Don't get a 690 when the 7970 is much better when overclocked. No i9, i5 and i7.

Upgrade to i5 3470. The Haswell CPU's won't use the same socket, so you're better off with Ivy Bridge. (BTW there will NOT be an i9. That just isn't how it works. [EDIT] I wouldn't overclock because your motherboard might not even support it. Your GPU should be fine until 8xxx.
