Aw, that's cute. You watched The Corporation and say the stupidity they said as if it were true. Firstly, corporations are not legally bound by law to earn as much money as possible. PUBLICLY TRADED corporations have a contractual obligation to not spend their money in ways that will knowingly hurt the value of the investment made by the public. If they don't, there is no law that will fine them or put their officers in prison. It will result in a simple breach of contract that must be followed up by the investors suing them. Oh, and BIS is a privately held company so this doesn't even apply.

Would This Be Considered Being Murdered In Cold Blood?
hogscraper replied to [email protected]'s topic in Gallery
the hospital? -
This is what I think of when I think of how Dayz might introduce elements of your environment to do cheap, civilian camo: Little bit of mud and you blend right in. What I fear is eventually having some guy in Elektro, running around screaming
-
While I don't think that OP is a troll I just think he has missed the point. You didn't buy The Full Release of Dayz you bought the Alpha that doesn't have much of the content or functionality it will have once it does release. I could see where someone who had only experienced consoles and modern rapist gaming companies who would think the broken mess that is Alpha is the full release. I get DC'd from the SA zero times versus a broken heap that was BF4 when it first came out. Given that, I can also understand where someone could feel that getting money for all this crazy content and updates they are handing out would allow more dollars to go towards a bigger team and more content. Give the poor little guy a break and instead welcome him to the amazing world of gaming done the right way.

Can Anyone That Camps Share Their Experiences?
hogscraper replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
You talking real camping? I live in Kentucky, USA and camp all the time. Compared to people in NYC my daily life in the country might seem like camping to them. I love being outdoors when the weather is warm and have camped most of the mountain ranges in North America. If you're talking that type of camping, and not siting in the same spot in game waiting for someone to kill I can tell you some stories. -
Problem Since Patch : I Sleep All Day / Low Pc Config For Play Night
hogscraper replied to Vandochka's topic in General Discussion
I think you may want to look for daylight servers. I have a similar situation where even when there's five hours of daylight left where I live, its already night in game. I ended up just making up my own game day/night schedule and play on certain servers depending on whether I want to play in day or night. -
If a game gives a player the ability to be an asshole, expect many to use that ability to the fullest.

Are we allowed to use keyboard macros?
hogscraper replied to skoltd's topic in New Player Discussion
I would say it would depend on what you're trying to accomplish with these macros. If you pushed one button and your program spat out a collection of commands that moved your guy around a given area then collected any loot in your nearby area it could be seen as botting. If it was something else, like pull out gun, reload and bring it up that doesn't seem bad but they could still look down on it. Same could go for continuing to move instead of holding down the movement key. -
Be careful what you wish for. People kept saying that zombies should have a greater range of hearing in the mod and you could hear the screaming and crying in Chernarus all the way to Taviana once they increased it.People would fire off a lee enfield in Elektro then flip out because 30-40 zombies would come looking for whoever rang the dinner bell.

kk,standalone, and these cool maps. (and a question that needs answering)
hogscraper replied to over9000nukez's topic in General Discussion
Chernarus for me. I've tried nearly every map I could find in the Commander and most of them just aren't very good except maybe Namalsk or Panthera. Both of those two still have that unpolished feel about them but Namalsk has a really cool setup. Pathera I like the villages and buildings seem to be more enterable. Even though I like them, they just can't compare to Chernorus. -
No matter what changes or fixes they have in the works for zombie/pathing AI there really isn't any reason, ever, to have zombies running faster than people. Firstly it doesn't make sense. They are dead and presumably got that way being injured in some way. Even ones that were not injured to the lower body have rotting muscles. What I would really like to see is a system where zombies have a max speed that is around 80-90% of player jog speed but players would have an endurance system in place. The endurance system shouldn't be as crazy as Arma 3 but it should make it so that the longer you sprint the faster some invisible gauge fills. Once that fills you can't sprint unless you spend some time moving at normal walk speed or less. If the gauge is empty you can still jog but then another endurance gauge starts filling up. Once that one is full you can't move faster than normal walk speed. That gauge has to fill before the other one fills meaning that it would take a while at walking speed to be able to sprint again if you ran yourself down that much. With a system like that in place, you could easily put distance between yourself and zombies, but if you didn't use your head and find cover they would eventually overtake you. That would also mean never chancing a fight with zombies in the open unless you were certain you could deal with them all.

lol the other day I log in with a friend and his name is John in game. I guess using a number as my pc name meant the game never changed my in game name from what it was before. This definitely confused the shit out John since he had only just bought the game and installed it. He was getting really creeped out so I eventually said John is a very common name, maybe your guy just got reset to a default name or something. Was pretty funny listening to him go on about it for a while.

Reflection and Opinion of DayZ till Jan 24
hogscraper replied to koNtenT's topic in General Discussion
I do think they need to add a 3-5 second timer to the time it takes to add bullets into magazines. Or like 1/10 of a second per bullet. Its still not realistic as most people might average 1 second per bullet as you can't easily hold thirty rounds in one hand and put them into a magazine, but that's just taking things too far. A compromise should be made on that one. -
I can see where you would be bummed at first, but you did well and avenged your friend. The player with the axe tried to kill you multiple times. Why on Earth would you not shoot them or at least tell them to piss off? That's not even trust at that point. So far, I've found the only people I trust, even a little, are those that join me in TS or skype. And even those I only trust a little.

The biggest problem with nighttime...
hogscraper replied to Blaaaaaaag's topic in General Discussion
Dayz SA brings out the murderer in enough people that I personally don't care to play at night where anyone can camp a dark corner and end the game for me. I like to at least have a chance at seeing the guy who's playing for no reason other than killing other players. I don't dislike the dark in the mod, but so far in SA, all of my deaths at night but one came from people who had their gamma to the max and could see me when I couldn't see them. The last one was the last I intend on having at night. I'm sitting in a corner waiting for a friend to log in, its pitch black and I can't even see the other friend I'm running with, who is maybe ten feet away. Two hundred or so yards away I see the flash of a gun in complete darkness as I died. Night is more exciting, but I willingly give up that little bit of extra heart pounding fun to also give up the lesser ability to survive based on my own ability. -
Don't know that I've ever heard of a leaderboard system being implemented in Dayz. If someone has a link, awesome, but until then sounds like worrying about nothing. Also, KOS 'problem' in Alpha may or may not even be a 'problem' later on.

I think Rocket said he was looking to get a Maserati and herpes. That's probably where all the money went. And coke.

Hardcore and Regular same character?
hogscraper replied to Sputnik (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Different characters for different hives. Otherwise a person could load up 3pp, get their gear then load back into a 1pp server without having risked as much for what he is carrying. -
There should really be more hardcore servers
hogscraper replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
Welcome to the world of having a minority opinion. If there were more players wanting this, there would be more servers. You could also find more people in your area and start your own server. -
Development priorities and the latest patch
hogscraper replied to Ravenblade86's topic in General Discussion
1. Loot is supposed to be scare and you should already be doing everything in your power to leave the coast anyway. Complaining about loot in coastal towns is a waste of time unless you are on a server that hasn't restarted in more than six hours. I think there needs to be some respawn mechanic once they stabilize things enough that server restarts aren't happening every four hours, but up to that time, it seems fine to me. 2. No amount of zombies>fireaxe 3. Pointless addition that adds almost nothing to the game. However, if its just a reskin that team/person might not have anything to do. 4. Couldn't care less You said it best when you said, "the game is in alpha". I'm sure some feedback on content is necessary but our testing right now is about mechanics. BIS aren't new to early access and suggesting their not bowing to design suggestions made by players as 'teething problems' is a fairly arrogant thing to say. They had a very successful run through Arma 3. Having been through that one from the first second I could buy I already understand that I only have a small amount, (nearer to none really), of say on content choices they make. Why? They have their roadmap laid out of what they want their games to be as well as when and where they want them at every step and other than tweaks for balance, you need to prepare yourself for the FACT that you are only along for the ride. They have to be this way. Their goal is to make hardcore games that follow a very specific vision. Changing that because people want it could end up destroying the soul of what they are trying to create so they probably will always step lightly and take a long time considering changes. -
I honestly hope there are never helis added to the SA. They really break so much of what everything else in the game is trying to achieve. I've never played on any server in the mod, that had helis, where to many players ended up following this script and nothing else: 1. find new heli spawn 2. find parts to fix heli 3. fuel up heli 4. use heli to find all other helis on server 5. once air monopoly is had use heli to go grid by grid to find every single camp, vehicle and person on server 6. raid/destroy every camp you found 7. steal or disable every vehicle you found 8. kill every person you found Its not that everyone on every server does this but enough do that it begins to make even playing there bothersome. To guy who posted above me, it looks like TOH with Chernarus added as a map.

Can anything be implemented without being made tedious?
hogscraper replied to RUS_Starbuck's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think that's the disconnect between what Dayz is and what some people want it to be. Some people want a TDM FPS with zombies added in here and there, (or not at all), and others, including the devs, want something more. The quicker you can accomplish the 'something more' the quicker everything turns into TDM. If people could chop down one tree and instantly build a large complex or base with it, what then? Oh yea, they already have that. Its called Wasteland mod for Arma 2 and Arma 3. Build your bases, go to war and don't worry about the 'something more' that Epoch has tried to accomplish. I am a sarcastic asshole but that's definitely not what I'm going for when I say, why aren't you playing Wasteland? Its the exact opposite of the MMO type experience Epoch is going for. -
I used to use this program called VB-Audio Virtual Cable. You can set up that as an output device for media player then you have to be able to set it as the input device for whatever game you are playing. I haven't seen that option in Dayz SA but you might be able to figure it out through the config files. You could also just assign that output device to one of your 3.5 mm jacks on your pc that you aren't using, then patch it straight into the pink one.

I thought we were gonna have radios?
hogscraper replied to JesusDied4You's topic in General Discussion
damn, meat pie has an extra sandy vagina today... They showed radios long before Alpha in a working state, then they had a thread asking if anyone had the skills to put on a radio show. At the time it wasn't something that was in development it was something that was already in the game. I can understand if they didn't want to pay royalties for music or broke the functionality with some update to code, but a word on what's up with it might have been nice. -
World famous books and tropical fruits
hogscraper replied to roguetrooper's topic in General Discussion
I would rather find a Pristine copy of The Heart of Darkness than Pettr's Big Book of Bird Watching.
