My two issues with the masks are I have lived short lives on the coast and found more payday masks than I found food items. That's just stupid balancing that needs tweaked a bit. That and I would have liked to see much more variety of things that matter in the game before they wasted time on something like that. Its obvious that someone on the dev team has some talent modelling or at least skinning and it would be a lot cooler even to just find more than black and tan gloves everywhere before these masks. Chernarus seems like a place that would love a Walmart so where are the hot pink stretch pants in size 5XL? They definitely needed more variety in the types of people are trying to find. There's a ton in there already so now that they've got the silly shit out of the way we might find some cool clothing skins later on. I would much prefer if they decide to keep the number of masks the same that they add more skins in after full release when everything else is finished and not every one of them needs to be over the top clown stupid looking.

dat crying about the same thing in a dozen posts a day tho... I found a pretty cool yellow box that takes up four slots in a backpack but has room for six slots. Said it was military spec waterproof and crush proof to store things in. Barely lived through a firefight with two guys and most of my gear got wrecked. The box said damaged but everything inside was still pristine.

If you were anyway near Balota you had no reason to kill anyone for a drink. Definitely a lazy murder. Sadly people don't know how to use water pumps located in every town on the map. I played the mod for over a year and still took a couple days to figure out the drink situation. They really need to let you know little things like that on your first spawn. Like a message that says you will be dead in an hour if you don't find water. Good luck! I bitched about this gaming sucking ass for the first few days as I didn't realize you spawned in almost dehydrated and had to hit the water pumps first thing if you wanted to survive more than an hour.

The closest they have got so far is a creepy ass looking horse skin that someone made for the dirtbike. Was one of the funniest things I've ever seen watching that beast bounce down a mountain. It definitely would be logical to find them in a place like Chernarus. While most of the better tempered ones would likely die trying to approach zombies for food there would definitely be horse farms with a few running around. You wouldn't need a saddle either. Just some rope to make a bridle.

I think because they made it rare people have assumed that it doesn't exist but they did say it was in the last patch. Sometimes they mess that up, though, so who knows.

Good luck man! I was listening to a couple guys talk in direct chat about what spacebar does when holding an axe. One guy says 'I think its a salute or something' and other guy says 'that's pretty stupid'. You may need them to give you blood then use a defibrilator but I'm not sure if those work yet. Haven't been in a situation where I could try them out yet. I have tried force feeding a knocked out friend and giving them an iv but neither one woke them up.

At some point they will activate the recipes on a bunch of stuff. One will be a fireplace so you'll probably need several rocks, sticks and matches to get it going. Don't know if you will need both sticks to get it going and split logs to keep it going but have seen both so far in game. It seems like they are working hard towards making it so you need a friend for most things in the game. Otherwise you won't be able to carry enough for a lot of the things they are adding. That would be pretty amazing to log in one day and see the western forests of Chernarus engulfed in flames because someone didn't use the rocks to contain their campfire.

If you have a map you can also click on the players tab and see what people's latency is if you wanted that info for some reason.

His death was deserved. People like to think they can be asshats because there isn't a central authority figure in the game. No police to come arrest them if they kill and steal. No one watching to let them know its wrong to be a greedy asshole. That's why we make our own morality. I watched I guy run up to a fresh spawn and punched him to death. I chased that guy down and axed him in the face. The whole time I'm coming in he's screaming "I'm a fresh spawn! WTF is your problem?". I hit him once and whispered "I saw what you did" before my final chop ended him. Lately, since I've already scoured the map for all the cool additions, I've been entirely looting buildings and putting everything in a pile by the front door. I've since moved down to the coast helping people out. I let them know I will shoot them if they get too close but will leave some food or drink on the ground for them. That first part of getting off of the coast is the hardest. I died six or seven times just trying to figure out why all the buildings were empty of loot.

The other part of buying it now, on top of the lower price you'll get buying it early, is the chance to roam the map and see all the cool additions they put in. I've had random smiles crossing a hill I've crossed a hundred times and seeing the top of a new building that was never their before. Those were my favorite memories from the mod: discovering new things. Now its like Christmas every day. Except if you go to the extreme North. They haven't put in all the buildings they intended to so there not much up there atm except a few barns and a water pump here and there. I think in two hours of crossing that area I found one wrench, one shirt and a hatchet.

Fruit doesn't rot unless it takes days. I've had a Pristine Orange and Pristine Banana on my guy for the last two days and they are the same. At the very least you have some time on fruit. For the others its best to just eat the whole thing when you open it.

The mod turned into a kos game because there wasn't anything else to do and the zombies were a joke. At this point in the Alpha's development there is even less to do, (nothing to barricade a building, no vehicles etc), and there are reduced zombie numbers. People will kos because they are assholes and there's nothing else to do. There really isn't any other reason to kill someone who just spawned. Give it some time for the game to get closer where it intends to be and it will slow down. It will never stop, though, because douche bags are free to play the game the way they want same as you. First things first you need to keep looking for friends to play with as a group. When I started running four deep no one bothered us. Was just thinking that they need to implement a radio system, stat. Being able to broadcast where people are killing fresh spawns so that bandit hunters like myself can hunt them down would cause them to go north where the real pvp action should be.

I have a pretty decent pc and haven't seen any fps drops at all with everything turned as high as it will go. I've only played on servers with 10-20 people so I can't say what it would do if twenty people were in Cherno when I ran through. I'm also curious what exactly causes it for most people because its definitely not the geometry. I built an absurd map for Arma3 using L3DT and had close to 400 buildings all in the same place with not much drop in FPS. When I loaded a modified Dayz mod on it my client would auto crash. That tells me its either loot spawns or zombies/other players. Since there aren't a whole lot of zombies in the game right now it might just be loot updates that are dragging you down. You might not be rendering them but it may be loading the items into memory so that it doesn't have to spam your client with updates for 2500 items a second. If nothing else, have you tried lowering the textures down really low to see if that helps your fps?

They have specifically lowered the number of zombies so they could test server load. That might mean a dozen total in Elektro. I think I read that once they are killed they don't respawn until the server restarts right now. I also read that they intend on making it so that they will respawn slowly but if you kill all the zombies in a certain area they will stop respawning for a while so you can defend that area.

I generally keep mine at 3/4 too. I can run full fine but I don't like the feel of it.

The red chain is desync so you might have gotten attacked or fell off a cliff during the time it wasn't getting messages. If you logged off fine on your screen but unconscious as far as the server is concerned it automatically kills you. Off topic but I used to work in Dayton, Ohio and was curious if they ever fixed 75? Seemed like they were working on that road for a decade. Not much better now in Cincinnati, though.

The SA only takes a couple punches to the head before it knocks you out. That's fairly realistic and a decent trade off because it works against zombies as well. Two or three punches to a zombie's head and you shouldn't need to worry about it any more, just keep punching the head as it gets up and it will go right back down until it dies. You're not going unconscious because of a lack of blood you're going unconscious because the game is made to be able to knock people out. In a real fist fight it only takes one good punch to put your opponent on his ass. I grew up in a place where fighting happened every day and its not surprising to see a guy get dropped by a couple hard punches. Hopefully if they add skills to the game you can start to take more punches the more you fight. I would love to see Dayz bum fights under a bridge somewhere. The amount of blood you do lose is a different issue altogether, though. Every wound should release a certain amount. Unless every zombie is literally ripping open your body with every punch the loss is way too drastic. And yes, the first thing you should always do when you spawn is rip up your own shirt. See a shirt on the ground, rip it up. See a dead guy take off his shirt and make some rags.

Since I seem to find handguns on top of most military buildings and the fire stations I have been checking for those new pistols there but with no luck. Haven't seen the ammo either. I do remember the post where it said that the .357 was already added so they must be rare. This is definitely better than the find a gun under every rock you turn over system there is now.

The price now will increase later but only for people that haven't bought it already.

Yellow means that you are experiencing more latency than you were. Once it hits red you have desynced from the server. Once the desync hits a certain limit the chain breaks and your connection to the server is considered broken. That's the point where the game tells you that you haven't heard anything from the server in x number of seconds. I have recovered from all three of those situations in the mod but in the SA it seems like the only broken chains I have seen are on server restart.

I miss the old way because it was faster and contrary to what you guys are saying the old way was more realistic. If I opened a backpack and started putting things into it they would would stack on top of each other. If I reached down into the bag and grabbed a bottle of water, everything else above it would not just magically float in place. Like the old system, everything would just fall down filling the empty space leaving the room at the top of the bag. I do like the new system better, though, because I can't lose gear by forcing a large item into a small space. I couldn't care less how things are sorted in my pack because I have 20 slots outside my pack now. I can put my food in on article of clothing, water in another, etc. The main problem I have is that the unrealistic way the stuff doesn't settle into the pack the way it used to in the old system means that if there are zombies on my tail I can't just grab something as I'm running by, I have to needlessly waste time organizing things. Again, though, I gladly will trade that inconvenience for never grabbing a rifle off of the ground and finding out later that it only made it into my bag because it destroyed something else I already had in there.

I play hero to people that ask for help but when I run into someone randomly I retreat inside the nearest building. I let them go about their day in peace unless they are stupid enough to follow me into whatever building I took up a defensive position in. I will either kill them or die trying as they only time I allowed myself to be held up I got executed anyway.

Backpacks will be teleported outside if you try to lay them down inside any higher than the first floor of a building. At least that happened to me the two times I needed to set it down. Also, The Axe Hunter of Green Mountain probably couldn't find any roofies so he used his axe to incapacitate you. You should probably get tested just in case.

I was in a small fight with two other players today and ended up with black and white, blurry vision. My status was showing healthy before that and after eating a drinking a bit it said Healing. I laid down in a dark corner of a yard and slowly my vision came back to normal. I didn't get to the Healthy status without eating and drinking a ton after I had first spawned so it looks like you regen some whenever it says that. I really like that eating doesn't instantly return blood and instead you need to fill up on calories then your body slowly makes its own blood. As for sliding bodies it was cracking me up when a zombie came charging down the hill at me near Rog. I turned around to defend myself when I see the zombie fly about ten feet, hit the ground and die, then slide all the way down the entire mountain.

For guys talking about man up and play at night it has nothing to do with not wanting to play at night. It has to do with only being able to play at night. I have had to make up my own day/night cycle by hopping between regular servers and 24/7 daylight servers. I was off work today, logged in at 10:30am (GMT-6) and the server was light. Twenty minutes later the server restarted and it was dark when it came back. I started hopping from one to another and everyone I came across in the USA was pitch black before noon. I've come across a few west coast servers that seemed to go through sunrise about an hour before I go to bed during the week. I've always wondered why so many losers mock people wanting to check out the map in the light. Its personal preference that shouldn't even register on another person's radar. I thought the hate against it was weird when my bandit friend made it clear today. He was insisting we play on night servers this morning and I asked why he was so eager to only play in the dark. He says "Its easier to get kills in the dark. You don't have to hunt your prey. You don't have to carefully stalk them or worry about them even seeing you. Its like having that suit from Crysis. All you have to do is hide in a dark corner and wait for the flashlights. And holy shit are there a lot of flashlights."
