If your characters decides to vault or lunge ahead when trying to grab a ladder, simply turn around and your character will vault onto the roof. I've NEVER died in a ladder while using this trick. Without the trick is a different story tho :P However, I haven't had an issue with the ladders since the last patch. They work quite fine for me, and the character doesn't vault/lunge around anymore. -

I too experienced this! I ate 4 cans of food and drank from a waterpump. Rougly 10-15 minutes later I was starving. Probably just bugged out, because on my second life, I ran to cherno with barely any food and survived. -

Your computer is fine. DayZ is just not optimized properly, and the Arma-engine generally suck at keeping good frames. You'll just have to wait. For some reasons, Dayz seems to like the intel processors better tho. Upgrading to a SSD won't boost your fps, but it will increase loading times, and in general make your computer lightning fast compared to the old harddrives. I HIGLY recommend an SSD for your system. -
Flashlight? Headtorch? Weapon flashlight? Pistol flashlight? All of the above? I dunno. I see crisp as shit when I light it up.

Get used to it. The ladders got a lot better with the last patch tho. At least we no longer break our legs while opening doors, as we did in the mod.
