No way can they get the alpha out, do all the testing they may want to do, fix whatever needs fixing and release within a month. With Rocket leaving in six weeks, I wouldn't expect DayZ out till May at the least, maybe even June if not later.

If you are so hung up on the realism of the weapons lying around, did you happen to notice that some military zombies are in MARPAT/Coyote Brown gear? Typically found on US Marines? Why are they there i hear you ask? Maybe they were cooperating with the local military in trying to stop the infection, maybe help with the evacuation.. The only problem i see with weapons is there could be more of them to balance out the eastern/western gear. Where are all the PKM, SVD, SV98 to name a few..

If they choose to ever make a new map for this id love a massive city with its surrounding suburbs inlcuded. Say New York, London, Paris, Berlin.. anything bigger than a few blocks would be awsome (tho probably quite impossible from a performance standpoint)

What about the zombie AI? Has any work/progress been made in that area? Has anything been done to actually make them a valid threat instead of a minor nuisance? Or are they basically the same with less soldier AI? How will they behave in regards to enviormental obstacles (can also read: do bushes and fir trees still stop them)? What about closing a door/gate? Do they still slow down inside buildings?

They finally got it right with dayz+, what do you think? (POLL)
tarr replied to thelonewarrior's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I comlpetley agree with you, this is how DayZ should look like. Perhaps if the arma base game was not so damn clunky/clumsy id prefer the zombies to be even more of a challenge than they are now in DayZ+. It's actually not a pvp game, pvp is just a means to survival, the actuall point of the game. A point many beanwarriors seem to have missed. It is on Commander, cant check right now but i think it was the top item on the list of available addons for me, listed as DayZ+? -

What we will get will be an alpha version of the game, if you seriously expect little or no bugs then you will be dissappointed, no matter the development time. Hell some AAA titles are nigh unplayable at their actual release and you expect a bug free alpha? From Bohemia at that? And in my opinion its the lack of people who question everything and overabundance of fanboys that is ruining the gaming industry. @RooBurger you dont need to quote me because you have nothing to quote. I never demanded anything. But i was expecting what was actually offered by Rocket himself. Instead we got updates of how he was feeling. -

Hahaha you cant actually quote me on it so you are going to stomp your feet on the ground and insist i am demanding something? Get over it and your fanatic fan attitude, I am not pleased with how Rocket is dealing with these things and have just as much right to show it as you have a right to chant "Rocket is my savior, i must worship the ground he walks on" -

Can you use your superior quoting skills to show me where in my posts i am actually demanding something? Where i actually want anything more than what Rocket said he would give us? -

See, when DayZ was a mod, it was free. It was and still is buggy, ridden with hackers but i have played it for months now never complaining or bothering to post here or anywhere. Because it was FREE DayZ SA will not be free, it will cost whatever they end up asking for it. And if i want to play it (and i do) i will pay for it. And how much money have you given to Rocket? -

@RooBurger, its funny how things sound different when taken ouf of context dont they? "We are working on it and are looking forwad to it" are not updates.. its stating the obvious. Rocket ows people what he promised. Which is actual game updates, not catchphrases like "its looking good". When you promise something to someone do you not consider it an obilgation to fulfill that promise? Or do you just go back on your word because you dont owe it to anyone? And no. He does not have the same luxury to say its done when its done as Valve or Blizz. They are accomplished developers, Rocket made a popular mod. No one mistakes Half Life with Hello Kitty island adventure - alot of people however did mistake warz for dayz. And i believe Rocket going quiet made things worse for dayz, giving it loads of bad rep on account of that rip off of a game. Instead of actually distancing Dayz from it he just went quiet and waited for it to go away. @Diemaco, again taking things out of context with selective quoting. Read the paragraph again. Yes Rocket is a human beeing, yes it is understood he cant do everything. But he should have realised it, put someone else in charge of PR, someone who was not going to go underground for a month because he has a tummy ache from worries and instead focus on what does know - making DayZ. -

I have a short temper and a low BS tolerance treshold and im not above it to admit it. I will not lower myself to slinging around insults but some of you need a reality check. Comparing Rocket to Gabe? Rocket is a mod designer whos idea got picked up and is given a chance to make an actual game of it. Gabe has multiple titles that have sold millions of copies uder his belt. The point beeing - Blizz, Valve and the like can afford to say "when its ready".. They are allready known for beeing able to deliver on most of their promises. Rocket here does not have the luxury to do so. He has not proven anything but his enthusiasm in making a game no one tried to make yet (atleast not in this shape or form, there have been zombie survival games before this). What about the mod i hear you say? Well its a great proof of concept. But as it stands its still buggy, hacker infested, full of abusive private server owners. Not all that great as some set it out to be. And to add.. none of us "whiny bitch kids" or trolls or whatever you want to call us demand anything but what was promised. I DO NOT NEED A RELEASE DATE.. i have the patience to wait for the game, however - i do want an update on the actual game instead of Rockets personal status. I am here for the game not Rocket, i dont care how he is, if he was not able to stand the pressures of what this SA has brought him he could have done the right thing, hire a PR guy, let him deal with handing out info as it is ready to be handed out. As the mods keep kindly reminding me, i have stated this several times now, and still there are people trying to insult and beat down anyone not going with the flow and praising Rocket on his return while a week ago still they were all in the now locked standalone discussion thread yelping for an update. He abandoned the comunity, comes back with a "i dont feel like getting into it" and its all good now? -

It's just he still didnt. This is teasing people, its not a game update, its a facebook style status update. -

Let me get this straight. Forums are for discussions. I posted my views on this "announcment", i get called out on it and i am to sit back, relax and leave it be because everyone else would rather have a 90 page topic of " we love you rocket, thank you for the update" type of comments. Because that is what we need here, moral support for the guy getting paid to not do what he was supposed to - which is post an actual game update, weeks ago. And yes i feel he was supposed to do that, he took it upon himself to keep us in the loop, with that he "took the job". Why not just close the topic. Or better yet, just shut down the forum, replace it with a facebook type page where Rocket can drop a piece of info if he feels up to it and instead of a comment box just put up a big huge "Like, thumbs up" button. Would save all the hassle of moderating asshats like me who dare point out that the first contact with the games "daddy" and main PR guy is more of a personal status update than anything else. This is a forum, forums are for discussions, i will defend my point of view if it is challenged. -

So we "haters, trash, trolls and attention seekers" are supposed to shut up "before we loose our integrity" while the mods and the rest bash on us? Im glad you are all happy with this: But me personally rather see Rocket stay quiet then to give us this. -

What attitude? Its letters on a forum. The only problem here is im not going with the flow of praise towards Rocket. I for one feel that this PR nightmare of his could have been handled way better than it was. What else is problematic? That i could not care less about Rocket and his personal feelings? Im not here for celebs, im here to get info on the game. Is it too much to expect actual info on that instead of a post in the shape of "im on an airport nao" I do agree with you on one point - things change. Dayz changed from beeing an amateur mod to an actual payable game. With that the attitude towards it needs to change, things need to take more serously and situations like this PR thing should not happen. -

Really? Deleting posts? I was told to shut up and i was about to drop it.. Now what? Are you going to start banning people for saying things you dont want to hear? This is the latest announcment thread, the points i was babbling about were that the "announcmet" given is not enough or barely relevant to the game. Problem? I guess it is a problem since all you want here is back patting and praise singing to Rocket. -

Way to take things out of the context.. care to read that paragraph again? Here you go: What i would like is him doing his job and keeping his word on updates, release info on the product, stuff that every other developer out there is doing for their own game. If all this has proven too much for him to do on his own- hire a PR guy to do it for you. Instead he just closed himself off and stopped posting all together.. and who else was doing these updates if not him? And on the release date - quoting rockets "it has to be done by december" - i would call that a release date. He is the lead designer, The game is his baby. If he drops something like that it will and has been undersood as a release date. And with that we are back to the previous point - a PR guy would not let something like that slip and cause people to think of it as a release date. And @Boneboys: Yes i have and still do play the DayZ mod. I realise the amount of work and the importance of it for the entire gaming community. However I fail to understand what that has to do with anything here? The source of frustration is how poorly the PR around DayZ SA was and is beeing handled. Dayz SA is now a real game. Made to make money. Rocket no longer matters, his personal life no longer matters. Call me a bad person for stating that but i really do not need to know how he's doing, my interest is in what he is (or will be) selling, all i need to know about him or his company is where to leave the money for his product. Not his feelings or accomplishments for the gaming comunity. -

Im pritty sure im not k3lt. I am also pritty sure that it was an extremley bad move on Rockets part to not distance himself from the fanbase and instead obviously taking on too much responsibility with trying to keep us all up to date on his project. He should have left the PR work to someone who knows PR and instead focus on the SA. With the way this played out (or still is) all he got is lot of bad rep. As i said - DayZ is now a real game in the making by a proffesional company. It should be handeled as such, if that meant Rocket taking a step back from his fanbase and letting someone else in on the PR department things would of been different. Flame away, call me all the names you wish but as long as DayZ was a mod i wouldnt care for these kinds of brakedowns in comms, but as i am going to be paying for something i expect some degree of proffesionality about it. Dont we all? -

See thing is (atleast in my eyes) alot of people dont or shouldnt give a rat's ass about rocket personally. He is in a business now, the business is selling his game. We are the customers, most if not all of us here will eventually be throwing money his way, alot of money. I dont need to know how his vacation went, how stressed he is or what's been going on with his personal life - because its just that - his personal life. And any and all issues he was having will be more than repaid once the profits start raining on him. What i would like is him doing his job and keeping his word on updates, release info on the product, stuff that every other developer out there is doing for their own game. If all this has proven too much for him to do on his own- hire a PR guy to do it for you. But it has to be done else your business start to suffer. Im sure im not the only one who is slowly starting to loose interest. Also who cares when i joined, ive been reading the forum for months now - im just annoyed enough to post for the first time now. Flame me all you want i just feel this has to be said especially with all this sucking up going on. -

Are you people seriously satisfied with that?! A complete brakedown of communication after promised updates, missing the 'it has to be done by then' release, complete silence for all this time and what we get is basically a whiny "hi guise im still here and were working on it, oh btw sorry for the silence oops my bad cant bother to explain lets not dwell"? How about some actual solid info on the game instead of how hard its been personally (i can sympathise, all jobs can get stressful but we have heard this before)? How bout a projected release date? A realistic one this time? Atleast a status update of the game.. something more than "its going good, were working on it" After a wait this long i think just a 'sorry my bad' and a vague post with zero info just doesnt cut it, no matter who may feel insulted by this.
