  1. going to bump here as well as on tuungle... That being said, I believe people are missing what I need. Tuungle to my knowledge is all about setting up a private server with tuungle or some hamachi-type program. Not to mention the fact that these walkthroughs are all about having access to a gui to be able to set up a server. As I said, I need to know if I should contact artofwar for information on how to remote desktop in (to do it this way), or if there is some other way to install the hive files needed.
  2. Still looking for help. Please read the post thoroughly.
  3. for example I would like to follow this installation guide: https://github.com/ayan4m1/DayZ-Private However, I again have the problem of not seeing a windows screen to install mysql or perl on the server.
  4. I don't believe you saw what I said. I have no means of seeing a GUI like a remote desktop, so i can't run these programs like navicat or mysql. Besides, the last post on that thread was in november, AND the topic was last updated in June. So it appears to me that the link you provided is an old way of doing things. Remember, this server is just like any other dedicated one out there. We should be able to install 1.7.4.4 on this server just like the 40 slot ones do. I just simply need directions on how to do this, and if I actually need to contact a technician to give me some sort of remote desktop access to get this done. Thanks again for anyone who is willing to help out. Jon
  5. My friend bought an artofwar 8 slot server that had arma 2 combined operations installed on it. My friend then proceeded to the "mod page", which had a button to install dayz. He did this, but obviously this isn't enough to get a server going. The following is posted in the instructions box underneath the mod: "This will install the default DayZ mod and the latest beta patch. It's updated daily with fresh files. The hive and other files must be manually installed. Ask a tech." My friend did ask a tech, but this is his response: "DayZ mod needs what is called a hive database to work. In order to use the official dayzmod.com services, your server would have to be 40 player slots *or* more. For servers under that, it''s understood that you would be providing your own custom hive database. There are several out there for people who don''t want to run an official dayz server and instead run one with a private database." I don't know if I am going to need a remote desktop connection to get this to work, but all I know so far is that I can see the files that are on the server through the web browser and that is it. I can upload and delete files, but no way to remote connect to the windows server. I just need help finding a guide on how to install this "custom hive database" and then we will be good to go.
