If you "can't work out your blood type", as you rightly said, how in the fuck can you get a transfusion? In order to get a transfusion you must know your blood type, or you die!!! You don't just go into a hospital, pick up random blood-bags, and have your fix...the wrong blood-types would kill, not heal...that's my whole point on blood-bags,they are too unrealistic. My suggestion is to have you spawn already knowing your blood type, randomly generated with your character. That way you will have to rely on somebody with compatible blood to give you a transfusion.
  14. Can you just remove the whole blood-bags thing from the game? I feel it is by far the most unrealistic feature...instead, I would keep food values, give each player a randomly generated blood-group, and only allow blood-transfusions between compatible types (in this case their would be no regeneration, just a sick player getting more blood, and an healthy player loosing some of his blood)...hope that made some sense... I can also envision a new "health-regeneration" product (some food-group, or medication...) that would only spawn once (for a single player) in very high-risk zones...if more then one player approaches the zone no "goodies" spawn ;) - On another note, I would like to see heavy penalties for crawling/crouching/running...not even an Olympic Athlete could accomplish the feats of our character. Also have a "doping" system (with rare medication) in a high-gain/high-loose/high-risk scenario...a player could, for instance run for an hour (using drugs), but would loose in all health-related stats very fast (thirst/hunger/blood), he would also risk fainting, and addiction ;) Keep up the great work, and remember family/friends first, work will get done when it gets done...
  15. Nice photo, just a pity they have those new buildings, instead of a creepy town with an old Mansion. Is this near Nantes?
