again, the #1 improvement for most people would be taking there i3/i5 over 4.0ghz and you will see some amazing fps increases. so simple to do with a cheap all in 1 water cooler for $50 but only if you have a reasonable gfx car, like gtx 460, 560+

that gfx card is holding you back your i7 is fine. if you wanted to play on high with excellent fps, you would need to overclock to 4.0ghz + (with water cooling) and change that video card I think the gt 530 is so poor you wont be playable on high with anything over 15-20 fps.

ya man those pre i7 chips are freakin awesome considering. i took my first gen i7 930 from 2.8 to 4.5 ghz and it is a power house and super stable (with water of course) it took my FPS up +20 at a minimum. if my work pc q9550, wasnt a work pc, id be OCing that in a flash. cpu is definitely the key for dayz. basically anyone with 3.5ghz+ and a gtx 460+ can run dayz pretty well. even laptops. i swear there should just be a stickie forum that has 3 check boxes, when ever someone needs to know if I CAN RUN IT [] over 3ghz? my other work computer runs very well on medium 25-35 fps with an evga gtx 460 oc edition its only an q9550 quad @ 2.83 ghz. 8gb ram youll be fine, but an upgrade to a gtx 570 or higher will help out. I got a 570 for my main gaming pc for dirt cheap on another note, I have an i7 laptop with gtx 460 that runs dayz way better than this q9550 so overclock you CPU to 4.0+ ghz and you should see a huge difference too

im running a system like this at work (same specs, the card is a HIS low profile version, cant remember model, think its a 7750) im only getting 10-20 fps at max the CPU is the real trouble there...overvlock overclock yes i play dayz at work hahaha

you know what gets me? how come some people are so good at spotting players? this is the hardest thing for me when raiding the coast. I cant see shit, maybe cause im using an hdtv instead of being 6" from a monitor. Some of those youtubers can see the smallest little thing, and when your lone wolf its over by then... but ya, just stay on the tree lines. Always have your back to some cover, so you only have to worry about one direction (when possible) stay crouched, stay quiet, use binos, dont bother with zombies

dude definitely buy the arma 2 version...it offers soooo much for $25. there are several amazing mods, which eventually you can take your experience further than dayz vanilla. honestly i didnt jump in to dayz till early 2013 and it is still a game I play almost daily (even at work) in one mod form or another... I have yet to play any game that has given me so much for my money (arma 2 that is...) arma 2 on its own is the tits for $25

"official dayz server" is not neccissarily that... look for similar hosts, like BMRF epoch, there may be 3 servers from them. probably linked. but "BMRF Epoch server #1" and "EPOCH 1000000 cars PVP server" are not linked. use your noggin

dude go buy arma 2 and you will thank us... its what $20 nowadays? mod is free... fun factor is worth $$$$ then you will understand dayz, before jumping in to SA ... which isnt being released anytime soon. or think about arma 3, get breaking point mod (best dayz for arma 3 by far...prob better than standalone too) or wasteland, or altas life, etc

welcome pretty awesome to find such weapons, its a great feeling in the beginning. find a map and do some proper wayfinding. get to a grocery store or the large pink house. soon enough you will be happy as shit with a lee enfield! enjoy

i think the server timer idea should be an immediate hotfix... it really is nice to choose your spawns, so you dont spawn kamenka 10x in a row. but the ability for fawkers to respawn in same location they died just to reloot the body, get insta revenge, etc is totally retarded. not realistic at all. put in the damn timer!

Cosmic, your at about 30 fps 20 fps in lag areas. I would get a $50 watercooler and overclock your CPU to 4ghz easily and safely. then you will see some amazing increases. but realistically 20-30 fps isnt the end of the world. Dom, those laptops will barely run the game, i would NOT waste that much cash on those rigs. I bought my asus g73 (3ghz, real GTX 460, top notch gaming laptop) for $600 canadian (thats like 400 quid) on a local trading site (kijiji). try ebay. for that amount of cash, you should be able to get an i7 with a real video card laptop. shoot for i7, gtx 460 or higher, 2.8 ghz minimum. ideal setup for dayz arma 2 and arma 3 is 4.0 ghz+ gtx 560+ geez for 500 quid im sure you can get an i7 laptop at bestbuy or futureshop no? CPU is the real killer here i was running gtx 570 with 2.8 ghz, max 35 fps. then overclocked to 4.2 ghz and I dont see anything less than 45-50 fps with dayz vanilla.

processor is bare minimum, gfx which card do you have? maybe low settings when optimized.

isnt there a limit or a timer, so you can not respawn in the same spot? or at least I thought I read something like that, sounding like it is not working as i imagined.

considering the realism wanted in dayz, id like to see it done right. like RN said, that logic would work in game. arma 3 mods (BP and others) have a great system for interchangable mags and they differentiate between the 9x19 and 9x18 well. on another note, i would love to have rim fire in the game...would be hillarious! some assassins still use rim fire because the velocity is so low, it penetrates the body at close distance and doesnt exit. resulting in a very messy internal injury. a ruger 10/22 ingame would be hillarious, and some really basic rimfire pistols. shit range, shit damage, but more common than a makarov. tons of available ammo too. should be in almost every barn even

definitely need non or less than lethal. i love the idea of SA handcuffs and robbing people, fun fun. try arma 3 altis life and arma 3 breaking point (which is now open for testing hint hint) very very well done mods id love to see some in arma 2 dayz, 1.8 is such a good update, hopefully next big patch we can see soemthing. there is still a certain feel about arma 2 dayz that i just cant get from arma 3 mods. hopefully SA will keep that alive.

lets not forget dayzero...cherno. (most dont like podagorsk) that mod is so well done its such a pleasure to play. simple, nothing crazy added, loot spawning in realistic places, way way more enterable places, etc. not to mention the 100 fps most med-high rigs get.
