Hop onto Steam and find out for yourself ;)

May i just ask why you are so hung up on admin tools Dgessio? Especially the live player tracking? Bad experience or something?
-
i5-4760k, GTX 760 twinfrzr, 8 gigabyte of ram and an Asus P67(?) Motherboard. Arma 3 runs between 35-60 fps on singleplayer, multiplayer, missions that I host or missions that I play with a friend who is 10,000 km away. For a PC like that the performance you are listing is pathetic. There are many other titles that look better, more demandind on hardware yet still run better. Poor optimisation is the BI way. Its up to the individual to decide if they can live with that.
-
I get your last point, but that was not their intention when that first release was talked about. Also to me its the same game as it was. Slightly upped graphics and some engine changes dont make it a different game, the mechanics look much the same to me apart from some added fluff.. Would you say DNF was 7 different projects since they went through so many different engines?
-
It was not a different project, it was dayz, just because they decided to do it differently doesnt change the fact that that was their release goal. And the reason why they did what they did was because warz beat them to it and ran face first into a brick wall. If they would release dayz as it was back then it would probably suffer the same fate.. If you think it was done purely for the better of the game you are lying to yourself. Tho i guess if you lie to yourself long enough you start to believe it.

@AnarchyBrownies, id say criticism is just as constructive as legitimate concerns, while brown nosing in countless posts of the "way to go buddy" category add nothing to the discussion. And if you took my posts as angry and hostile then what the hell would you call the ones made by Salamnder for example? I also never said i dislike the game, despite the many poor decisions, small and big. An example of a small one would be the model of the compass for example. Why not go with something a little more common than a rusty antique looking thing? Or an example of the huge variety - why the hell are they just now hiring a sound guy when there should have been one on the team for atleast six months already? Why is everything people are complaining about lately a 'placeholder'? Models and graphical design has nothing to do with coding of the engine so what were they doing for a year? Painting helmet models?
-
I dont hate the game (even tho its taken some seriously lousy design calls), what i do despise tho is blind fanboyism such as SalamanderAnders, throwing around insults the moment someone dares to type down something negative about the game or its designer. And since you my friend are such an expert on game dev let me show how i, the pleb, see the implementation of everything you listed as huge changes. Inventory waa there before, drag and drop and some new graphics for it are nothing special Clothing system came from arma3, weapon attachments aswell. Zombie pathing should be one of the primary concernes and its only beeing looked now, supposed weeks before release. Stability and bugkilling is the only thing that should have been happening at this point, not additions to the core of the game. The map was 225sq kilometers in arma too, so what? Does not change the fact that all that was really done with the buildings was to add interiors and repopulate the map with the new models. Lots of work - yes for sure, a years worth of it, not really if the project would have been managed differently. It should not be an alpha at this point, thats all im saying. Now go on, continue with calling everyone who disagrees with you 'idiots', 'assholes' and whater other colourful name you chose for people who dont write posts like "we love you rocket, youre my hero, take all the time in the world to release an unfinished product and call it an alpher when it inevitably goes wrong"
-
Dat fanboy rage.. Allow me to add some fuel to the fire since you are all so open to criticism. The way i see it the release window in which DayZ would achieve a good results on the market is closing - the longer they take the less their progress on the game matters. It took them a year to change around some code and make a dozen or so interiors for buildings. Most of the graphical improvements have been pulled from arma3 and adapted to work. For the amount of work yes, a year is a long time period. A year is not alot of time for a full game that is built from the ground up, but they started with not one but three game engines to bodge together, the map just needed a touch up to fit in the theme.. and after a year they are strugling to drop out an alpha version of it.. And if you people seriously think BI does not care about the financial aspect of this project you are clearly blinded by your man crush on a random member of a development team who happened to have a decent idea. Rage on guys, maybe you will get special bike helmets once the game is out, as a little thank you gift from your precious rocket.

DayZ Developer Blog 15th April Highest one ever
tarr replied to mattlightfoot's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Am I the only one not seeing anything new here? Things like the following quotes have been stated several times before: "moving DayZ into a server-client architecture, turing the entire architecture of DayZ into an MMO" "working on our Radio implementation" "working their way through the animation backlog" "creating the interior data required for the AI zombies to pathfind correctly inside buildings" . . What is the actual point in writing these devblogs if you have nothing new to say? -
DayZ Alpha won't launch until launched !

Who would have thought, Rockets first target release date is going to be met after all. He only said december, didn't mention what year.. -
Mate, you should untie your shoes if you intend to crawl up peoples ass that much..
-
To all of you talking of a rushed game, please, explain to me how it would be rushed even if it releases tommorow? It will be in alpha, while functional it will be nowhere near a complete or bug free experience. It will be in development for the next year or so still before its "official" release. So how is beeing given a buggy test item (which this will be no matter what, it is an alpha after all) rushed?

They did not go .308.. The M24A1 is 7.62, The M24A2 is in .300 Win Mag and the M24A3 is in 338 lapua.. The .308 is NOT in use with the US armed forces, it is a hunting rifle round.
-
Oh types of arrows, how about dipped in poop? For an extra infectious effect :)
-
Im sorry but the 30.06 isnt in use anymore, it was replaced by the 7.62 round. Also the USMC does not use the M24, only the ARMY does. USMC has the M40A4/5 as their sniper rifle, which is basically a M700 in a McMillan stock, also - this is way off topic :) Edit: just to make it clear, both the M24 and the M40 use 7.62 rounds, 308 aswell as 30.06 are slightly different and neither is in use in modern military firearms.
