I thought a military flashlight is just a red flashlight? Also an actual upgrade would be a G17 or remington (both are weapons with a flashlight attached). -

Rocket is going for realism with this. Rocket also uses the "I make this the way I enjoy it. Nobody is forcing you to play it." mentality, so deal with it. -
Like... seriously... no. Just, no. All tin cans/whiskey bottles can be thrown. Tin cans will distract zombies, kill zombies in 4 hits, and blind players (players will also look up and down really fast for a while, when hit with a can).

1: Up to 300 metres, this is accurate. 2: These are mildots, they each indicate 100 metres. So at a distance of 400 metres, aim using the mildot directly under the crosshair. 3: The top of this black bar is actually another mildot, of sorts. Use that for 800 metres. Specific: The DMR scope is zeroed at 300 metres. This means you aim lower than the rifle's actual bullet trajectory. At a distance under 300 metres, the bullet will hit slightly above the crosshair. At 300 metres, it's spot-on. At distances larger than 300 metres, the bullet will hit below the crosshair, until, eventually, it hits spot on with the first mildot at 400 metres. From there on, down to the second mildot at 500 metres, etc. Finally, at 800 metres, bullets will land at the top of the wide, black bar below all the mildots.

Pre-1.7.1, I always dropped all my spawn items (backpack too). If it was night I'd just keep flares. I still do the same, tho I keep the flashlight if it's night. You should do it too. Even if you spawn with nothing in a later update it'll be all the same. -
Zombies spawning in buildings...kind of makes stealth pointless now..

Zombies are pretty much blind, and your steps+visibility are severely nerfed indoors. You can literally walk around straight-up, indoors, right next to a zombie. It won't see you as long as you're behind it. -

Still not as sad as being killed while desynced. - Guy is stalking you, you don't know it. - Desync happens. On your end, you're still happily looting a town. Server-side, you're standing still. - Guy shoots your 'desync ghost'. - Server registers the gunshots as fatal wounds to you. - Connection re-established, you die. No way of seeing it coming, no way to retaliate, nothing. Just like that, you die. -
As a new player, This mod is so difficult its un-playable.

Actually the new bandit system lets you separate the honest survivors from the bandits. Look at someone and your heart beats if their humanity is negative. -
...Play at nighttime. I'm not joking in any way, just try it; compare the HUD eye at day and night time. Day: At least 3 bars no matter what. Night: 0 bars, 1 if you have a torch on, 2 if you are on a road with a torch on. To top it off, zombies prioritize chasing flares and chemlights, so when in trouble, just chuck a flare at your feet and run off.

It adds tons of tension, promotes teamwork, and no reason to kill new spawns for a bandage, painkillers and torch. -
I like it a lot. I just wonder tho, does the makarov actually spawn as loot, or is it turning into an antiquity?

How I Eluded a Zombie Horde With No Gun

I had a huge group of zombies chasing me and I ran into a large building (the one that has ladders and catwalks inside). I backed into a corner and threw a flare up to one of the top catwalks. The zombies somehow lost interest in me and went after the flare. One by one, the zombies would climb up a ladder and sprint off the catwalk they'd climbed up to, falling to their death. -
Direct chat would only allow you to use your microphone (nobody would see text regardless of distance). To compensate for that, the global/side/command channels were left in. Now, direct works both with microphones and text, so the server-wide channels have been disabled. Also for various reasons, players now spawn with: - 1 box of painkillers - 1 bandage - Coyote patrol pack - Torch (in backpack) The torch is toggled on/off with the L key by default.

No. - Stars - Moon - Eyes adjusting to darkness I loved the way it worked without the beta patch, with HDR at very high. I was able to see perfectly fine outside on wide open fields, but I could barely see in forests and indoors. -
I'm wondering about group chat. Who sees group chat? I've been on a couple of servers since 1.7.1 and they only have group/vehicle/direct channels, and it seems nobody receives group chat (I don't see any chat).

The following can fix it: - turn off windows cleartype. - If you're using an ATI GPU, disable catalyst AI.

I have started using the six updater, and installed @DayZ, @CBA, @CBA_A2, @CBA_OA, and expansion/beta, all under the "Day Z" preset. I have completed all possible options (install, update, verify/repair, process BIkeys, process userconfigs). Now upon running the game, all mods from that preset show up in the main menu (@dayz, @CBA, @CBA_A2, @CBA_OA, beta). When trying to find servers, I see the following: I can join and actually play on servers with a yellow dot on the left. All the servers with a red dot (about 95% of all servers) give me the following error: Any help? I'm thinking the issue lies with the fact that six updater launches the game without steam. If 'linking' SU with steam would fix this issue, how do I do that?
